OMG, this article is so bad you deserve a prize for finding it. :icon_lol:

The worst thing about that picture in the article is that the creature shown is a Tellarite. HAHAHAHA!

So, isn't it time for a "Star Trek: Discovery - FINAL SEASON (Probably)" thread? :)

LOL, these types of leaks being released from the Discovery "buzz" department are as dumb as rocks. So, this Harry Mudd episode was "crucial" to the show, and they "scrapped it at the last minute"? From the article:

‘So, a lot of it was scrapped and rewritten at the last minute, or the three or four days before we started shooting, there was a mammoth rewrite on that Mudd stuff.’

Do they realize that they are telling us that it took only "three or four days" to basically write a new episode of this crap? Somehow, I am relieved. I have to assume (from viewing about 5 episodes) that each one of the Season 1 episodes was written in a few days without much direction. I did watch the Mudd episodes, and parts of two Mirror universe episodes. I wouldn't call any of them "crucial". But whatever....

OMG, some of the lines from this shill piece are so cringy!

Star Trek: Discovery was the big success story of 2017 with the episode...

...fans going absolutely bananas over the announcement that Spock will play an integral part of the show’ second coming.

Yeah, I'm going "bananas" over the announcement of the actor playing Spock. In fact, I've had to go out and buy some adult diapers because I can't contain my excitement. :rolleye0014:

*There were several spelling and grammar errors in the article that an editor, or the author of the piece, should have easily caught. I remember being taught how to proof-read my work back in grade school for goodness sake. It's pitiful that this is what passes for entertainment journalism by university graduates these days.

That whole string of shill pieces they have published on there involving Spock and also Picard are all woefully cringy. And I really think they must have cornered Patrick Stewart in a bar somewhere and filled him with lots of sherry to convince him that this thing was doing so well. He does not seem to see that being involved in this these Kurtzman toilet floaters is going to diminish his character. They must have sold him the "Oh, the haters are a small but vocal minority".

Where are the metrics they are using to deem this STD show a success? Where are the subscriber numbers? The viewership numbers? Where are the sales figures for STD merchandise and toys? Where are the cheering fans from ComicCon? I know at least 10 people who went to Comic Con in San Diego this year, and they said that the STD panel was boring and low-energy. Here is the entire panel. You will NOT be able to watch it through, but you can slide the viewer slider to check out any segment of it. Keep in mind that this event is part of the ticket price, and also that the show's support personnel like set workers and cameramen and other staff are in the audience (probably mandatory). You hear a few cheers, but you can CLEARLY hear that they are muted and represent a tiny part of the audience. Many people walked out of that panel before it was half over. This is what I was told from somebody who was actually there. Here it is.

This is worse than what happened with SGU in lots of ways. LOTS more money has been blown on this, and more shakeups and controversies have swirled around it online. They have had to hide the fail. Nobody asked for the viewer or subscriber numbers in that panel's audience.

I literally cringed within the first 5 seconds of the video.

Ever run into idiots who bash you for criticizing this show and well just art in general? Don't you love it when you get told that, if you don't like it, go watch something that you really love. LOL! As if that's going to make the problem go away. This comes directly from the people working inside the camp too which is the most infuriating part. They somehow believe they are given the right to re-write the lore and history and we are simply suppose to accept it as if the previous history never existed. I have seen this in all walks of life but mostly happens in the art. Why is this? Their heads are so up their rear end that they can't see the other side.

Yep, but it always turns out that those people slink away in shame when their beloved failure bites the dust. Remember all the SGU squeedrones pushing back against SGUS when we all knew it was going to die? They dismissed us as a "small but vocal" group of "haters", and went on about how Eli was so great and how Chloe was not a space whore and got all excited about the God Signal? Brad and Mallozzi got all arrogant, and yet we as fans knew from the beginning that the show was going to be a goner. Well, when that happened, we danced and threw an online party and Brad and Mozz and the squeedrones all slinked away into the shadows. While many of the SGU fans were just mad, others were completely clueless and could not understand what was wrong with their show. Why did they cancel it? It was like, so kewl!

Star Trek Discovery fans are in a large part brand new to anything named Star Trek. To them, everything in the show is new. If they are action fans, then this show is just what they want. Lots of sleek looking ships and dark shiny stuff. But because they never watched Star Trek, they do not understand our disappointment.

