Huh, I thought there already was a thread for David...
Anyway, here is a link to his blog:
http://www.david-blue.com/Blue/Blog/Entries/2011/4/6_McKay_McRib_-_Limited_Time_Only.html

He talks about the cancellation, working on SGU, ratings, illegal downloads, etc.

Cute how he tries to alleviate some of the pressure off of the producers. I love this line, it's so flawed in its logic that it's almost a work of art:

I only mention this one to alleviate some pressure off the producers (or as some of you say “The Powers That Be”.) They had nothing to do with us not getting renewed. If they had their way, we’d be slotted for 5 seasons at least.

Call me crazy but I think that producing a horribly flawed, crappy product was the sole reason that SGU wasn't renewed. This comes before ratings or any other executive decision on airing the show. These guys produced this cinematic abortion hence they are the reason it wasn't renewed. Everything else follows from this premise, it's axiomatic. Again, it's an irreducible primary, the blame rests solely with TPTB and no one else.

I dont have FB so cant respond. I would like to know what he thinks of some sgu fans calling fans who didnt watch sgu traitors (see gw)

Warning: not in a very good mood

Excuse Me Mr Blue, I'm sorry but just like the the cartoon character, you need to find a goddamned clue. NO-ONE actively campaigned against the Stargate "franchise", They campaigned (if anything) against what they saw was happening to the "franchise" as you mooks like to call it. Even before SGU began it had it's detractors, but your buddies (and yes, they are your buddies now) had thier "plan" and no matter what, they were determined to see it through.

As a result, the shows YOU were previously a fan of are now dead, and as a FAN of these shows, quite frankly YOU are the disgrace. Amongst all the actors in SGU, YOU were the most qualified to pull the writers and directors up and say "hang on, thats not right" and in interviews you have stated that you have and it annoyed the writers, and you did it with a smile. When push came to shove however, all your platitudes were for naught, as week after week we saw SGU drift further and further away from its roots. Perhaps the fans of stargate understand "fandom" a little more than you think.

Not understand how the industry works? Seriously, are you joking? The "industry" works like any other industry, via results. You may have been a part of "the most monumental body of work in human history", but if no one knows or cares about it, you might as well have been pissing up against a wall. As a side note, if you think people don't understand that sometimes business can work on a "wink and a handshake" as well, then you are doing a disservice to Science Fiction fans.

As to "common sense", dear god, I thought my head was already ready to explode. I just don't know what to say to that. Common sense dictates that when you are dealing with a successful "franchise", people like what it is and how it is portrayed (otherwise it would not be popular at all). L&O spin-offs are not popular because they diverged from there roots in a new series, nor is CSI, They are popular because people either like the format or like the characters. SGU forgot this basic trueism, and to blame the "fans", pro or anti for any of this is no more than passing the buck, but then again, you learned from some of the best in SGU.

Perhaps it's not the fans, Pro or anti, that need "education" due to thier "ignorance", but the people who forgot those who brought them to the table in the first place.

I have NO idea what he's talking about... Maybe about some people bashing SGA and SGA fans hoping that will get them a reboot of Atlantis? Or perhaps something went on behind the scenes of "Ugly Betty" we're not aware of? :vala-newanime026:

But I never saw any "campaign against a TV show", so I wouldn't be able to tell for sure.

Gatefan1976, I'd give you more green if I could. Perfect response to an incredibly pathetic and bizarre lashing out by Mr. Blue.

This one post of his has now, officially, made me lose any respect or appreciation I had for him as an actor. What is the point of lashing out at this late date? It can't benefit anyone, especially him. What a fool, a stupid, stupid fool!

I know im trying realy hard to bite my tongue. Tell me do you see RL, RDA,AT,DH,JM,JF,DN,JS making comments like that? understand fandom? i think hes got that assed backwards. My respect for the actors is based on how they conduct themselves in interviews and online. his most recent blog post is just as bad and can be read from the link above.

To get along with his groupies? To be 'cool' at the SGU cast and crew reunion table?

Yes but that's insanely short sighted. Pats on the back from a group of people that literally have no power to employ him as an actor won't pay his rent or put food in his already distended stomach. It literally makes no sense to come out swinging at this point in time. SGU is dead, gone, fini so DB has nothing to gain from alienating even more people from his personal fan sphere.

Seriously, I didn't hate the guy and had no problem watching anything he would be in in the future, but now I'm not at all interested in watching his fake ass play yet another lovable, misunderstood, pathetic, love-starved geek.

Perhaps Dummy Blue should heed his own advice:"Educate yourselves. Ignorance has no excuse."

I'm not a Facebook person at all. Is it possible for someone who does use Facebook to comment on his "wall" or do comment go thru moderation there?

If anyone can respond to DB's ignorant comments right at the source (Facebook) that would be great! Please try to get a screenshot if you do so and post it here.

Thanks!

It just gets better and better

Here's one of the comments in response to DB's dumb ass statement. I have bolded, underlined and enlarged the relevant part of the comment:

Roberto San Martin Agreed. The same thing happened with Star Trek Enterprise... It's so sad when people doesn't realize how destructive their conduct can be. SGU was an amazing show.

How destructive what conduct can be? Not watching a TV show??? Any sort of "anti" campaign against SGU was, by its nature, passive. At no point did anyone's conduct rise to the level of physically preventing anyone else from watching SGU. Also, there was zero censorship or disinformation disseminated from this or any other "anti-SGU" site. In fact, SGU was analyzed to death! The air dates were promoted in countless threads. Any mention on the Web of SGU, pro or con, was highlighted and brought to the fore for discussion everyday of every week since the inception of the show.

How is this "conduct" destructive? In order to label it with that moniker then that means that it would have been better had no attention been paid to SGU at all, which means this "Roberto" person wanted to sneak something dubious by everyone. Think about it, he's upset because SGU was examined and questioned and not just blindly accepted by the masses. It's this type of mindset that has literally toppled nations.

Seig heil "Roberto", seig heil! :tealc_new050:

Okay, I am a fan of SGU, but I am now no longer a fan of David Blue, or should we call him David Buttkisser. I guess, he wants to make sure he gets another job by being loyal to TPTB. Which by the way, when I say TPTB, I do not always mean the Producers. It is intended to be a generalized title for any twit in control that could have made a difference. And as someone with some common sense, I think common sense would have told Mr. Buttkisser to lose a few pounds, since he was supposed to be stranded on a ship with limited food supplies.Because in this day of age, I would be willing to bet those same PTB are not allowed to ask for him to do that. Alot of fans of SG , like GF and myself have actually been fighting for the franchise and against the fan divide. But I guess we don't count.

Exactly!
Not watching THEIR show is unacceptable and destructive conduct. Which I bet they themselves then are engaging much more frequently in than any of the regular TV fans they're moaning about. :icon_lol:
Hey David Blue, you hate campaigner, which shows are YOU not watching?! Hmm???

He is in fact, continuing to push along the fan divide. Leave the fans alone David. Let the wounds heal. Everytime somebody blames the fans, it incites the fan divide. So, he is for all intents and purposes doing exactly what he is telling everyone else not to do. He is hurting the franchise.

I am not saying that I have not ever acted stupidly. LOL. But you a are better man than I , because I am sure he is making much more money than any of us and that is one of the main reasons behind his comments. To protect his ability to get another job. Keep the bosses happy at the fans expense.
