Warning: not in a very good mood
Excuse Me Mr Blue, I'm sorry but just like the the cartoon character, you need to find a goddamned clue. NO-ONE actively campaigned against the Stargate "franchise", They campaigned (if anything) against what they saw was happening to the "franchise" as you mooks like to call it. Even before SGU began it had it's detractors, but your buddies (and yes, they are your buddies now) had thier "plan" and no matter what, they were determined to see it through.
As a result, the shows YOU were previously a fan of are now dead, and as a FAN of these shows, quite frankly YOU are the disgrace. Amongst all the actors in SGU, YOU were the most qualified to pull the writers and directors up and say "hang on, thats not right" and in interviews you have stated that you have and it annoyed the writers, and you did it with a smile. When push came to shove however, all your platitudes were for naught, as week after week we saw SGU drift further and further away from its roots. Perhaps the fans of stargate understand "fandom" a little more than you think.
Not understand how the industry works? Seriously, are you joking? The "industry" works like any other industry, via results. You may have been a part of "the most monumental body of work in human history", but if no one knows or cares about it, you might as well have been pissing up against a wall. As a side note, if you think people don't understand that sometimes business can work on a "wink and a handshake" as well, then you are doing a disservice to Science Fiction fans.
As to "common sense", dear god, I thought my head was already ready to explode. I just don't know what to say to that. Common sense dictates that when you are dealing with a successful "franchise", people like what it is and how it is portrayed (otherwise it would not be popular at all). L&O spin-offs are not popular because they diverged from there roots in a new series, nor is CSI, They are popular because people either like the format or like the characters. SGU forgot this basic trueism, and to blame the "fans", pro or anti for any of this is no more than passing the buck, but then again, you learned from some of the best in SGU.
Perhaps it's not the fans, Pro or anti, that need "education" due to thier "ignorance", but the people who forgot those who brought them to the table in the first place.
