OM1. That's in no way an everyday breakfast for me, never fear.
The last time I weighed in the 170-180 range was back in 2006 and I had a 34" waste.
My average weight throughout the year now is between 210-215 lbs @ 5'10. I've been trying to bring that up another 5-10 lbs for the last year but it's not easy without putting on fat at some point. When I was in Canada, I didn't mind so much during winter but living in Miami means it's almost always beach season and i can't stand the idea of my abs disappearing even for a short period.![]()
I forgot to mention, ricotta cheese is a great source of protein. One cup of ricotta cheese made from whole milk contains 28g of protein, 7g carbs and 1g sugar. I can't stand cottage cheese because of its salty flavor and ricotta is an excellent alternative. The best tasting brand for me, by far, has been Polly-O ricotta cheese.
I love ricotta! I sometimes dip celery into it, and it makes an excellent layering in low carb lasagna with other cheeses. I will try that Polly-O brand on your tip.![]()
I'd like to apologise to OM and everyone I've insulted in this forum. My posts were based on unsubstantiated perceptions and incorrect, dated information. I shouldn't have commented on something I really haven't researched, and went off on a tangent. Sorry about that.
Depending on your level in a low carb diet, you can have great snacks unless you are in your induction (first two weeks). After that, you can have NUTS! This includes all varieties of nuts, sunflower seeds, and amongst the best to eat are almonds and macadamia nuts (because of the fat content). You can have CHEESE! Up to 4 ounces per day in Induction, and more after that. Cheese cubes are extremely satisfying, and you can have them with sliced meats like pepperoni and ham and roast beef. You can have fruits like pears, apples, apricots, plums, peaches, all low GI fruits. In the later stages of your diet when you are at your goal weight or 10 pounds away, you can have the higher GI fruits like grapes and bananas.
Other treats you can have are low carb ice cream (with sugar-free chocolate syrup) or carob syrup (avoid malitol). Im writing this because here on the 4th, I have lots of Atkins friendly meat (all meat) with barbeque sauce, and low carb snacks!
Anyway...to all Americans, Happy 4th of July!
I agree that much of it has to with what we eat, but not all of it. There are diseases that make you gain weight unless you are on a very strict regimented diet and sometimes that doesn't help. I use to weigh 454 pounds. I have been stricty watching what I eat and when. I have lost 78.2 pounds. I have Poly-cystic ovarian disease which cause excessive weight gain. So It isn't as simple as just change the way you eat and exercise. I just want people to understand that in some cases it is medical not just laziness.
California burger chain Slater's 50/50 may be bringing home the bacon, now that its menu features a burger made of 100 percent ground bacon. Not to gild the lily, but the Fourth of July-inspired The 'Merica burger comes topped with a slice of thick-cut bacon, bacon island dressing, and bacon flavored cheddar cheese. It's only nonbacon topping is an impressive sunny-side-up egg.
Folks in Cali, do they have these Slater's 50/50 restaurants near you? I'd imagine that it is hard to beat a 100% ground bacon burger!

I'm all for the all-protein diet but even I have my limits. I'm gonna puke if I keep looking at that.![]()
The 'Merica Burger is loaded with a sunny-side-up egg, thick-cut bacon, bacon island dressing and bacon cheddar cheese. It's available through July 31 at all three Slater's 50/50 locations--Huntington Beach, Anaheim Hill and San Diego.
Apparently you only have 3 weeks left to get one.

The '"Merica burger"? Americans got this shit all upside down, bro. They shouldn't flaunt these shortcuts to obesity and arterial obstruction with pride. It's f**king embarrassing.![]()
