Ratings II

To be honest, I am not laughing. I am beyond ticked off that SGA was cancelled for this. SGA in it's last 10 eps went up to almost 1.7 Million viewers Live+SD. That is more than 700,000 viewers now comparing the averages of the final 10 to date. Very sad the franchise has to end like this.

Thanks for the comparative numbers to SGA. You're right. This is an insult to SGA fans everywhere if you think about it. And now the cowardly trash who created this whole mess will just slink off into the shadows and try to pretend like they're not to blame. It's sickening really, just sickening.

I have no doubt that SGA would have been doing much better numbers than this had it been allowed another season or two at least. I still can't believe they let a proven ratings success go in favor of an unproven show like this.

I just wish that some people understood that this is the very reason some people were terrified of SGU. Stargate as a salable product is all but shot, no movies, no series, no nothing, but of course they can comfort themselves with the notion it was all the "haters" fault

oh, and the wrestling
and the night
and the time change
and that it was just too smart and complex
and the competition
and the antiquated ratings system
and Syfy
and the NBA
and an election night coverage
and the phases of the moon
and the alignment of saturn in Opposition with Mars
And great Cthulhu farting in the depths of R'lyeh
And those angry atlantis fans
and little Jimmy who skinned his knee so we had to take him to the hospital that night
and....
and....
and....
And those millions, and millions of fans who downloaded it illegally

Fan excuse bingo, get your first prediction here, get em while thier hot!!

In all fairness, there has been some horrible disasters happening in the world the last couple of weeks. I also feel, as a fan of all three shows. I have been battling for the right to be such for five months now, it is getting alittle tiresome to fight. I am watching the show, but I can understand how some have given up the losing battle and let it go. It is not just the end of SGU , it is the end of SG.

Yep, and that's why it's so annoying :(

I disagree, with the end of Universe ends the soapy version and lets the start of proper Stargate we all know and love. Proper Stargate has a great profitable track record and tptb at syfy know this.

I agree with this. Its only the end of Brad Wright's Stargate franchise, not the end of Stargate. In a way I am very glad that Brad is being shoved out, because he obviously wont leave on his own. I think we will have to wait a few years, but Stargate WILL return, and any new writers will remember the hard lesson of SGU: DONT ignore your fanbase.

As of fan of all three, I wish you were right. Bring back any SG. I would watch it. The fan divide on this franchise is so bad. Nobody is going to take a chance on it anytime soon, especially in the middle of these economic crisis.

Sure, both you and backstep are right, It's the knowledge of seeing it happen some year plus prior to the event that truly saddens me. What I do worry about however, is that even though stargate in the SG1/SGA format never truly failed, SGU did, and how. People tend to have short memories for such things and it does concern me that the only thing people "in the industry" will remember is the total commercial failure of SGU and not the 12 years and 15 seasons that came bofore it :(

This was a theory to why SGU did not make it. It was running during a time of a bad economy and whatnot. People are hurting, they want to turn to TV to be entertained not become more depressed.

For KEK nothing besides his own little reality IS reality *shakes head*. DVD sales are also low, no matter what KEK believes or not.
I am really curious about BW and his future. After all what was said and done I would think about giving him a job twice. No, no movie, not with this numbers.

I was being sarcastic about KEK. FYI :P How he can say TV viewers have nothing to do with DVD sales is absurd. They feed off eachother. MGM is going to see these numbers are tanking. Why would they invest into a movie? SG-1 and SGA BOTH went up in their final 10 eps because people were still into that show and wanted to see how it ended.

People want to know why shows like Sanctuary, W13, and Eureka are doing better. They all have comic relief even when the episode before was dark. They also don't take themselves too serious all the time, and it is just good fun. Heck, even as dark as BSG was there were plenty eps that were just very entertaining and you were rooting for the good guys to prevail.

Oh and Thanks for the Green! :)

Yes , I agree. This show was put on too fast, it was not ready. And alot more humor like last weeks ep would have helped alot.

Maybe a break is due, abstinent makes the heart grow fonder, either that or ptb will wait till all the showrunners wonder off or find new projects. Brad and his team have stated they were tired of writing SG and wanted to do Universe, give it some time then syfy can bring in a fresh new team.

I don't think the entire team was tired. Joe M, Paul M and even RCC are moving onto a series that is more action, faster paced, and filled with comic relief.......................pretty much what SGA and SG-1 were, lol.

Star Trek has been off the air for almost six years now. Yes , we have movies now, but we have to wait years in between them. They are a enormous franchise and did not end with a huge fan divide. How much better do you think Stargate will fair?

I think a SG-1 movie is still possible. I am hoping Jason Momoa's Conan role will drum up some popularity for his past work, which one of the major works he was in was hence SGA. If MGM even considers a SGU movie, they have not learned from their last bankruptcy. Like I said on other forums, I would not put it past them to even do a SG-1 movie over a SGA one.

As per a TV series? Likely years down the road, and possibly with a new production team.
