And lest we forget this week we get Druitt!

Plus we appear to have repercussions from the episode just aired. Looks like her "killing" Jekyll had an impact on the original founding of the Sanctuary network.

Oh, Sanctuary, how I love you! You make me realize that the SciFi channel does have the ability to produce quality science fiction. I can watch Magnus and Tesla or Magnus kicking butt all day long!

The fact that they were basically running into the same “room” for 45 minutes really didn’t bother me since the fight scenes were really cool. Especially when it became clear that another piece of the lost city puzzle had been introduced - the suspense is killing me and I can’t wait for next week’s episode.

Skiffy doesn't produce Sanctuary.

But apart from that, yeah this was a damn good episode. SGU should be taking notes about how to make an episode and characters interesting. I'm hanging out for this week's episode so we can get more answers and no doubt more questions :D

Yep, Sanctuary has a pretty unique production model.

There is no production company (a la MGM) behind it. Basically Damien Kindler and Amanda Tapping attract investors (of which they are two) to fund the show. The ROI for the investors comes from the license fees (minus costs of course), and the liecensing tells them how many episodes they are making.

It is part of how they do it for less - they have cut the whole "big studio" aspect out of the loop.

Sanctuary went up to a 1.48, while at the same time it's wrestling lead in dropped to a 2.3.

Interesting...

WWE just "lost" it's star face in John Cena, backlash is not suprising

Not really...
Sanctuary often has viewer movements in the opposite direction to it's lead-in. I don't think Smackdown has much of an influence on Sanctuary nor did it appear to have one on Haven either.

Smackdown probably does have some influence, but not as much as people may ascribe to it.

Sanctuary

I am finding Sanctuary to be a wonderfull alternative to watching sgpoo . Since I don't have sat anymore I watch it from the Internet . I noticed that they went back to much nicer intro music so we won't have to mute the opening thank god . Now if sgpoo tptb would listen to the fans like santuary does then maybe it would get the next season like they are hoping

Kates t- shirt

In the beginning, Kate annoyed the hell out of me. So much so, that I was hoping she would get eaten by something or somehow removed from the show. That was because I loved Ashley and thought the show would never be the same without her. Boy was I wrong! They fixed Kate very VERY quickly, and she is completely different now. They toned down all that street smart stuff, brought out her feminine side and her softness, but kept the badass fighting and snarky humor. She is a total BABE now! Even her clothes are better. Now, she is part of this team, and Ashley would no longer fit.

Agreed but check out her shirt . SUS . (Stargate Universe Sucks) Is that what it means lol !

Interesting episode tonight. Actually missed seeing Kate and LOVED seeing John.

Tesla is such a snarky little hoot. He's the kind of person to whom you must ask direct questions, or he'll only tell just enough truth to get away with things.

Great episode.

I find Adam to be very interesting, Ian Tracey is one hell of a actor!

Heck, I have to say that Sanctuary is the spiritual successor to SG1 and SGA :)

Another strong installment.

Adam is an interesting added character, and with Magnus being terminally ill there is an additional dynamic going on. Also the revelation that Magnus broke her word to Will and that the Sanctuary's ability to function legally was purchased by The Five acting as government agents is going to lead up to an interesting dialogue between him and Helen to rebuild that trust.

Now let's re-vamp Tesla. He is still excellent as is but he needs to get his "vamp" back.

I love Tesla's smile. His whole face lights up.

Oddly, when he does it, I almost think I'm seeing fangs.

It's fun to note that his real canine teeth appear to be quite prominent all on their own. LOL

Is it the actors they've chosen or the writing that makes all these characters so damn interesting? And the one mistep they made with one character was corrected quickly enough. Two episodes and I'm thoroughly invested in Adam - a split personality psycho who I should hate! Two episodes!! I would like to see him as a recurring character, ala Dr. Watson (who was great to see again, by the way). THIS is how you make your audience LIKE a so-called unlikeable character and tune in every week to see what else he gets up to!

This episode didn't have the action, but all the twists and turns - the drama! The Sanctuary was built with dirty money, so to speak. I didn't see that one coming! The high and mighty Magnus scratched a back to get her funding. Yes, I can't wait for that discussion with Will!

Didn't TPTB want non square-jawed, regular looking actors for their show? That was supposed to make it more real? Didn't work, so it must be the writing. Because Adam and Tesla are no International Male catalog models, but I find both of them incredibly sexy - and again, INTERESTING! Adam's gap-tooth is delicious and yes, Tesla's smile just makes you melt! I don't know if it's because I WANT him to be a vampire again that I'm also seeing longer than normal canine teeth. Maybe that's his natural trait?

One other thing: The shot of the five working in the lab was so weirdly cool! Like a sepia-toned CGI. Can't wait for the DVD so I can get a marathon going on. Great episode - I'm coming to expect nothing less!!

Ya, I noticed the same thing.

If you can, rewatch the episode where they rescue him from the altered bugs and take a close look at his teeth when he's being his special self (while he's still bound tighter than a second mortgage). You should be able to see those canines of his at that point.

I swear the episode before last was the best thing I've seen in sci-fi in a long time. Every shot and moment seemed perfectly crafted.

But wow is this hollow earth storyline interesting. The fact that Tesla is a lot more episodes this year is also a pleasing development, that character is awesome.

I think the show has really taken it up a notch this season, apart from the bank job episode (which was still good for what it was) and the suit episode (hated it last season, didnt like it this time around) I've pretty much been hooked.

Tesla is my favorite Sanctuary abnormal by far. His elitist snobbery and devious nature is balanced perfectly by his ascerbic wit and sense of humor. Him and Edward play off each other so well, and Tesla's crush on Magnus is funny, because she knows it and plays off of that with one liners :). I actually missed Kate in this episode! Same with Big Guy.

Tesla just plays well off everyone. That episode last season about the teen vampires completely hinged on him - if anyone else had been the centre of that episode it wouldn't have been half as good. These writers have been pretty amazing at making the five (and adam) compelling characters though, I was fairly gutted when Watson didn't make it back in Season 1.

And yeh I guess Kate wasn't in it to save money and Chris was off playing Druitt. Shame really but I don't think she would have featured all that heavily anyway.

gotta give it a try!

Between you guys and snookie I am going to have to give this show a try! Snookie loves it and couldn't wait to tell me about AT's nod to Harry Potter when another character (I think it was Tesla) complained about being a house elf and Magnus said thanks dobby as she walked away. :) sounded like the type of fun scene you had in sg1 and sga.

OMG, there are so many funny moments, so much humor, its very VERY much like SG-1 and SGA in that respect. Last year in the finale, Paul McGuillion's character (a lizard man with neck frills like the dinosaur in Jurassic Park) faces off on the bridge of a ship with Henry, and Henry turns into a werewolf. Then, McGuillion's character frills out his neck and sprays Henry with venom, and Henry turns back into a human and just says "Ewww, gross!". Its hilarious!
