Ratings II

Sorry for missing the German ratings today. It's plain and simple: Can't find exact numbers. All I have is the MA in percent, and that (again) poor True Blood is involved into the downfall of the franchise.

Okay, MA for BOTH episodes of SGU on Wednesday on RTL2 are 2.7 % MA. Both episodes got the same number here.

So I just saw on tvbythenumbers about that site tracking TV show activity across social networking sites. To be honest the results are a bit odd. I mean it's nice to see Stargate Universe on top but it just kind of proves the audience it lost was the casual one. Still Stargate is still relevant somewhere so thats cool i guess.

The real interesting information i found interesting is that Conan is so high. While his numbers aren't as high as they could be, he's really carved himself an audience that will still be around in 10-20 years. So good for him embracing the digital age.

Yeah but Conan is a barbarian.
Barbarians are cool.
You know. ;)

Actually it just kinda proves nothing.

Look at what it is measuring and how. Social media, namely Twitter, Facebook, Miso & Getglue. It does not distinguish by country of origin nor uniqueness of activity therefore a handful of people around the world can go on a spam campaign and knock up huge numbers. Numbers that cannot be directly related to the USA viewing audience. And the Sentiment is determined by a program, I'd love to see some test data on it's accuracy.

Basically trying to tie Trendrr information to the viewing audience is bogus at best.

From the Trendrr website :
Q. What are you tracking around each show?
A. We are tracking various queries per television program across the above social networks. The queries include, but are not limited to:

  • Show title
  • Characters and actors
  • @replies
  • #hashtags pertaining to show title, the characters and key show phrases

Q. How is sentiment determined?
A. Sentiment is determined by applying proprietary, natural-language processing tools based on machine-learning algorithms to each shows dataset; the result is the categorization of positive, negative or neutral. Results are displayed as a percentage.

Those two crystal balls beside your Avatar look pretty impressive. And do give some weight to all your arguments regarding ratings. ;)

Then again, it IS kinda interesting to see how he got the winning score two times in a row.
Is he just a good guesser?
Or is he secretly a very skilled hacker who got into the Nielsen ratings to doctor them? :D

If only there were Crystal Balls being given out at "that other place", Mr. A would have at least 3 that I know of off hand. :) In fact, they were CONSECUTIVE, if I recall. Scary. :icon_e_confused:

You're right: 3 in a row during season 2.0, with more people guessing to boot! :anubis-pancarte01:

Now it was time to let some worthy successor take over. :P

The ratings for this episode will be a tossup again IMO. On the one hand the general consensus seems to be that this was a good episode (or at least better than the last 2), and on the other "The Hunt" is coming on the back of another weak episode which seems to have pissed both SGU and SGA fans alike. SGU fans were the people sticking to the show, but SGA fans were probably casual viewers the show needs so badly for its ratings.

Hopefully it won't take as long this time and we'll find out in the next few hours. :)

Unfortunately my prediction powers haven't worked as well in the lottery so far. BUT, if you all of a sudden see an IP Address in the Bahamas or Tahiti, you'll know something "good" happened! :icon_lol:

Live+7 for "Alliances" (21 March 2011) = 1.24 million.

So based on the L+7 figures - it has fallen a lot.

Peak was (1x03) "Air" [Part 3] with 2.99 million. Lowest so far is (2x13) "Alliances" with 1.24 million. L+7 has the direct correlation to L+SD. Both sets of data states that, over a space of a year, SGU has managed to turn off around 50% of its initial viewers.

We're waiting for the ratings...

We already have the reputation of being the first Stargate/Scifi forum to bring out the ratings for SGU as soon as they're available every week, most of the times within the minute. Unless MediaSav who has direct access to them posts them on GW - in which case we're a close second ;)

So we're keeping an eye on Travis and MediaSav and will post them on this thread for you guys to comment soon. Stay tuned! :)
