Why do I picture something like this happening with the new star trek crew.
I think he is wearing contacts because he wears corrective lenses. His eyes are blue naturally, I believe.
Dude, I was just talkin' trash. It's actually a good pic of him. I am surprised that he hasn't gotten Lasiks though, but maybe that can't correct his vision. It doesn't work for some people.
The only time a Lasiks procedure can't fix your vision is when it's unrelated to the cornea. Weakened lens muscles are one example.
I thought it doesn't fix farsightedness? A buddy of mine has wanted it for years but he's farsighted and says they can't do it.
This movie could have easily been a Star Wars movie spinoff. I could EASILY see Abram's Enterprise landing at Coruscant, or see Han Solo landing his Millenium Falcon in the shuttle bay. Throw a black helmet on Cumberbach in this last movie and say he is Darth Vader's cousin . To me, this Star Trek was cheeseless pizza on gluten free crust.

Bumping this because I pretty much got it right. Cumberbach was SOOOOOOOOO not Kahn. Why did they even go there? The least they could have done is thaw out the other sleepers and have them attempt to take over the ship. But that line of discussion is moot. Abrams just wanted to have him in the movie because that was the most successful Trek movie from the old timeline. But that Kahn was a continuation from the TV series and he was a fleshed out character. If Abrams does the third film, Trek is done. It cant continue on in this same direction if they want to revive interest in it. There are too many other franchises which will eat it's lunch. There is nothing in it for the thinking audience. Only for the mass audience who thinks Transformers and Avengers is science fiction.
Please DESTROY the Enterprise GT, send Spock back to Logic School, and euthanize that crusty faced alien hanging out with Scotty.
I don't see how he is Khan anyhow--being a parallel universe where each person his who he his (another words; Kirk is not white in one Uni and Chinese in the other- Uhura is African in both and not changed, etc) SO, what happened to Noonien Singh? Wasn't that Khan's real name from TOS?
How do they get a central asian /indian warlord out of some guy with a western European/american background and name?
Picky, picky I know, but I haven't seen it and no one has filled in on how this guy is "Khan".
Outside of the canon for a moment, its purely making sure they don't upset the minorities from saying "DATS RACIST" by having a white, english spoke person then no body is offended. Design by committee is the problem with a lot lately (not just with this) as it was evident in the first Star Trek where someone awkwardly shouted "MY GOD THIS IS A SAUSAGE FEST" so we have Uhura on the front screen also to appease the anti sexism crowd, because heaven forbid a cast were it was defined by their characters and not by gender. Can't possibly have that!
British aren't really minorities. They spawned pretty much all the English speaking nations. Abrams just decided to go with the stereotypical British-accented villain bullshit like in all sci-fi movies and TV shows.
by having a white, english spoke person then no body is offended.
Never suggested we were.
I was just suggesting that there was also another level added to this other than Abrams own fan wank (or lack of creativity if you will), if we have say villain person of middle eastern or Indian then people will easily mistake that for essentially being 'Arabs in space and they are still evil', because essentially you have a vast majority of white cast members, you'll get those knee jerk reactions and sadly the production people mostly pander to that crowd, or fall over backwards, or bend ov... I'll stop before I mention Amsterdam in the analogy.
In TOS, Data's creator was Dr. Noonien Soong, who is a descendant of geneticist Arik Soong who believed he could create enhanced humans like Khan Noonien Singh without the viciousness, though they're not related nor did they ever meet.
Ok, but how can this guy be Khan? The Ricardo Montalban character was said to be Indian/south or central Asian-not an Englishman.
If the new trek movies are parallels to TOS happenings without major changes to characters, then how is Khan no longer Asian?
and, just what were those seemingly jet powered aircraft doing a flyover? An antique airshow?
Question.
Does Abram's ST follow on from ENT as ENT is now the Canonical "beginning" of Starfleet?
You're absolutely correct. I misunderstood you.
That being said, everyone knows very well that villains are always British! Abrams was merely correcting that error made in the original.
Christ, I hate this movie!
No problem , and you clearly don't understand the British education system we currently have compulsory villain and madmen classes in High School and super Villains for those who apply for University, since we have major industry in the exports of villains around the world we have top of the line well spoken geniuses that are in the process of world domination.
All of our villains are plot sensitive and can become utter morons when the time is needed.

Okay so I circum to temptation and watch the bloody thing last night and needless to say, it was barely watchable movie but not as a star trek movie. However, what pisssed me off were a lot of things. This felt like a star wars movie rather than a star trek movie. I hope I am not the only one who saw this?
Pros
Here is where new star trek fails. There will be more to add once I'll remember.
- Generally overall acting was good and the lines somewhat funny but it wasn't as funny as the first one. Benedict Cumberbatch however, played a pretty badass role for a bad guy.I really liked his character and how he played him.
- Full on action. This movie is jammed packed full of it. A little too much for a star trek movie though
- Impressive CGI. Nicely done this.
- A few cool technology concepts that I liked.
Cons
4/10 for me...barely.
- Dear lord, the over use of lense flare nearly blinded me. Stop this crap already! Every single damn pan shot resulted in that stupid flare popping up. I was also annoyed when they went into warp.
- Didn't like the uniforms. Pretty crap and disgusting
- Bridge again is too damn white. I think JJ wants to permanently blind everyone.
- Plot was shallow and lacked depth. Not to mention this is not what happens in the wrath of Khan...
- Klingon had a very minor role which pissed me off. Not only that but their look looks even more hideous than the one TNG had.
- This is a star wars movie not a star trek movie.
- Poor sense of physics. Ugh.
- Shakey BSG BS cams are back.
PS don't ask JJ to direct/produce the next star trek.
