Wright blames fans... and so it begins

Wright:
I don’t think if we for any reason go away, it is an issue necessarily of the quality of the product that we’ve been making,” said executive producer and co-creator Brad Wright. “I think getting moved on the schedule has hurt us. And the fact that some of the fans that liked SG-1 and Atlantis were so angry that they have deliberately hurt us, which is unfortunate.”

Unbelievable. I left a comment, but it's in moderation.

All our fault, eh?

Apparently it either hasn't dawned on him or he just plain refuses to accept, that they are making an inferior product.

We'd been taught to expect only the best, and suddenly they're giving us ice milk instead of ice cream. Can't blame us for their bait and switch tactics.

OMG!!! Can you say "denial"? How, in any way, shape or form have we deliberately hurt SGU??? The word 'deliberate' implies that action was taken to hinder and/or hamper SGU. Nothing active was done, in fact, TPTB weren't stopped or hampered from carrying out their SGU vision exactly as they wanted.

The only thing done by us fans of the SG franchise was to offer passive criticism. Passive criticism is just that -- passive, it doesn't have some magic power to compel people to subscribe to the viewpoint of said criticism. No amount of opining on a website can actively force anyone to turn away from supporting SGU, it has to be a personal decision to do so. There is no way that the criticism that comes from this site could have deliberately swayed millions of people away from SGU. Were that it was so, but that's not the case and BW knows it. He was just taking another cheap shot at us loyal fans. What an absolute sad excuse for a human being BW is.

I am just so absolutely floored by this ignorant comment of his that I need to take a walk and get some fresh air. The stench of shit coming from BW's mouth is too much to stomach. He's even gotten me to swearing, sigh. Where's my coat?

The entire article is nauseating. They're completely ignoring the fact that most of us did tune in at the beginning and wanted to give the show a fair chance. They're the ones that gave us utter garbage and tried to convince us that it was brilliant art.
We're obviously more intelligent than they give us credit for.
We're not buying your crap, and you cannot make us feel guilty for hating it.

Indeed..

I find it rather sad that the opinion peice seems to think the shows misfortune is due to fans punishing the show. No ones punishing it i think. And I dont think fans who tuned out are beliveing Atlantis will be back. Its just that the new show stinks and doesnt appeal. David blue says it in the article;

".....We wanted to bring in more than just 1.6 million fans from Atlantis....."

Well they achieved that at least 62% a fair number assuming that that percentage is all atlantis fans that came over....But wheres this world thing?., No growth in viewership just declining numbers, thats for sure. Could it be that the show isnt attracting new viewers because maybe, its just not worth watching?, and maybe dancing with the stars is more enjoyable than this?

Its very sad to see recent quotes by wright blaming sites like this, and the fans for his and other producers error(s) in judgment. Its equally sad when the producers were mocking the fans back in season 1 saying we didnt get it. Or them try to spin everything and trick us into watching the show promising changes where their truly werent any. Nope. Unconvinced. Ill watch my star trek TNG dvds next tuesday instead.

Exsqueeze me?
Baking-powder?

First there was 'not enough of us to make a difference' and now suddenly we're omnipotent?
I wish we had that kind of power, then there would only be good television.

I'm not sure if Brad knows this, but when he points a finger, there's three fingers pointing right back at him.

I was so enraged by this that I started a new thread by accident. I also went on a Twitter rant and I just hope that some of those rabid SGU fans try to engage me. Rawr.

Pathetic

Hmmm....what was it that Brad said on January 2nd on Joe Mallozzi's blog?

“Were you surprised by the reaction of fans to the announcement of the cancellation of SGA and the start-up of SGU?”

BW: No. You guys are actually pretty predictable (take no offense, most fan groups are). Unfortunately, you represent a very small portion of the actual viewing audience we need for financial success.

What despicable, dishonourable, immature, pathetic, behavior. He should be ashamed.

And of course, like has already been pointed out, the supposed "angry Atlantis fans" by and large gave SGU a chance. Many gave it five or more episodes. Brad Wright is a coward. He should own up to his mistakes. SGU sucks.

oh ffs not this shit again. WHY THE **** does everyone blame SGA? I loved boh SGA and SG-1, and although very upset, opened my eyes on universe, turns out it was just a piece of garbage. For the love of god, stop blaming atlantis fans for the crappy rating. We are punishing the show because it's SHIT, it has nothing to do with the Atlantis cancellation. A lot of us grew up and gave this show a chance but turned out to be a stinker why can't people get it through their thick heads?

I love how at first, our numbers are so low as to mean nothing to the success or failure of SGU, and then, now that things are so definitely looking shitty, we're responsible for its failure.

I posted something - it's in moderation now. Just had to point out Brad's hypocrisy with his January quote - in a level-headed, polite fashion, without curse words. So, there is not reason it shouldn't be approved, unless the author is a coward just like Brad. I have a screenshot that I'll post here if it doesn't make it through.

Since it apparently doesn't fit in with his narrow view of the world, I suspect it will be declined.

Just another version of cherry picking opinions to support one's view of things.

It's amazing this guy has not been terminated yet. He has broken a very important rule in business over and over: Don't insult your customers/clients. I honestly would never commit to watching another show by these clowns in the future. It's a testiment to his hubris that he still can't accept that maybe SGU is a pile... no Mount Olympus load of shit and that is why it has been far from a critical success.

I seriously still don't get it.
How the heck did we manage to get the show cancelled?
We didn't do anything to the show, we didn't to anything to the writers, the script, the actors, not even the fans at least not until they attacked us, then we spoke up, but how does that affect the decision the guys at syfy(sic!) make?

If by not watching a show someone is automatically responsible for it's cancellation, than I should be pretty bitter and angry with most Americans, since the Nielson people in the US decides which show I get to watch in its full run.

TPTB can blame their fans, the people who still actually watch it for not handcuffing their friends to the tv when it is on, but not people who gave it a fair chance and decided it wasn't their Stargate anymore.
So if they wanna start throwing the blame around, start with the people closest to you and since TPTB pissed off most of their no longer built-in fanbase it's the emo-youth that has to take the fall here. Chosen deity forbid anyone who actually has any power, has to bear the consequences.

Wasn't that what Stan Lee taught Peter Parker? "With great power comes no responsibility" <i-need-a-sarcasm-sign>

If that didn't make it, mine surely won't!

If that one didn't make it through, mine won't for sure. So here it is! (Note Janice is NOT my real name, actually I hate that name...don't know why I use it as a web pseudonym).
