Continuum

I'm still watching Lost Girl but haven't gotten hooked on Being Human yet. I hear you need to watch the BBC version first. :P

Not sure where Continuum is going to go but I think it started off well - I wish I wasn't a whole season behind.

Catch up! This show is just too awesome to miss that much of it. Download it, cue it up in Netflix, whatever...it is a MUST SEE. It is done the way Stargate and Atlantis was done except with better writing and a more solid premise. The smallish cast is VERY well developed for each character. Many of the faces are familiar, and the effects are very cool without being over the top at all. Just an excellent show. I am really hoping that Syfy does not mess it up.

Ok, uh yeah, but I was asking "cast questions" as in "where have i seen these actors before? I know Brian Markinson and his being in CAPRICA and Blood and Chrome.

and dude-carlos is a dude :D I was referring to the rather quirky looking woman in the cop shop-she either is the Police chief's secretary or a detective. When the report of the 2 cops being down and the bank robbing going on-she comes into the chiefs office. I have seen her before in another show. I was thinking she was Lexa Doig, but its not her. I have definately seen her before.

Lexa has a regular part in this show. :) The secretary is some redshirt who has no name or part in the show as far as I know. Wait...you mean the geek girl? She played Park in SGU. She is a geek in the past timeline, but Kiera is always outsmarting her, and sometimes Alex outsmarts her or throws her off as well.

the "nerd" kid I previously saw acting in JERICHO (found it after i posted). I got it about him being an "important future guy" from like when he said to the chic future cop (this is proprietary frequency..blah,blah) figured then he was going to be someone who is big in the future.

He is HUGE in the future. :)

and whats with his step dad? "he's not ready yet (of Alex)" what are they up to?

Well....
No cheating! :nono: Watch the show! :P

I know from BSG/CAPRICA/JERICHO AND SG shows that Vancouver has a frequently well used "talent pool"-hence my calling it "incestuous". I am sure if we looked closer we would see that some cast members may very well have played small parts in other shows --like a Jaffa who gets shot or someone on the Galactica who dies or some other non essential "red shirt" character.
There are a lot of familiar faces in this show. Among them, appearances are made by Mike Dopud, Michael Shanks, the guy that plays O'Brien on TNG, others.

So from what i take-the corporate congress are the supposed good guys and our boys in jumpsuit orange are the bad guys? Yeah they whacked thousands of people but what are their motivations really?

I am guessing that we are eventually going to see Carlos, Keira and the kid team up with the more 'normal' terrorists and sing kumbayah and forge a brighter tomorrow. :D

And how can they follow this with that pond swill being human and lost girl? Seriously, I'd rather they showed reruns of trek, galactica or a SG show (I would really really rather watch sgu then ghosties, vampires, werewolves and fairies (or whatever))

Yes and no. The future is run by the Corporate Congress and there is no secular/elected government. This is the entity that Kiera is protecting. Alex is a big influence in that Corporate Congress, and the people in the jumpsuits are resisters to the corporate control of the globe in the future. Good and bad is relative. Im hoping they will develop that aspect of this show this next season.

i dont think there is any nned to "catch up" as season 1 ep 1 aired tonight.

and yes, if there is a way, syfy will screw it up.... a show like this should be in a bloc of shows like "sci fi fridays" where all the shows were usually of the same genre or very near. pairing it with 2 paranormal shows is stupid. At least they are not the lead ins and continuum is on first.

and, now that you say it, i believe that secretary chic is park from sgu. makes sense, i know the actress is another consonant articulator

This show is VERY episodic. You need to see every episode to follow the who and the why of the story. :) I was hooked from the premiere onwards. I cant think of any of the episodes which were bad.

I just caught the first episode on SyFy tonight and I can't believe that they didn't manage to pick this show up from day one. They should have green lit it just from the cast list alone. :)

I've been trying to figure out what show to best compare this one to but it is just too unique. It's not what I expected but maybe I just didn't know what to expect. I'm glad to hear that they kept up the momentum through season 1.

And really, I don't know why anyone would want to destroy the "Corporate Congress" but that is just me. :P

I watched the first episode and it's on my much watch list now. The part that's entreating is the people fighting to bring back freedom and democracy are the villains, while the protector of the fascist corporations corporate congress is the hero. Be the same as a backwards Terminator movie, where you're rooting for the Terminator to kill Connor.

Something like this?

This is one of the few new shows i looked forward to each week, so no spoilers will be given from me. Enjoy the ride.

I've really only lightly browsed this thread enough to know that I wanted to see this show. I'm in spoiler free mode as always. ;)

I know when not to read. And there are always spoiler tags for the important stuff. ;)

I sort of thought tonight might let me down but the show rocked from start to finish. I'm in for episode 2. :)

ok-premiere night for some of us who do not properly articulate are consonants or elongate our "ou" sounds (canadian that is) and not so techie astute.

couple cast questions:

some of the people are obvious: Brian Markinson for example. Who is the nerd kid (the actor) what show or movie was he in? And who is the cop/secretary in the police station? the one who is either Native American or Eurasian (is it Lexa Doig)?

Vancouver seems to be quite the hot bed of "incestuous" actors

Yeah. Mike Dopud was recycled into 3 different characters on the Stargate series and Garwin Sanford, who was actually a very developed and well known character in SG1 was recycled as Dr Weir's husband in Atlantis. :S

You will still say that after watching the entire first season. :)

I agree. I can't remember the show having a filler episode the whole season.

They way they developed the characters in this show is so cool. The writing, the premise, it feels like "home" and I cant put my finger on it. It made me feel the same watching satisfaction I used to get from Trek or Stargate SG-1 or Atlantis but even more so. Totally hooked. Perhaps we should do a ratings thread on this?

Its been awhile sence we did a ratings, good idea. Is Continuum playing on syfy world wide or just syfy America?

Good question. I was watching Season 1 when it was on its first run in Canada. I purchased a VPN service just to watch that show.

Saw the premiere.

Not too bad. Things were developed properly and we're given enough information to follow the story without overloading us. Acting is pretty good too. I do get a strange feeling that we'll find out that this whole thing is a giant predestination paradox (a la "Time's Arrow) which would be pretty cool as I don't think a TV show ever had a whole season develop that way.

dont you mean SERIALIZED?

Yes, I guess that is a better word....serialized. The episodes need to be seen to follow the story. Cant skip any!

Doesn't episodic imply that episodes are self contained and can be played in any order vs serialized where episodes need to be played in a particular order?
