I really had no issue with the resolution of the priest plot. I suspect the whole purpose was to drive character development in Kate and especially the Big Guy. Not only was he hurt pretty badly but he was torn up by killing the bad guy. And note Kate's reactions in the whole thing - she has truly bonded with the Big Guy.

As to the FBI agent, I have a funny feeling she was the "priests" accomplice.

The priest was indeed a let-down.
A couple of episodes ago he was an ominous character that seemed to possess special powers.
Or isn't that hooded figure supposedly the priest on the rooftop in episode 4 timecode 33:26?
He seemed to be able to kill some guy from a distance in no apparent fashion.
Now it's suddenly...
priest: "hey look at me, I'm the bad guy"
bigguy: "you killed my friend, come here"
priest: "catch me if you can, I'm outa here"
bigguy: "I'm gonna get you"
And then he kills him.
A bit disappointing to me, though killing bad guys is always a good thing.

Oh and another thing that bothered me about the episode - stealing the keystone. Now, I know that the gamma-ray-loving abnormal obtained it somewhat illegally (by buying it from the museum guy), but he had indeed "bought" it, so to speak. So what right did Magnus and Druitt have just to go steal it like that? I mean, if you think about it, who had the right to the keystone, really? Did Magnus really have any more of a right to it than gamma-ray-loving dude? Because the museum didn't even get it "properly" - so to speak. Shouldn't it really belong to the Mongolian government museum or something, since it's origin was in the wilderness in Mongolia? Anyways - it seemed a little bit "wrong" for them just to steal it, imo - sort of like: "we need it, so everybody else be damned!" - they could have made that aspect a little bit better, I think - either by making it more obvious that the gamma-ray-loving abnormal dude had knowingly engaged in illegal activities or by just having Magnus leave a stack of cash in the place of the keystone, or something...dunno.

But I am nitpicking - overall I did like the episode, even with the few weak points.

Arguing over budgets and show production costs is something of a moot point when you realize that A.) "Sanctuary" is cheaper to produce that SGU and B.) it gets better ratings in regards to money spent for production. Whatever their formula be it independent financing or just creative budgeting TPTB for "Sanctuary" seem to know what they're doing. Sure the show is cheesy and there are some real eye roll moments but it never fails to deliver good action with attending drama.

As for the evil priest thing, yes, that was rushed and not resolved I suspect. There's more to that story and I think we'll find out in the second half of the season. Same with the FBI chick. She could just be a character they threw in there in case they need a storyline in the future but something tells me that TPTB for "Sanctuary" actually have their story arcs mapped out fully and they know what they are doing with story construction, unlike certain other show runners. *cough cough*

On an unrelated note, am I the only one who noticed werewolf dude has both his nips pierced? I didn't know they actually showed that stuff on TV now but I'm glad that things have gotten less Puritanical. I don't want SGU type sex scenes or anything as that would ruin "Sanctuary", but it's good to now they aren't skittish about showing things when necessary.

Thank goodness it wasn't just me! I could have sworn that he had some kind of powers. That's exactly what I thought happened in that episode as well - he stared the guy into death or something. Ah well, they can't all be winners.

Dude, you know Magnus.
They're not stealing the thing, they're just borrowing it. :)
Anyways Magnus is dying so they really need the keystone because they might find the solution to her illness at the centre of the earth.
Fuck gamma-ray-lover, sanctuary can't stop now, we need Tapping to live on! ;)

Pierced nips? I hadn't noticed.
Wouldn't bother me by the way unless they were my own nips.
I like my nips nice and unpierced.
(and hairy :P)

Yeah, you can see them in the scene in the England werewolf sanctuary episode where werewolf dude finds others like himself. It's the staircase scene where he shows the chick how he can control his werewolfish-ness. He changes then hops around on the stairwell then changes back in front of her, sans clothes of course (odd thing is they didn't show what happened to the clothes he was wearing a second earlier, go figure).

BTW Stonelesscutter, LOVE the avatar! That's some funny ass shit! :D

There is a whole thing on that in the Sanctualry thread.

I not only noticed it, I ranted about it earlier last month in this thread and posted a picture of him showing his nips pierced. Very tacky to show them IMO. :)

EDIT: Here is the comment and the picture: http://forums.sgusucks.com/showthread.php/304-Sanctuary/page10?highlight=nipples

Now even though the show stars the gorgeous Amanda Tapping, I have never watched it because I am very cautious about investing time in a show & then finding out is is complete tonk. Can anybody recommend it?

Well, the storyline has its ups and downs, obviously not every episode is great but the cast does compensate for it tenfold. Some of the characters are really likable - Magnus (Tapping), Henry (Ryan Robbins - he played Ladon Radim in Atlantis), Druitt/Bigfoot (Christopher Heyerdahl - he played Todd in Atlantis) , Tesla (Jonathon Young).
The special effects leave a lot to be desired at times but overall it's a good show. I'd give it a 7 out of 10.

Tesla, Tesla, Tesla! I take back what I said, I don’t ever want Tesla to become a vampire again. Because a re-vamped Tesla is not going to hang around the Sanctuary, and we’d be robbed of scenes like Tesla using his powers to open the FBI agent buttons. Or Tesla calling the Big Guy and Kate ‘Brawny and Marie’. Or his calling Henry, our young Heinrich (which is eons better than Hank). Or his pep talk to Will over a glass of wine. He is officially now my favorite Sanctuary character!!!

Nice to see more of Druitt. This episode actually gave everyone a bit of showcase. Not sure what to make of the FBI story - I’m assuming she’s dirty and that will come back to bite them later, but it just felt out of place and rushed. The same for the priest wrap-up , it was a little awkward. It seemed like this storyline was being setup for something bigger and it just fizzled out.

And I’m especially not happy about the mid-season break JUST as they get to the city, but I guess all good things…

My spidy sense was acting up the second the FBI lady showed up. Something is definitely wrong with her, I just can't figure out what.
I second the Tesla motion, I absolutely LOVE him and I do hope they make him a regular on the show.

I too had the feeling there was something fishy about that fbi chick.
However as the episode moved along I begun doubting myself in that respect.
I suspect she will play a part later on and she will turn out to be 'bad' somehow however.

Another thread that totally slipped my mind with all the hoopla lately!

It's been a while, so I guess I'll just sum it up in a neat package. I enjoyed the mid-season finale and the glimpse into the lost city, which I hope they show more of. I think that there's so much more material there to explore than a three episode arc.

I guess the return is in March or April and I'll be glad when it's back.

I thought they were talking about summer time.

So we'll be going through Tesla withdrawal for awhile yet.

I swear, he's got a crocodile's smile. LOL
