Not really no, but then again MR is not a wrestler (it was all fake, don't you know.....)

I found it an interesting movie but very sad. I can't re-watch sad movies like that. The whole movie from start to finish had an air of loneliness about it.

It's supposed to have that feeling. "back in the day" there was alot of risk with very little reward in the industry. Guys left thier families to be "on the road" pretty much 24/7, working for very little money and pretty much "paying thier own way" to get to the next gig. They left thier wives and thier children on the "hope and dreams" of what amounted to an "oily rag" for the most part. Entertainment now may be all "glitz and glamour" and stonking great paycheques, but originally, it was far from it.

At any rate, we are getting WAAAY O.T. PM me if you want dude, but I think this thread has copped enough derailing for one day :)

We reported it first!

Well KEK has just reported about the sets being torn down, so even "the faithful" know it now from a "independant and reliable source"...........

Of course...and we reported it first! The "Independent Reliable Source" (IRS) is Teamsters of Vancouver. They have NO ALLEGIANCES with any production company or any studio. They will not cover up any information on behalf of any production company they happen to be working for. Calling them is a very pleasant experience, because you just ask specific (relevant) questions, and you get direct answers.

Me: "Hello, I was calling about the entry on page 8 of today's Production List, and there is an entry that says WRAP OF STARGATE UNIVERSE SEAS. What is that referring to?"

Dispatch: "Im sorry, that's a typo. It should say WRAP OF STARGATE UNIVERSE SETS"

Me: "Oh, okay! That makes more sense. Thank you very much."

Dispatch: "Thank you for calling."

:)

I know dude, and if you check out GW I did respond to such effect, just as a "known SGU naysayer", I knew I would just be walking into what amounts to a whole days worth of headaches, and to be honest, I had better things to do with my free time today (like discussing the various definitions of scifi on GW and chatting with you guys here, checking up on the Syfy forums, and doing the washing, cooking, cleaning, bum changing, and all the other mundane stuff that goes along with taking care of kids)

Linkies? I hadnt thought about it, but we need to have a policy on screencaps..I think. I believe its legal to do as long as you provide a link to the original source like we were doing on the other site.

LOL! I saw it. I also saw a delusional post on that thread.

It's actually very mild so far, but here you go:
http://forum.gateworld.net/showthread.php?79862-Sets-being-taken-down.
I also figured it was not worth saying where I heard said news for exactly the same reason I had already given.

I saw it! But I laughed at this post a couple messages down:

Um, WRONG! They were NOT stored. They were DESTROYED. I was told this by a very reliable source. They were not mothballed or stored, they were DESTROYED. But this same source told me that the Atlantis gate itself still exists. Here, I wont talk aboout the person making the post because its against our CCPG. But we have seen prattle from that same GW member before. :icon_e_wink:

what if the original post has been "cleansed" from gw or any other site (SYFY, etc?) can we then not post that which was deleted?

Well... then I think you can use a dead link. Maybe even creating a generic one for this purpose could be useful :P

Btw, you've quoted Jelgate from GW recently as being a "she", but I though he was a "he". Does anybody know?

Better to use a dead link than no link at all. A dead link will still take a visitor to Gateworld or whatever source had it originally.

And with that, my business at The Bridge was done.
Looks like all business with Bridge may be done, at least for the moment. The Hollywood Reporter has an article up titled "British Columbia sells off Bridge Studios" but without a paid subscription, you can only read this much:

CALGARY, Alberta -- The British Columbian government said Thursday that it has sold the six-stage Bridge Studios complex in suburban Vancouver to local real estate developer Larco Investments.
The new buyers may continue it as a studio, but who knows? Maybe the rest of the article has more details and someone can find out, or it will be printed elsewhere?

I've tried searching for alternative sources but haven't found one yet.

Very wierd indeed! I looked around a little bit and see quite a few articles mentioning the sale of Bridge by the Canadian goverment to Larco back in 2007. Wish we could see that entire article from this year to understand why they are reporting it now?

Perhaps they had a deal in place with the government to not do anything with the property until such time as any "ongoing productions" were finished, and now SGU is over, Larco now has a free hand to do what it wishes to the property?
