More info about the upcoming movies (sorry for the crappy cut and paste):
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/look-star-wars-news-rumors/

  • Hamill and Fisher have been spotted working out, and the studio has assigned them each a nutritionist to help get in shape. Neither the studio nor the actors camps’ have confirmed any signings though.
  • Hamill met with Lucas to discuss the new trilogy, and has said he sees Luke taking on an Obi-Wan Kenobi-like mentor role.
Seven foot tall actors are being sought for a major role in the new film, which likely signifies a return of Chewbacca.

  • In July of 2013, J.J. Abrams was said to be unhappy about the production, including the release date and schedules, which he felt were being rushed. One of his biggest concerns though was the script. Unhappy with Arndt’s direction, he wanted to write the screenplay himself, and the studio was the one pushing for Arndt.
  • Anonymous sources working on the film claim that Arndt’s script was very good, but Abrams’ story is completely different, and will even feature different characters.
  • A subtitle and casting news are both expected to come before the end of the year.
  • Location scouting, production design, casting, and costume design are all well underway.
Episode VII may feature a female Sith antagonist.

Disney is eager to continue the Star Wars franchise, so the sequels will likely follow within 2-3 years of each other. Even if Episode VII is a financial failure (which is very unlikely), the sequels are as sure a thing as anything in Hollywood can be.

  • Depending on the success of Episode VII (specifically how the story is received), they may film Episodes VIII & IX back-to-back.
  • The main cast, both returning and new, are likely to sign a multi-picture deal.

:)

Why do I think JJ is going to piss off a LOT of Star Wars fans? I just know he will. He will do a JJ on something important to Star Wars fans like changing things in the canon, or technological blunders like having a curved light saber like a scimitar (something like that would be a BIG mistake!). He could ruin light sabers just by changing the sounds they make when being used. Its just that easy. How about if he changes the Yoda race, or "updates" the Millenium Falcon or the protocol droids? What if he invents a whole new maintenance droid and rips off R2D2's antics with it? I see all sorts of stuff where he could lose his audience. He is JJ Abrams. Its his NAYTCHA!

You know he's going to have to put his stamp on it. He won't be able to help himself. I can just imagine how he's going to "redesign" the Millenium Falcon because he can't leave well enough alone. And the light sabre redesign, he will probably do exactly what you predicted, oy!

If he uses the Millenium Falcon, Im sure he will change it. But I think he will use the first film to set the Star wars saga in a new JJ universe, and in that universe things will be different. I dont think he can use the alternate timeline thing, but he can either start before Phantom Menace or come after Return of the Jedi. If he comes before (this is where I think he will start), he can create new characters which do not exist in the later movies. But it means he can still use the light sabers and have Jedi and Sith and Wookies and use the Yoda race of aliens (he could actually use a younger Yoda himself since he was 900 years old in the later movies). He will lens flare it up too. Can you imagine if he just does something like changes the sound the light sabers make hen they are being used? He could have some sort of electric whoosh sound, or some other lame "other" sound rather than the effect we are used to. he could change how they come out of the saber handle too. What if the sabers "blinked" into shape instead of rising out of the handle? What if he creates light whips or light scimitars or eliminates the tech of the light saber and has it as a normal sword which glows? This is JJ we are talking about, dontcha know...

JJ is NOT getting his way with the script. Probably as a compromise, TPTB has brought in the same writer that wrote EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and RETURN OF JEDI (as well as INDIANA JONES).

JJ is going to contribute but the other man (I forget his name, its in one of my posts above) is "in charge" of the script.

I am pretty sure it has been established that these will be sequels, hence the numbering of the eps. Therefore and hopefully, JJ will not be able to mess around and get any "re-imagining" going on.

And a positive, as we have said before, is that he is actually a fan of SW something he admitted he was not with STrek.

"Mark Hamill was recently photographed eating junk-food and rummaging through street bins for cigarette ends"?????????

Maybe they can make him a Hutt instead. :( And just what is Princess Leah going to do? She should be a Queen now, She has Jedi powers as we have seen, so how will she fit in here? She wont be a Jedi since she was too old in the Return of the Jedi for training. I think JJ wants to have them in it so they will be on the credits and in the ads for the movie, much like he used Leonard Nimoy to give cred to his Star Trek movies.

I remember when Hamill was in a car wreck in between EMPIRE and JEDI, I think. His face cut cut up pretty bad and his injuries kept him "parked" for quite a while

He was putting on a lot of weight since and had issues with fitting the role for JEDI (or EMPIRE depending on when the crash was)

Since he is old now, maybe they could just put one of those tent like robes on him-like all the "ministers" or VIP's seem to wear in the SW movies.

Jedi wear robes to indicate that they are not supposed to be a military force.
In the EU of SW, the Jedi *did* make armour during the great hyperspace wars (the war between the Jedi and the Sith) yet put it aside after the end of the war to reinforce the notion that they were NOT supposed to be warriors.

Could you see Hamill try to fit into Storm Trooper armour now?

I'm pretty sure the crash happened between Star Wars and Empire. (I had a HUGE crush on him when I was a kid and any little detail about his life I devoured so I'm fairly certain that was the time frame.) I guess the accident was pretty bad and really messed up his face. You can tell he has a different nose in the first movie compared to all the rest. (Quite frankly, he looked like he got hit with the ugly stick in those other two movies)

*BTW, I had a ton of Star Wars bubble gum cards but lost them when my basement flooded back in the 90's. Lost my BSG cards too. :(

Yeah, without searching it I was fuzzy on when it happened.

I still have original SW bubble gum cards. To include the C3PO one. In it, he is standing sideways and the 'accident' of photography makes him look like he has an erection.

I have like 200 or so cards. Most are only worth .25 or so but a few are worth more.

I wish I still had my original SW action figures and PLANET OF THE APES figures. Don't know what the hell happened to them.
