lol funny how their opinion changes haha but it still looks like a wreck.Sorry but you dicks don't deserve to be on Star trek or the name. It takes a special group of people and writers to create that magical moment that old trek gave us.

Ugh. I have no interest in this show.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing a show about Captain Pike but certainly not in this context. I shudder when I think about how badly the writers are going to butcher this character.

It is more than just the characters in this show though. :moody: Its the dumb camera angles, the busy, frenetic warp drive effect, the bright lights and lack of any depth to the storytelling. I managed to watch about 5 episodes of last season, choking them down. None of them were particularly memorable except the dumb mirror episode where Mary Sue Burnham ate a mouthful of Kelpien (Saru's race). The absolutely dumb disco episode, and a couple more. Its the writing here that is so deeply flawed. The casting is okay, but the characters are contrived to appeal to different segments of the SJW agenda rather than be individuals with interesting personalities.

I wonder if they actually realize how much that trailer shouts "we've changed everything for season two as we know we completely botched season one"....

You don't like it because the show is not honest and down to earth.

Meh, I don't like it because it isn't Star Trek. :) It is a travesty. I don't like it because the writing is lazy and stupid, and the characters are dumb. I don't like it because there is no science in the show. I don't like the ship designs, the music, so many things! I have been clear about what I don't like about the show :)

This may sound nit picky but honestly I found those "space boots" you posted awhile back to be a perfect example of how the folks at STD don't take things seriously. It's a minor style detail but an important one. They look like a caricature of 1970's disco attire, and as we all know 1970's fashion was comical to begin with. Whoever came up with that choice as Star Trek attire is a moron. This show really is a turd.

The reasons to dislike STD are legion:

- Intensely unlikeable main character

- Overall bad writing
- Infested with SJW crap
- Fraudulently appropriating the name and setting of Star Trek

I still think it is funny that the trailer for the new season looks like they rebooted the entire show. But somehow I doubt they really did it.

My memory goes back to when Star Trek Voyager started out good but the writing went off the rails in the second season and no one was happy, so new management came aboard (might have been Rick Berman?). And they performed real and drastic surgery on the show such as:

a) Dumped the Kazon
b) De-emphasized Neelix and Chatokay
c) Tried to use Kes in darker stories, and when it did not work got rid of her
d) More emphasis on the Doctor, Janeway and Torres
e) Brought on Seven of Nine to have a true "outsider" character

And it worked! But I don't have the same confidence in this crew as I did then.

I agree, the trailer is deceiving. If I recall correctly they had at least 6 episodes of season #2 completed before they fired those incredibly lousy writers so that means the Pike story line is their baby so to speak. There is a chance they might have been trying to "fix" things at that point but I'm convinced it was/will be too little, too late. Or, as someone once pointed out in regards to a burnt batch of onion rings: "You can't un-fry things." STD can't be "un-fried". It was ruined in the first season with lousy lousy characters and horrendous writing. No amount of retconning will fix that.

*I'm actually chuckling at how the producers aren't sure what to do about Michael Berman. The fact that they downplay her in the trailer proves that they know she's a wholly unlikable character. But at the same time they can't get rid of her because she's a black woman and she can't be allowed to fail and SJW nonsense blah blah blah. They would be crucified if they got rid of Sonequa Martin-Green. So here they are stuck with a bad actress portraying a repulsive lead character in a production that's eating 100 times the amount of cash it's bringing in. It's hilarious. :icon_lol:

Yeah it's unbelievable that they let the same people who fucked up royally have another go. "Guys you've done a great job sewing contempt among the fan base, but half of them are still hanging on. Could you do something about that?". "Well, what if we took someone who is the face of Star Trek and used him to tear it all down?". "Sounds like a plan! What do you need?". "Well... just get me a signed blank check. That should suffice for now.".

I am taking all this Patrick Stewart news with a grain of salt. I don't have any doubt that he will act his part awesomely, but because Kurtzman is going to be behind it, that means that whatever "trek" serves as the framework is most likely to be along the lines of the Kelvin/STD/vapid crap that Kurtzman so excels at. Nothing will seem familiar except Stewart, and Captain Picard's name. They will do a Last Jedi on his character and have him doing things he would never do in real Star Trek. They will ignore all the other characters who have been in his life like Geordi, Troi, Guinan, etc etc. If they ever talk about the Enterprise and show it, the ship will be noticeably different (Enterprise E?) and will look more like Discovery inside and out and have a windshield on it. Perhaps they will make the first trailer for it have music from some band like Backstreet Boys or some dumb shit.

Its still not gonna be what we want, I am afraid.
