@jenthefangirl 140 characters ain't gonna cut it - gotta go long form here. I find myself wondering if you are of the same group of folk who start fires and then complain about the smoke. Do you think that comment will change the course of the series? Do you HONESTLY believe that this show will go back to the format and tone of the previous shows, thanks to the simple logic of two tweets? I don't think you do because you strike me as an intelligent gal, and someone I'd probably quite like in the real world. I would be willing to simply dismiss and ignore you if I thought you were insane, and trust me I've run across some crazies out there. I don't think you're one of them. Which leads me to ask: why on earth would you waste your time with this kind of thinly veiled provocation when you know it isn't going to accomplish anything but more negativity, more aggression, more hurt feelings? You can voice your opinion anywhere you want, but why do it here unless you want to start a fire? I'm seriously trying to understand why after two years you think that comment is relevant - I have a sneaky suspicion that the comment wasn't about relevance. The subtext was full of snark, pure and simple.

This twitter account was set up in the spirit of celebration - it's a place where folks can drop by and get to know me a bit and can follow the progress of a show they've taken an active interest in. They can get a sense of what an actor's life is like. I love interacting with the fans and even sharing pics of my dog. It's a place to have fun and be positive. I respectfully ask you to not take advantage of our willingness and eagerness to interact with our fans by elbowing in and being just plain rude. Please don't lurk in the shadows and wait for an opportunity to turn our enthusiasm against us. It's such a rotten thing to do, and I'm struggling to understand why you think it's perfectly fine. If you need a good example of why this fanbase is so divided and full of animosity, just refer to your comment. I didn't do anything or say anything to provoke you - I was sharing something that I was excited about and you turned it into an opportunity to snark a show that I care deeply about AND the fans who care deeply about it as well. It doesn't have to be this way. Don't show up at a party full of people you dislike and then proceed to insult them and the things they enjoy without expecting a reaction, especially when the party's been going on for two years.

"No offense but it just ain't Stargate"? Honey, there's no way to politely spit in someone's face. There are many people who may agree with you - and there are some people, particularly people who have sought me out on twitter, who are loyal fans of all three shows and don't have a problem reconciling it like you do. It's like showing up at a Cowboy's tail gate party, grabbing some beer and chowder and then telling everyone around you that their team isn't a football franchise. You're lucky this isn't a tailgate party - I'm a Cowboy's fan and we'd do a lot more than just tell you to get lost.

Please forgive me for being so wordy, but it HAD to be said. I've actually enjoyed writing this, believe it or not. I don't know if it'll do any good, but it's time for all of us to leave each other alone and stop these preemptive assaults on shows we don't like or don't watch, for crying out loud. It's a friggen TV show - let's enjoy it while it lasts and show a little compassion for each other. The end.

I think he handled that quite well. Im not sure what caused the tweeter to send that tweet to BJS but he has the right to ask them politley to not do that.

I think hes begining to catch on about what he and the rest of the actors ptb say. this reply i have no problem with (even the ickle dig at haters) if he had gone down previous "retard" routes then no.

Did anyone notice that he says near the end, lets enjoy it while it lasts. He knows SGU is on its way out.

Oh what a bunch of bull. Smith has been a little troll to anyone who doesn't worship him and sgu. His twitter account is 'positive' all right, positively dead once sgu gets canned.

Bah, these actor douchebags only have a week or two of work left anyway.

I'm honestly surprised at how well he handled that longer response. If he leaves it at that, I'd say he's maturing a bit, fandom wise.
As someone on another site pointed out, people might hate it if a bitter fan went to Joe F's or David H's twitters and started in on their shows.
Let's see what his mom does with it however, might be another story, LOL.

If I was him I'd tell my mum to be quiet. Seriously I wouldn't want mine commenting on things like that.

As I'm not a heartless bastard, I do feel kinda somewhat bad for him.

IMO, he really shouldn't let these tweets get to him, hell IMO he really should ignore them, retreat when it's the best logical course of action. Though with the current SGU situation, it's probably best that BJS deactivate his twitter account. The more he gets baited in, the more entwined he gets and will trip up and say something he can't take back and could this anger towards a section of fandom affect any future jobs he's to get, if producers see he doesn't cope well with criticisms, it's not good.

