I'm surprised the audience score is that high to be honest. I suspect paid shills have begun to infest that part of RT. The comments section from literally every legit article on STD shows the audience disliking it far in excess of 45%. That's just a fact.

The 45% is not what I was trying to point out here . There are no Critic reviews ? They have been removed ? Have the critics recanted about std ? Have they finally actually decided to take in an episode or 2 and see what horrors std has brought to ST ?

OMG! That episode is a good example of the writers being not as intelligent or as analytical as the Star Trek audience! It is also another example of this showrunner Kurtzman dropping the ball because he does not know how to play.

Sidenote: CBS pitched these Short Treks to Netflix (for $40 million) and they were not interested.

You guys in Canada can watch them on Space for free. The GALL of CBS to claim these short bus treks are separate from STD! These episodes are 100% putty productions to patch the gap between seasons. Runaway sucked and broke canon, and evidently this one sucked and broke canon too. By the time they open Season 2, it will be shredded even more than now.

I think more and more people realize they cannot trust the "Top Critics" when it comes to anything now. To me, the only top critics there are would be those who actually sit in an audience and spend money on a ticket.

“The Board of Directors of CBS has completed its investigation of former Chairman and CEO Leslie Moonves, CBS News, and cultural issues at CBS,” the company said in a statement Monday.

“With regard to Mr. Moonves, we have determined that there are grounds to terminate for cause, including his willful and material misfeasance, violation of Company policies and breach of his employment contract, as well as his willful failure to cooperate fully with the Company’s investigation. Mr. Moonves will not receive any severance payment from the Company,” they added.

I could grab some Visine and fake some tears, or I can just take another look at Discovery S01E02 and generate tears from laughter, but in reality I am just gloating. He is already a multi millionaire and so is his wife Julie Chen, so they aren't hurting. I see it as Karma's punishment for cancelling Enterprise, creating CBS All Access and greenlighting Star Trek Discovery (STD).

HAHAHA Kuntsman is so desperate to survive and now he wants a childish star trek. WTF? UGH! Now he's comparing it to Star wars too? What a fucking moron...Get this man fired.

Kurtzman needs to be forcibly removed from any and all things Star Trek. He absolutely does not know what he is doing. It is so serious what he is doing to the Star Trek IP that they should just GIVE him the money he contracted for and let him walk with it. There are several more qualified Star Trek alums who are still alive and able to give us real Star Trek (Jonathan Frakes, Levar Burton, Bryan Fuller, etc). The Orville proves that at least some people remember what Star Trek is supposed to look and feel like. And if there are questions about canon, they can be answered very easily by just watching the shows which have come before. I really wish I could ask each STD writer how much Star Trek they have watched. I would bet that none of them were fans of the original shows. They all appear to be there because they knew somebody or pulled a string or two. INCLUDING Kurtzman.

Okay, I can now say I have watched every episode of STD including the Short Treks. Yeah, it still sucks and is a complete trainwreck of a show. It really couldn't stand on it's own as a generic scifi show because of the fact they have borrowed so much from actual Star Trek that most of what is going on would not work without the references. There is just nothing to build on for Season 2 which can fix it. They are almost forced to double down on what they have already done.

Why do you torture yourself into watching such crap?

Not torture, just credibility. It is sorta stupid to rant about how horrible something is if I have not completely familiarized myself with the thing. When confronted with the question "Well, did you even give it a chance?", I can answer, "YES, I have seen every episode and also the Short Treks and I still hate it". I gave it more chances than it really deserved, but with all of the vitriol I am putting out there about this show, I want the fanboys of STD to know I watched every episode.
