Darn quotes would have been handy. But yay for more corroboration!
I suggest every SGA fan send him one piece of quote he said about us.
It could be "Unfortunately, we need millions, not thousands."
or "You guys [SGA fans] are actually pretty predictable. Unfortunately, you represent a very small portion of the actual viewing audience we need for financial success."
It's all on google, Brad boy.
Let's not forget that many of the early stuff Mallozzi put out against SGA fans was probably done so for his boss Brad Wright as well, as I can't imagine JM would turn against the show he himself had been running and was even hoping a movie would come out...
I think this is a learned speculation too. I completely agree with you. It seems that Brad coached Mallozzi to say much of what he said, and the reason Brad gave him was probably along the lines of "Cmon, Joe! You are the one who is internet savvy, and you have a rapport with the fans!". Its easy to see now, since Joe rarely fields questions about SGU or Stargate anymore. The real question now, is what will Brad do with his career after Stargate? Joe and the rest have moved on to new projects, but what is Brad planning?
He'll probably regroup for a bit, then realize he's got a mortgage to pay and a second chin to feed and he'll get back to work. I suspect we'll get a pseudo sci-fi show, replete with teeny boppers in the lead, that will be heavily hyped as being from "The creator of Stargate!"
I dunno...Brad still has a lot in him as a writer, but he will have to get used to being part of a Team of writers and not the boss. Im not sure he can do that. I doubt any of the studios will let him be a showrunner. Perhaps he and Rob can come up with a movie which is not Stargate related? There's no way someone of BW's ego can sit back and watch others have success in the same realm, which it what is happening. "Sanctuary", "Eureka", "WH13" -- the existence and success of these shows is an affront to BW (certainly on a subconscious level) because his grand opus SGU turned out to be such an unmitigated failure. There will be a need to come up with something in the same vein as the successful shows I just mentioned because this man's ego won't allow him to go out on a failing note.
So, I'd say within the next year he will be attached to something like I described.
Yep, he will be using that feather for decades to come. But the thing is, he also has to carry around that tail he grew after creating Stargate Universe amd then continuing to push it after it was already soundly rejected by fans and the mainstream viewing audience. If you were creating a show, and you received his resume and looked him up on the internet to get a "feel" for the guy, would you hire him? Nuff said.

Well, clearly it's mainstream failure with certain audiences only means that SGU was a work of misunderstood art. Only those who understood the depth and nuances could truly appreciate it for the masterpiece it was.I think the spin that he will use to turn lemons into lemonade will be to claim that SGU was a critical success. Working with the dictum that if you tell a lie enough times it becomes the truth I have no doubt that BW will do whatever he can to get people to believe that SGU was a cinematic masterpiece chock full of intellectual themes all about the human condition blah blah blah. He knows he won't be able to hide SGU from anyone looking at his "resume" so he'll be forced to take the other route and promote it as being a cinematic work of art. And as we all know true artists are never appreciated within their contemporary milieu.

In short he will be using SGU's failure as a badge of authenticity towards his stature as a creative genius. So be prepared for the implication that we, the lowly Stargate fans, we're too stupid and unrefined to appreciate such a deep and meaningful show as SGU. All we can understand is pew pew laser blasts and explosions. A genius such as BW can't be expected to succeed with an audience of dullards, can he?
Then I guess "Flash Gordon" must have been one of the most deep and widely misunderstood masterpieces of art to hit the Syfy channel in recent history!Well, clearly it's mainstream failure with certain audiences only means that SGU was a work of misunderstood art. But then, of course, once it's truly understood, it will become popular and then crassly commercialized. As true genius always is.