All this anger he is feeling, will only lead to exhaustion and depression and health-wise it's not worth it.

I know his mother and himself are not popular here but compassion-wise he's only defending his job like a banker, I wish he would be the bigger man you know, and step back and evaluate the situation. What does he have to gain to let these tweets get to him?

well i also do feel kinda sorry for him.
you know... he is a young actor and had no experience with fanbases like that.
and let's assume that he is a bit intimidated by the success of tptb.

so what happens---> he gets thrown into the wasps nest by tptb because they want to beat their new baby through anything that stands in the way.

just do the math. if i would be him and i would lack the experience with the fandom, the franchise and with tptb.... who knows. maybe i would look as retarded as he did up to now.

let him finish this job in peace. then... lets bash tptb down till kingdom come...

It was a good reply until the Cowboy Tailgate Party analogy; "We'd do a lot more than just tell you to get lost" is NOT the brightest thing to say in response to a couple of mildly annoying tweets. He should have learned by now to ignore comments like these.

Well hopefully he will by the end of SGU, and takes that knowledge with him to his next acting job. These are important life lessons and one day, years from now he'll say - "Oh my first major breakthrough role was a bitch, but it taught me a lot about dealing with fans and I'm grateful for that."

Couple points:

#1. What the hell is "chowder" that people are eating at Cowboys tailgate parties? I've been to tons of tailgate parties and have never once eaten, let alone seen, a bowl of "chowder".

#2.

You're lucky this isn't a tailgate party - I'm a Cowboy's fan and we'd do a lot more than just tell you to get lost.

Threatening violence -- towards a woman no less. Classy BJS, very classy.

His whole extended "tweet" was carefully worded this time around to make it look like he is a reasonable fellow and just wants everyone to love each other, but his veiled "we'd kick your ass" comment shows the rest of the post to be disingenuous.

BJS is still very much a little boy. He is clearly still very immature and unprofessional when it comes to his public persona. Hopefully he will learn from this experience and become a better, more likable person in the long run.

It is twitter and he is an actor on a TV series. What is he expecting? He shouldn't have a non private twitter account, if he doesn't want to read negative things. He is using twitter as a promotion tool for himself and his work as an actor. That people comment on what he is promoting in all kinds of ways is natural. You can't promote a product (in this case SGU) as a famous person and expect only agreement.

And I also wonder, why he is reacting again and again to tweets he doesn't like. It would be much more clever of him, to ignore those tweets. At least this time he didn't go on a "troll hunt" like at the time someone mentioned, that Joe Flanigan has more followers than him. All in all he is an actor. He is a public person. People like him, Mallozzi and Wright should have learned by now, how best to react in the public.

Spot on! :beckettu:

It amazes me that this boy can live in a bubble where no criticism is allowed. It's always funny to watch someone come along and pop that bubble though.

I don't know the context for the tweets that prompted his response, but since he does have a public Twitter account, he shouldn't be surprised to get them. On the other hand, why would someone go out of her way to take a jab at a particular actor..? My beef is with TPTB, not the actors & crew of SGU. Let them enjoy it while it lasts. Mh, BJS is one of my problems with SGU because of the lousy interviews he gave in the past. I can live with actors acting childish but his answers were insulting every single SciFi-fan all around the world. So, I can understand what was about this tweets. He still is a pain in the arse for many fans.

I bet he pursed his lips as he wrote that...and nodded too

Threats of violence eh ? must make him feel important. He wouldn't even look hard if he had viagra in his eyes.
What threat of violins?

Someone trying to orchestrate something again?

there is a certain level of respect a parent must show to their child when said child passes 18. your child is an adult and as a parent there must be trust that the child can handle situations and ask for a parent's help when needed. or a parent can offer help...but they must leave it up to the child. speaking as a parent of a 28 year old daughter here. that is a level of respect I have not seen malibunextyear show towards BJS...he needs to get off the tit now!

we always eat chili (Go Purdue!)...maybe he thinks it's a clambake or something. yep you said it...he shows his class and maturity level so strongly here. you can take some people out of the trailer park but you can't take the trailer park out of them! that kid is obviously trailer-trash as it is known around here. :jackanime14:
