Sanctuary General Discussion Thread

What ship is this?

From reading around the Web it appears that Sanctuary fandom is split on Kate. A lot of people can't stand her and just want her gone. I didn't really care either way until recently, like this episode, when I realized she isn't even doing a good job of being eye candy. She's just there.

And it's not that people are clamoring for Ashley to come back, they simply want Kate gone because she doesn't fit. She might have been okay for an episode or two but making her a regular was pointless. She has become an irritant by her very existence and needs to be dealt with accordingly, such as being devoured by an abnormal and then pooped out. They can make it an episode where Helen discovers Kate's remains amongst the abnormal's feces and goes about reconstructing what happened. In the end she'll discover that Kate was just one big annoying grain of sand in the vagina of the abnormal so the beast was more than good with getting rid of her. Now that's an episode I'd watch!

I guess people are going to have differing opinions. Kate in Season 2 was annoying at times. However she was fixed pretty well this season. They toned down the whole "street smart" aspect and made her a bit more feminine. And it worked great! I still chuckle when I remember her and the Big Guy watching TV together while munching popcorn -and both falling alseep.

This episode really was focused heavily on Helen, with the others very much in the background (although Will had a good part profiling and Henry was funny with his reactions to being exposed to all that advanced tech - classic nerdgasm). And even though his time on screen was short John Druitt really stood out - he was positively creepy and as I said earlier gave off a definite Hannibal Lecter vibe.

Tesla will be coming soon, and judging by the previews he is getting his "vamp" back.

Interesting.
Google gives these...

  • 1.ef·fete
  • 2.(of a person) Affected, overrefined, and ineffectual
  • 3.No longer capable of effective action
Oops. Only now do I see I misread ineffectual for intellectual.
I was up early today. :D

I hope Sanctuary's numbers rise, that's not all too great.

The latest episode was pretty awesome even if it did a complete 180 on where I thought the plot was going. Perhaps it could be described as a little underwhelming considering the buildup - the episode as a standalone piece of entertainment though was great.

EDIT: Also some more thoughts. Don't like Kate, she has none of the depth of Ashley (who was a daughter and therefore more important). LOVE Tesla, he should be a regular character. His added presence this season proved he can work every episode. Adam Worth was also awesome as a villain, I hope he gets an even bigger role.
I kinda wish invisible girl was still alive, she was cool.

I have a feeling you're not gonna see Adam Worth again.
Methinks good ol' Jack took him apart.
Also I prefer Ashley over Kate anyday. (except maybe when she's in my bed, in that case I'll skip the voting and try to go for both :P)
Tesla reigns.
Love him as a scientist.

Meh, I thought it kind of described Tesla. He's been attenuated with the loss of his vampirism; he's no longer "fertile" and he's lost that vampire vitality and strength. Plus he comes across as a bit effeminate. Granted, he's no screaming queen, but there's definitely some sugar in his tank. ;)

Are you calling Tesla gay?
Hmmm... well he did come across a bit 'girly' when he played that botanist in that SGA episode. (the actor I mean, not Tesla)

Think tesla would be turned on by a stargate or replicator. What I don't get is why all the girls love him, ladies?

Yeah he's not exactly handsome is he? He does have personality though.

Yes, "Tesla" does have an effeminate quality that could imply that he's gay. Believe it or not there are some heterosexual men who are effeminate and there are always women who love them. For some reason women are attracted to men with feminine qualities. David Bowie (who is heterosexual) proved this over 40 years ago when he had thousands of screaming girls madly in love with him (Ziggy).

Yes but that's probably because of subliminal messaging in his music. That and the girls were totally bonkers. :)
Boy George also falls into that category I think.