The silver lining is that these people are always wrong and we are vindicated in the long run. Unfortunately that also means that our beloved TV shows and movies have been heavily damaged at that point due to the arrogance and hubris of show runners who have no appreciation or respect for the original concept they are working with.

Stargate Universe could not work because it was not Stargate. It doesn't matter that the show runners were the original creators of the Stargate TV show brand. They changed the brand into something that was not Stargate.

Star Trek Discovery can not work because it is not Star Trek. The fanbois can whine all they want about our rejection of it but ultimately their whining insults will not save it. STD fanbois are extremely limited in number. They are not a big enough mass to make the show profitable; not now or in the future. Genuine ST fans aren't watching this show nor will they buy the DVD's nor will they pay to rewatch this crap nor will they recommend this show to their friends. The resale value of this show is nil because there is no loyal fanbase to keep it alive. And as OM1 pointed out the squee drones will slink away once the chickens come home to roost.

So if fanbois want to label me (and us) a "Gatekeeper" that's fine, I'll happily take that moniker. It's meant as an insult but in this context it's a compliment. Basically everyone who rejected this show is a gatekeeper because they did so on legitimate grounds. And most importantly the gatekeepers outweigh the fanbois by millions and no amount of insults or whining will bring the gatekeepers back to the fold.

How do you get back at people who defend a pile of shit like STD or SGPoo? They constantly go, well it's different, so if you don't like it, don't watch it. It's as if that gives them the right to shit over the legacy that came before it. To me that sort of tone is narcissistic/pretentious and shitting on the hard work that the writers put into the creativity. I unfortunately don't have ways of having a good come back.

Ask them how they would feel about it if they somehow got new parents and they went to bed and woke up the next day with a completely different head and perhaps a different gender because the new parents just wanted something new and different.

You don't "get back" at them at all. You simply don't engage with them. I understand it's human nature to want to argue a point but the truth is it's a wasted effort on your part. When it comes to paid shills and fanbois you will never win the argument. Even if you logically refute their assertions they will never accept the truth; they will never acknowledge that you have won. You will never, ever convince them of the error of their ways. This is human nature in the 21st century.

How you ultimately "win" is by sitting back and letting reality take its course. STD is a flaming piece of crap. Everyone knows it. The feedback on every single STD article is negative towards it. It has been wholly rejected by the scifi masses. It has no future in terms of resale value. It won't go into heavy syndicated rotation like the other ST shows have done. It will suffer the fate of SGU and DEFIANCE. It will be considered irrelevant and will be forgotten about in the long run.

The fact that it's still in production is irrelevant; that's simply a factor of being a corporate investment that they can't let die for fear of losing market share. But they can't stave off reality forever, no one can. They are hoping beyond hope that season 2 repairs the damage to this sinking ship and it magically becomes successful. That simply is not going to happen. Winning back viewers is an almost impossible task. It's hard enough to do that on free, over-the-air TV. Expecting to win back paying viewers who have been burned once is laughably ridiculous. It. Won't. Happen.

No matter how good season 2 of Star Trek Diarrhea is it won't be good enough to justify the insane budget TPTB have wasted on it. They simply can't bring in enough revenue to get back their investment and also make a worthwhile profit. All they can do is push the day of fiscal reckoning further down the road. TPTB are running a "long con", not because they wanted to or planned to but because they now have to. They foolishly did not cut their losses to start over like they should have. They foolishly did not give Trek fans a deserved mea culpa with a promise to hurriedly give them a genuine Trek show in its place. This would have gone a long way towards fixing the situation. But they decided to double-down on their stupidity and now they have to see this abortion through to the bitter end. This was a self-defeating decision. They will lose, in fact, they've already lost.

So there ya go, you don't have to do anything to "win" the argument. Just sit back and enjoy watching yourself be proven right in the long run. :)

The way we get back is that the show in question gets canceled. It happens every time. :) The SGPoo folks called the real fans "haters" and went on about how the new show is so much better than all the old ones (this is usually in the first season of the new show when the newbies first start watching and the fans are most pissed off at changes). They try and try to push back against the millions of angry fans who have been watching it longer than they have even been alive. SGU got canceled midway through season 2. STD will probably get canceled after season 2 has aired.

I have to admit I still find it funny that all the changes to STD for the new season seem aimed at trying to win back the Star Trek fanbase. Bringing in Pike as Captain, the uniforms, redoing the Klingons, adding actual humor, dialing back Burman and so on. It's almost like those "new fans" they claim watch the show don't exist in the numbers they led people to believe. Hmmm.....
