Wonder what the numbers are for this show? Are they dropping steadily or holding strong? Will this show be renewed? It's a shame our resident ratings number cruncher has decided to focus on matriculating at that swank Swedish university instead of updating us on all things TV related.

But regarding SHIELD's ratings, it's doing decent. The numbers were constantly dropping all the way until episode eight before finally upticking with the last episode. I suspect the show will be fidning its sweet spot around 7-8 million viewers and as long as the demos stay around the mid-2s we'll probably see a second season in its future. Now if it starts dropping down to the low 2s/high 1s there will be cause for concern, but for now its holding steady.
As for May jumping in bed with Grant I'm getting the feeling from May that it's not much more than "letting some steam off" for her while Grant could be getting the idea that it's something more going on. I hope it won't turn out that way, but IMO it seems like its heading down that route.
They need to NOT create any interpersonal sexual trysts in this show. That always seems to ruin these shows. After the lesbian kissing scenes in Primeval: New World, ratings dropped like a stone and the show got canceled. SGU saw drops like that as well. Nothing wrong with sexual relationships, just dont try and mix them in to science-fiction-esque shows. Who is wanting to see them? It sometimes can work, like the way they did B'Elanna and Tom Paris in Voyager. It isnt working in the nuTrek between Uhura and Spock.

I like this show, but I think they are making big blunders by shipping the characters. This ensemble works well together but they could ruin the balance if they ship the characters. They so far only had a one-time sexual encounter between two main characters, but it did not ruin it...yet. If they stick to the stories, then I will still watch.

It has dropped to 6.8, but its DVR, core demo and women demo is up, so I wouldn't be looking at a cancel until perhaps halfway through S2 at least.
I actually don't mind her character in this one, go figure
