The term "bloating" usually refers to retained water weight. It happens when you are eating a lot of carbs combined with not drinking enough water. It can happen if you are sensitive to gluten, and it can happen if you are eating high fiber foods but only once a day (like at dinner). Drinking more water, and eating those same high fiber foods spread out over several small servings throughout the day will tell your body it does not have to hoard that water, and it will drop off. It really helps to chart your meals over at least a two week period. It seems like a hassle, but you will see patterns in your own eating habits you may not be aware of.
Eat the carrots.

I can see that you are basically eating vegetarian, which is good. But you need to balance that out with more protein. LOTS more protein. You can stay vegetarian and get protein from nuts and servings of higher protein beans (please avoid soy). Stop eating corn if you are eating it. Same with rice. Carrots are okay. Get familiar with the GI (glycemic index). Looking up the GI impact of foods will give you control over cravings for garbage like Doritos (I miss them too!). When you eat high GI foods, your blood sugar soars and when it starts to crash, you begin craving sugars/more high GI carbs. It is probably responsible for your tiredness. A convenient source to check the GI of foods is here:
http://www.glycemicedge.com/glycemic-index-chart/ but you can find the GI for any food online with Google. Controlling the GI impact on your blood is almost as important as your diet.
Dude, I am 54 years old

I weigh 180 and am 5'9". Having said that, I can see just in that last paragraph that you ate a baked potato

, and your Caesar salad most likely had a sugar laden dressing on it

and the beer

. Beer is not necessarily high in carbs or calories compared to foods, but in the alcohol world it is high in carbs (3-4g per 100ml), and high in calories (about 10cal per 100ml). Vodka, Gin and Whiskey have none. Wine is even higher than beer. If possible, you should eliminate the alcohol altogether or at least confine it to a single "binge" day. Your body will manage it better if it happens in a single day than it being a regular part of your diet.
Well, like Bluce said...there is no such thing as "old man bloating". What happens with us over 50 farts is that our metabolism slows down, our testosterone levels get lower, and we stop exercising like 30 year olds. The result is bloating, weight gain and in some men, impotence or ED. You have to make up for the slowdown and testosterone by increasing exercise and taking supplements and changing your diet. The result will be you dropping that water weight, raising energy levels and a general feeling of well being and focus.

. If you are not taking a daily multivitamin (buy the Senior Men's formula cause it has extra zinc), then start taking them. Buy a separate B-Complex supplement and take that. Vitamins are replacing what your body is no longer producing at the same levels, and what it does not need it will excrete with your urine.
I hope this helps.
