Star Trek Discovery SUCKS.

I agree! No fun posting in a thread if everybody agrees! And that Anathema lady can have her own thread if she isn't cool with that!

How much of actual Star Trek have you watched thoroughly? Do you consider yourself a Star Trek fan? If so, a Casual fan, A Longtime fan, a basic but dedicated Trekkie, or a Trek Nerd (has costumes for cosplay, made a fan film, never misses a convention, etc). I consider myself a dedicated Trekkie, falling short of Trek Nerd. :)

I'm not a super trek fan but I like good scify with good written dialog. Besides discovery my other favorite star trek was deep space 9 because of the great drama and dialog. I watched all of them though.

Okay, so how are you coming away with "good drama and dialogue" after watching any episode of STD? I can dig up lines and scenes from every Star Trek show and hold them up as great drama and dialogue. I don't think Tilly will be getting an award for dropping her historical F-bomb.

You're saying this isn't cutting edge Star Trek? :confused0076:

hey, they went 'where no man has gone before' in trek dialogue

<<cheap i know, but i'll take it>>

Thing is, the activity she said was so f-ing cool really wasn't that cool.

The sad thing is the person who wrote that line thought it was cool. Wouldn't surprise me if Kurtzman was the one who penned that line. At the very least he was the one that approved it. There's no denying it.

I agree the language wasn't needed. They obviously did it for shock because they can because it's not on commercial tv. Good dialog doesn't need bad language to keep the viewer glued! And mostly it's really good dialog!

I watched that episode just to get the context for why Tilly would say that, and I did not see any reason for it. It just seemed like a line to cross so they crossed it. Lifting up her shirt and showing her naked boobs would have been just as effective in that scene.

Boobs are good!

Slow down there eager Timmy. What if Tilly's headlights are cockeyed or hairy or just a pair of deflated, sexless udders that make you feel depressed af by just looking at them? Sometimes when the clothes come off it ain't all peaches and cream, nome sayin'? ;)

It's a tv show! If they planned to show boobs they would for surely use an actress with a nice rack! Look at Stargate universe! They didn't choose Julia Benson just only for her great line delivery when she had something to say of course! She was also the on board eye candy!

Also? I think that was her ONLY role. And only her boobs. They should have each gotten a credit for the show. :) I guarantee you when you get to be my age, boobs and the juvenile attraction to them will go away.

Nice try but Julia Benson was hired for one reason and that wasn't her acting ability. From the very beginning she was misogynistically written as eye candy. They even did an episode where she played a Hooters waitress type. She had very few lines to deliver in any episode and when she did speak it wasn't to quote Pythagoras or wax poetic ala Emile Zola. It was mostly just screeching for Eli to stop perving on her.

I actually feel sorry for Ms. Benson because the role was so poorly written. She was basically a walking, talking blow-up doll, which we all know isn't sexist at all. :rolleye0014:

She served a very important military role on the Destiny. Her lines weren't a lot but they had meaningfulness! Ok so they gave her good dialog not a lot and eye candiness.

Lt. Vanessa "Sweater Hams" James is just one brick in the wall of stupidity that is Stargate Universe. It's a big wall, there are many bricks. ;)

COME ON, man! You are just being silly now. :) Do you assume nobody here has watched the show? We LITERALLY reviewed and rated every single episode. There were no military roles on Destiny, only parts filled by military personnel because that was who went through the gate. Lt. Tits had no role except to bounce and to pick out Chloe's smallest blouse to wear to enhance her chest. Oh, and to use her back to scrub the walls of the broom closets where she gets banged by every guy on the ship (except Eli).
