Creation’s Vancouver Con begins this week

He is sneaky with the blaming. Saying things like, "The idea for SGU was all Robert's. He had to talk me into it." And, "Robert insisted the lighting had to be dark..."

Maybe if I post a little bit at a time, I'll gain enough posts to access flaming hell again.

*cough* Creation has a strict policy against video or audio recording *cough* That would be wrong.

Well, I was in the front row, wearing my Atlantis shirt, and did a lot of eyerolling and pretty much refused to look at him the whole time. It was sad how many people cheered for him. I was expecting more of a negative reaction than he got. And when one negative question did come up, he practically yelled at her, "I think I know who you are!" Like she's the only one. Sheesh!

Dude sounds a bit delusional. How could he know any one person? he knows a lot of fandom are not happy about how it all went down and how sgu turned out. But those sentiments are not being expressed by 1 person, they are being expressed by hundreds of people online and more by just turning the show off the tv.

BW - pt 2

…MGM hasn’t been able to function as a studio for quite a while really. Charlie Cohen has been a huge champion of our show, but but, he’s been one guy, and there isn’t even a television division at MGM right now. There’s going to be, but they went through a bankruptcy, which, y’know, made it difficult. You need your studio to try and work with the network at the beginning of the season, when there was no studio. So, that made it difficult, but uh, I can’t help but think, it’s such a real franchise that there will be either another movie down the road, another series down the road. I pitched, the movie I was going to write (Oh, you’re going to LOVE this one!) was a SG-1/Atlantis/SGU (garble) that had cast from all three series in it. It was going to be fun. (I think we all know who would or would NOT have been in this mythical movie, had it been made. Anyone else thinking SGU wrap up, with guest stars McKay, Carter & Jackson?) But, uh, that window closed.

BW - pt 3 First of the very big lies

So, there’s only one other thing that I want to get off my chest. Now that I’m here, and now that I no longer have a show on SyFy, I just want you guys to know, because I still get letters, I did not cancel Atlantis. (laughter and clapping from stupid audience. Grinding of teeth and eyerolling from the rest of us) I would not cancel (more clapping) I was making a lot of money off that show. (Brad’s got his priorities, after all!) and it was something Robert and I were very proud of, and we would have loved it to go on for years. (Excuse me, while I gag on all the lies.) But, when a network cancels one of your shows, (So, now it’s back to being SyFy’s fault!) and wants to do something else with you, it’s very difficult not to do what they say. What they asked me to do, and what MGM asked me to do, was to say was, it was all of our idea. We all decided to cancel the show. So, some of my statements were couched in that context. And what I really wanted to say was, No! They cancelled my show! Anyway, off my chest.

The gall!

Yeah, Brad, you were so proud of Atlantis you called it "bubble gum" and even refused to acknowledge the existence of SGA canon during SGU. Then you blamed SGA fans for SGU's failure, but not SG1. And RCC still speaks of his work with SGU as "the best", while putting down the acting of SGA actors. Right... dry.gif

Ooh, Syfy cancelled the show and then MGM asked you to lie about it for them???
So now Syfy is making "creative decisions" and MGM is conspiring to kill profitable shows behind the public's back?

I can hardly wait until Briangate comes around, but I think his comments on this might have to go directly to FH. :icon_lol:

call me egotistical but I wouldn't be surprised if he thought her screen name was Rac80! ;)

It is funny, you would think that somebody like MGM would have him sign some type of a NON Disclosure agreement if they were going to ask him to lie for them :icon_e_surprised:. I have all my employees/ind contractors do it, and when they are no longer employed/associtated they are still bound by it. So, I guess we are to believe that I must be smarter than the "not a real studio" billion dollar PTB at MGM are? Who would've guessed?

Im loathe to get to riled up as we need some footage and other attendees to confirm Naked's comments - no offence intended, but i always like to have either vids/outside source like an interview or at least other attendees confirming the same thing. I find it way strange that no one else from the con has posted about brad's panel, hes like an important part of the franchise?

Ok, agreed, I find it hard to believe that he would accuse MGM of that.

These reports seem to be a transcription, so I believe what they say. At the time of the con appearance, there were several tweets from people saying BW was saying "I did NOT cancel Atlantis." Seems completely in character for him to try to put the blame elsewhere. On the other hand, I do believe that the network is completely capable of doing what he said for PR purposes. Just no way to confirm or verify his statements.

Wait...do you have this on audio or something? There is no way a person could remember this

Yes, it's a transcription.

Good point. He started things off by saying, "Now that I don't have a show on SyFy..." as if that was the only thing stopping him from telling the truth before.

No offense taken, but I guess there's no point in posting more, unless someone else steps up to back it up. It was kind of sickening, the way the audience fawned all over him. Shouting out "We love you, Brad!", etc. It's easy to say you'd let him have it, but not so easy when surrounded by sycophants you have to spend the rest of the day with. Had I come armed with specific quotes - and that was my bad - I would have spoken up more than I did.

Don't know why anyone is surprised by what he said about MGM, given the other stupid things he's been saying since the end of SGA. It's par for the course for him.

As for why no video/audio footage out there? It is against Creation policy, so maybe it's one thing to risk getting caught while taping your favorite actor, and quite another when it's Brad Oh So Wrong Wright. Most of my friends refused to even take a picture of him. They didn't want to sully their cameras.

I, for one, certainly hope you'll post the rest of the talk! I very much enjoy hearing the entirety of what he says, rather than peoples watered down version posted on Gateworld, Wormhole Riders and other sycophantic sites!

I hope Brad kept some evidence to back up his claims - I really do. It's not hard to believe that Syfy wanted a Battlestar replacement rushed out there to pair with Caprica. It certainly would seem that was the direction that network was going in. Plus in their eyes - shiny new show = ratings money.
Plus with MGM its not hard to sympathize that it was a crappy situation to be in, they were a complete mess.

Seriously just a few emails to back up his claims would be nice - mainly for him. IMO he's done a great job with Stargate over the years and for him to be blamed for its demise is a shame.

Please continue to post the bits you have. all i was trying to get accross, is that its better to have more than one source should anyone want to take the info you have provided over to say, GW or syfy forum. its easy to debunk one poster than it is 2 or 3 attendees.

I guess your right but creation normaly put up vids from the con aswell, maybe im just to keen to see them and thats why im getting frustrated.

aal the info you have given us is much appreciated :)

The only reason I find it hard to believe is because I would expect him to be getting a letter from MGM's attorneys soon. A little thing called slander or defamation of character. I certainly would if I were them. I guess , he also has decided he will never again have anything to do with them again in the future. But , I am quite curious to hear more. No Offense intended.
