Is anyone watching this show regularly? I watched the first ep and that was enough for me.

I watched the 1st and I think the beginning of the 3rd (?), the one where the truck was levitated and the scientist inside kidnapped. Then I clicked away after I smelled 20 something love angst brewing between 2 of the characters.

Nope, I'm watching it too even though I'm not 100% sure if I like it yet. Though I will say that things are getting better, and in the future I hope there will be more episodes like the last one, because that one proved that the show is at its strongest when it goes all "Alias" and focuses on the espionage/spy-fi storylines.

Yep, in the same boat as you ESA, pretty indifferent to the whole show.
I don't hate it, but I am not a huge fan of it either, if it's on, I watch, if not, meh.

Because it was straightforward and honest. My favorite mode. :)

You'd better get cracking at "liking" all of Jim's posts in "Jim's Corner", then. He's about as straightforward and honest as you can get.

I do it all the time. :)

Back to the show...

This show is a solid storytelling piece IMO. Sorta like a bread and butter show you watch because its entertaining and un-boring and the scenery and locales are familiar. I get the feel that the reach of S.H.I.E.L.D is international from the use of Swedish locales, other international locales, etc. I like the diversity of the villains too. They also did well by not raising the bar of the show to the level of Avengers or Marvel's other big screen movies. If they had done that, we would have lots of extra CGI and explosions and such, plus I think the show would have been more expensive. I imagine they will have some sort of limited presence of somebody from Asgard (not Thor or Loki or any of those), or perhaps one of Tony Stark's guys with some outlandish tech. Sorta like "special appearances". The ratings for this show are slipping:

http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/10/23/agents-of-shield-need-a-superhero-ratings-slip-again/

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was the biggest drama premiere in four years last month. But the ambitious action drama series is increasingly starting to look a bit more like its time-slot rival, The Biggest Loser.

Last night S.H.I.E.L.D. had 7.1 million viewers and a 2.6 rating among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m. This is still a good rating at this hour, especially when ABC has also launched freshman dramas that are much lower rated, like Lucky 7, Betrayal and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. Yet here’s how the Marvel series has fared so far in the adult demo: 4.7 for the show’s premiere, then 3.3, 2.9, 2.8 and now a 2.6.
It’s common for even successful and long-running new shows to drop the first two weeks after their launch, or even for three weeks. But now we’re seeing some new shows stabilize or even improve in the ratings — last night, under-achievers like Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine and ABC’s The Goldbergs finally crept up a bit. On Monday night, CBS’ Mom went up for the first time and Hostages held steady. Yet S.H.I.E.L.D is still going down

I know you h8tas gonna hate. :) But at least I can sit through entire episodes of it. I cant even watch more than 10 minutes of the Warbling Dumb.

Okay, we are at Episode 9 of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, and they have started messing things up. Overall, I really like the show. :) But there is not enough in the way of standard Marvel superheroes going on in the show. It is sorta like the "downtime" between major events like the battle in NY shown in The Avengers, and the stuff involving Tony Stark and Captain America and the others. They get mentions (especially Thor), but nothing gets shown from Asgard. So in Episode 8, we get an Asgardian and some Asgard tech in the show but he is on earth and has been here for a thousand years or so. He is not one of the warrior class, and overall the episode was meh. Anyway, the characters in this show have not been involved in any real serious shipping, even though there is a lot of flirting going on in the show. We have street smart hacker sexy girl Skye and badass special forces square jawed handsome dude Grant Ward flirting throughout the first 8 episodes, but in Episode 9 it starts out with Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) getting out of bed after having slept with Grant.. None of the other characters have slept with each other except these two (as we now see), and it came out of nowhere. Ming-Na's character May is very cool in this show. It contrasts sharply with her stupid character in SGU, and she is a badass with awesome fighting skills. But her sleeping with Grant? Made no sense. Sky has the hots for him, but he rejects her overt advances. Skye and Grant make a better shipping pair if they must be shipped.

Anyway, the show is drifting into the "interpersonal relationships" area, and that is bad news if you are billed as an action/adventure series. Im getting turned off. :( But I have watched every episode so far and I will continue to watch until it becomes unbearable.
