It’s interesting that they ultimately had to sell it to Amazon because (likely) they knew no one wants CBS AllAccess. As to the trailer.....meh. While it was not as obviously wrong as STD was it still felt off.

Sexually Transmitted Disease and Star Toilet Paper:

Nothing Doomcock said comes as any surprise to me. As long as it is coming from Alex Kurtzman or Bad Robot or Secret Hideout, it will have the stink of what they make on it. The same glitzy, bright/dark shallow writing and visuals, the same vapid tactic of tossing in familiar references into unfamiliar material, the same disregard for the source material and canon. It is going to suck and similar things will be said about it that have been said about Discovery except that Patrick Stewart will be the target of much of it. His Picard character will be forever soiled by this role.

Per Gary at Nerdrotic rumors are starting to build that Kurtzman is out.

Oh goody, I am going to head over there right now! I will post his video here when I watch it. Going right now!

OMG, I hope this is true! As long as Kurtzman can do anything involved with Star Trek, it will stink of Kelvin/Alt-trek. I really hope he has been fired.

It seems to be going as I predicted. Picard probably has lost faith in humanity and faith in himself. Picard's faith in humanity and courage of his own convictions are two of the defining characteristics that he has.

As I thought they seem to be contriving a character arc to create a story. Altering a character is most interesting in prequels IMO because we can see how their experiences shaped them. In sequels its a sham. Why bring Picard back if he's not Picard. What's the point? So he can become Picard again? In other words zero character growth and a season of backpeddling to the Picard of Nemesis most likely. It seems like a waste of time to me.

I probably won't see Star Trek Picard for a long time anyway. I already signed up to Netflix to watch Discovery. I don't fancy shelling out more money for Amazon Prime.
You can always take a free month trial for Amazon Prime, just to check it out. The show is due for release somewhere around the end of the year as I understand it, so if you time it right you could also order Christmas presents through Prime, if that's your sort of thing.

It makes perfect sense to fire Kurtzman from ALL things Star Trek. He and his crew are just not up to the task. They do not have what it takes.

I have Amazon Prime, so I will be able to watch it. But do I want to? Not really. But I will definitely watch the first episode at least. I am EXPECTING it to suck. This is because it will be on the alternate license, and because it will validate in full or in part, the fake events of the Kelvin movies. He won't be Captain Picard, he might not even be Admiral Picard. He might just be Jake Luke Pikarde who will not even feel like our beloved Picard.

This was true when Gary at Nerdrotic announced it. :). This news is just confirmation, and not at all surprising. Alex Kurtzman AND Bad Robot have done so much damage to Star Trek that it may take several years, maybe a decade to fix it. I think CBS should kill Discovery before Season 3 begins production. It is beyond saving. The story of them jumping 900 years into the future is stupid because they will be 900 years behind in everything relative to that future. If they think they can just start over in the future and still center stories around Michael Burnham and not use anything from canon, that is just NEVER going to be Star Trek. There are too many canon Trek elements which could mess with it. Q, The Federation Timeship Relativity and others like it which belong to the Federation of the future, the Traveler, the Guardian of Forever, etc etc. The last episode of Discovery Season 2 could easily serve as a series finale for Discovery. Nobody really wants to see more...do they?

At least their new show runner for Picard has actual science fiction creds....not that I think it will do a lot of good.

I agree. I also think that CBS deciding to announce this before Picard is aired will positively affect it's chances. Many Star Trek fans need only hear that Kurtzman is involved in it to reject it out of hand before ever seeing it.. I have become that way with ANYTHING involving Kurtzman. He is persona non grata to me, and just his name being attached to a project is a fatal flaw.

I do not feel good about this show at all. I will hope for the best, but I am not really excited to see a "psychological" show about an old retired Starfleet Captain who will be "unlike the Picard fans remember", set in the 25% different alternate universe.
