Star Trek Discovery SUCKS.

I have to admit I still find it funny that all the changes to STD for the new season seem aimed at trying to win back the Star Trek fanbase. Bringing in Pike as Captain, the uniforms, redoing the Klingons, adding actual humor, dialing back Burman and so on. It's almost like those "new fans" they claim watch the show don't exist in the numbers they led people to believe. Hmmm.....

My good man, CBS All Access has reported record setting subscriptions in response to airing Star Trek Discovery. Why on God's green Earth would they tinker with the show when it's been nothing but a smashing success? That would be the height of ignorance and folly.

but this is the kelvin Timeline not canon. IMO if they didn't have anything new to tell, they should have left Star trek alone. Unique ideas are scarce and they can take decades to put together but I feel like this was an attempt to rush this franchise and try to win fans over and cash in on a new platform that to this day is untested and could collapse tomorrow(Streaming is not the future even though the companies like us to believe). Now they have something that neither new or old fans wants.

The silver lining is that these people are always wrong and we are vindicated in the long run. Unfortunately that also means that our beloved TV shows and movies have been heavily damaged at that point due to the arrogance and hubris of show runners who have no appreciation or respect for the original concept they are working with.

Stargate Universe could not work because it was not Stargate. It doesn't matter that the show runners were the original creators of the Stargate TV show brand. They changed the brand into something that was not Stargate.

Star Trek Discovery can not work because it is not Star Trek. The fanbois can whine all they want about our rejection of it but ultimately their whining insults will not save it. STD fanbois are extremely limited in number. They are not a big enough mass to make the show profitable; not now or in the future. Genuine ST fans aren't watching this show nor will they buy the DVD's nor will they pay to rewatch this crap nor will they recommend this show to their friends. The resale value of this show is nil because there is no loyal fanbase to keep it alive. And as OM1 pointed out the squee drones will slink away once the chickens come home to roost.

So if fanbois want to label me (and us) a "Gatekeeper" that's fine, I'll happily take that moniker. It's meant as an insult but in this context it's a compliment. Basically everyone who rejected this show is a gatekeeper because they did so on legitimate grounds. And most importantly the gatekeepers outweigh the fanbois by millions and no amount of insults or whining will bring the gatekeepers back to the fold.

Exactly right. And I notice that on the comment sections, the STD drones call us "incels" (I looked it up). Really? :) Do these semi-sentient STD fans really think that their TV shows should be about their sexual identity problems, feminism, dark broody spaces and bright lights and explosions? Are those dutch angles (another name for dumb skewed camera angles) and panning 360 shots enough to satisfy them completely? Evidently so.

I mean, look at this cringy clip. This is supposed to be Star Trek. This is them trying out the spore drive, and trying to make it sound legit. WARNING: They invoke the name of Elon Musk alongside Zephram Cochran

"Black alert"? Seriously? :rolleye0014::icon_lol:

Yes, the clip is cringy. The writing, acting and directing is all bad. The whole thing seems "clunky", like they're apathetically going through the motions just because it's their job and they're required to.

It's also apparent that they're cynically using Star Trek as window dressing. The writers are so damn lazy they think that because the show is called "Star Trek" all they have to do is have the characters mumble some jargon about nonsensical technology then have those characters argue over that nonsensical technology because nonsensical conflict is the basis of bad writing today and that's what these writers are -- bad.

And enough with that spinning yo yo ship! :rolleye0014::rolleye0014::rolleye0014:

Looks like the Tardigrades game lawsuit is going ahead. :). They said that they wouldn't use the Tardigrades and then drop the lawsuit but lol this is getting quite bad now.

I had a lament of joy reading this article . His writing is commendatory and reflects every one here's inclination towards this std.
There is a good chance it may have already been posted but there is a plethora of articles like this one if you need a good cachinnate during a morning brew surfing the WWW .

http://www.pajiba.com/tv_reviews/star-trek-discovery-is-actually-getting-worse.php

From that article:

See, the way it works is by intergalactic mushrooms. Yes, there are clouds of mushroom spores that have spread through the entire universe and they’re all like interconnected man, and this gentle giant of an alien can like transport the entire starship anywhere there’s shrooms, man. But this makes him cry, so it’s really harshing Burnham’s vibe. And I cannot fucking believe that I am describing the critical plot point of a Star Trek series and not a joke from Austin Powers 4: Groovy Space Cowboy.

All that said, I’m all in if Burnham pulls a Sisko/Riker and becomes a badass by growing a beard.

Lest we forget CBS has been sued for plagiarism over the entire Tardigrade plot concept.

She didn't have a "lead role" apparently.

Uhura's role in TOS was focused and consistent, and fleshed out perfectly. You could see her professional side and her personal side and she was in perfect balance. Even in the Mirror universe. :) But Mary Sue Burnham, we have seen her as a stoic Vulcan educated human, then a faithful 1st Officer, then a murderer, then a mutinous psychopath, to a prisoner, then to the Mirror universe where she was a cannibal. Sheez. Who the f**k is this female? She should be beamed into the closest star or at least into solid rock.

Lest we forget CBS has been sued for plagiarism over the entire Tardigrade plot concept.

Yet one more example of the horrible writing on this show. TPTB are bereft of originality. Plus they don't understand the difference between being inspired by someone else's concept verses outright "cut & paste" plagiarism. The latter is done by writers who are amateurs.
