You prompted me to start a Sanctuary Marathon for season 2!

I am now starting my Sanctuary season 2 Marathon. I havent seen any of the episodes, so it should be a real treat! I see Ashley is "back", but she is not the same? Ill edit this after watching a few episodes. One thing, I love this show's effects and the music track. It actually GOES WITH THE SHOW. This show makes SGU look like a funeral in space.

Im at Episode 3 "Eulogy". The episode surrounds the search for Ashley who is possibly alive (?), and the search for a baby "Steno". The new girl Kate Freelander reminds me of the girl in Star Trek the Search for Spock at the Observatory. Cocky, streetwise, wisecracker. I dont really get her yet. But Im enjoying the show still! :beckettu:

At Episode 5 now, just finished watching "Hero". Humor, action, camaraderie, compassion...as if the essential "feel" of Stargate has been transferred to Sanctuary. Its really noticeable how the music and sound effects add so much to this series. The CGI effects are less noticeable as CGI in season 2. This means they are taking more time and perfecting their methods. This show is awesome! Also quite irritating is the fact that in very light (but always visible) area in the lower right corner of the screen says "All New Stargate Universe, Fridays 9:00pm PST on Syfy" :mad:.

I'm not really a fan of the Kate character, she's way over the top. Also she annoys the crap out of me from time to time.

It is rather annoying indeed. I hope you're not going to get indoctrinated by it and start watching SciFi at 9PM on friday night. Since they have now switched the show to a tuesday airing.

Yeah, she played on a episode of SGA. Don't find her interesting. Just a homeless kid with skills way beyond her age level.

I hope I don't need to see the finale to get the new season. I got so bored about an hour into the finale and gave up on finishing the episode. I notice there's new women for season 3, I hope they're well written. Something about this show, maybe it's just Amanda, but none of the other women come off as well written.

Hahaha. I feel better already! I am just getting ready to watch the season 2 finale (Kali Pt 1 & 2). I really love this series! In the first season, I was acutely aware of the CGI sets and effects because they werent that well done. But season 2 is done so well I cant always tell what is CGI and what is not. Kate Freelander annoys the hell out of me. She is attractive, but her character's personality comes off as bitchy and a bit too streetwise for my taste. She is trying to be "cool" and strong, but it comes off annoying for some reason. I liked Ashley better. And Nikola is so funny...I love his one liners and his humor delivery. I was pleasantly surprised to see Michael Shanks in Sanctuary!

Kate is definitely the albatross hanging around the cast's neck

She's the one thing that sticks out like a sore thumb to me. I could probably stand more of her if she was just a recurring character. I hate when the flow of dialogue is interrupted with constant snark. She is as annoying as Claudia is on Warehouse 13. I hate those no-it-all, I'm so cool and hip it kills me characters. Here's hoping that some abnormal drives her crazy and sends her to a sanitarium for half the season...

I hope they find a way to bring Ashley back because I was really enjoying the relationship between her, Druid and her mother. Not to mention that she could kick a little ass!!!

Here's hoping that some abnormal drives her crazy and sends her to a sanitarium for half the season...

I just finished Kali Pt 1 and Pt2 (season 2 cliffhanger). What a great episode!

I miss Ashley in this episode. And the whole Indian thing with Mumbai and the mythology of the mackrey (sp?) and Big Bertha was very cool. I like the way these abnormals have names and stories behind them. Its cool when they talk about giant sand rays and that "there arent that many left" as if there were MORE of them! Its great. But Kate annoyed me in this episode. And frankly, so did Terrence (Paul McGuillion). What EXACTLY sort of abnormal is he supposed to be with that ridiculous rubber on his face? Is he supposed to be a chameleon or something? I dont care...in Sanctuary, he is a bad Good Guy.

a pissed off Big Bertha, Terrence in charge of the global Sanctuary network, and a huge tidal wave radiating out from the center of the ocean towards all coastal cities?

Im so glad Amanda Tapping found a way into the ranks of TPTB. She will never have to cowtow to the likes of Mallozzi or Wright or any of the Stargate writers. Her show is doing better than Stargate Universe, and is headed for a season 3!

Ouch, Kate is like 10 times worse. She's sadly not jiving with the cast. Something that Magnus's daughter wasn't that much better at either.

Ouch, I don't know what's with all the KF hate. At first, I didn't really like her, but she's kinda okay now. That's my opinion, don't bash me for it. :|

The S2 finale was awesome! Loved the whole Indian aspect to it (no suprise as a lot of the music on the show has that mysterious Hindi tone to it).But Will dancing was really...uhhhh. He should really have taken some more lessons. And the effects were great as usual!

Tidbit from my DVD's

The actress who plays Kate (Agam Darshi) also studied at Julliard, but she had the good taste to just call it college. She got the part on sanctuary 6 days out of school and has been in not just SGA, but SGU as well!! (as Dr Sonja Damji in Air P1)

I like my cheesiness in small slices. Like the abnormal in the Sanctuary that who is actually two people and will talk nicely to Will one minute and then spin around and the "mean" part of him will say something. Those are the perfect bits of cheese/levity that I like in this show.

And meanwhile I don't mind Kate and like Claudia a lot on Warehouse 13. I do agree that Will dancing was embarrassing but overall this show features acting, writing and cameraderie between the cast members that SGU can only dream it had.

I think that ties with the whole Hindu mythology thing, that the goddess Kali is tied to the most powerful Abnormal or something, mentally or otherwise. So maybe she controls the thing or something.

I wouldn't have minded the dancing, if they had left it to the professionals. Especially with the mythology part of it, I would have swallowed it hook line and sinker. But not with that stupid face he made. No way.

I can forgive it because overall the acting is good, the scripts reasonably sound and the cast has good cameraderie.

Apart from Kate, the annoying role of Paul mcGillion and the stupid dancing scene, Sanctuary is an excellent series.
Can't wait for the new season to kick off.
