It has a name: Star Trek: Into Darkness.

i also read that its that living rock thingy from TOS that shapeshifts between Khan and the other dude with random appearances as a klingon and a romulan. they say it lives in the "red world" we see in the trailer...apparently the whole film takes place on one set with the rest of the scenes being flash backs and flash forwards of kirk's life. In the end he is placed on a lonely island on a rogue planet where he awaits his only escape--a "ribbon" of trans-dimensional powers. He hopes that buy lighting large quantities of liquid methane he will be able to move the planet into the ribbon's path... he is then stopped by Admiral Nog of the United Federation of Ferengi Planets who enslaves Kirk and makes him his mute slave.

i read it on the internet..they can't put anything that's not true on the internet

I just want to meet nu-Wesley Crusher (I'm sure they can have him time travel from the future). Maybe Tom Cruise will make a surprise cameo to take on that role? :P

Trekweb and trekmovie both. But the Khan thing keeps floating around for some reason.

How do they fit this April guy in as the first Enterprise captain? Is it just in this "abrams universe"? Per canon, we all know that Archer was the first Captain of Enterprise.

No, dude. The first captain of the NCC-1701 (Kirk's Enterprise), not the NX-01 (Archer's Enterprise). Different generations.

ok, but all the article said was "starship enterprise" no reference to NX or NCC class

and he is only mentioned in TAS, this cartoon is said by Roddenberry to be non canon and that nothing put forth in it should be used for reference in future productions. basically Roddenberry just wanted it forgotten.

But then, this is all based on whether or not this article is correct and April is the bad guy. (Even if he is, there is nothing in TAS showing he had evil intentions)

They're a little over 100 years apart. If the dude was captain of the NX-01, they would have cast Kirk Douglas to play the nemesis or maybe dug up some other 100+ year old dead actor, strung him up on puppet wire and cast him.

Is there a way to upload a swf file here so it shows in a post or no? Benedict Cumberbatch has a pretty villainous voice. Hope he gets more roles but keeps doing Sherlock.

I can do that for you, you want to embed it? I think you should upload it to YouTube and use the code from there in case there are copyright issues. Takes the onus off you. :)

Actually, the existance of April is one of the only things Roddenberry *did* accept as canon from TAS.

The only truly encouraging thing I saw from some teaser video is that the hot rod Enterprise from 2009 with the doodads and unnecessary adornment and incongruous design elements is going to be destroyed. OMG, if they deviate with the next design and make it too far out of line with what has been seen in Trek, this new franchise will lose its largest fanbase.

Wait 'til you see Abrams's Millennium Falcon.

Why do new producers think they can take artistic license with iconic ships like the Millenium Falcon or the Enterprise? Dont tbhey know that some enthusiastic fans actually pay attention to details and get upset when those details are changed? In the original series, fans caught scenes where the Enterprise would be flying in from the right or left and the window patterns on the saucer section would give it away if they simply flipped the images in reverse to give the illusion that the ship was moving in one direction or the other. They had to then make sure they turned the ship and filmed it ACTUALLY going the other direction. :) The sliders on the transporter panel had to be slid down when beaming down and up when beaming up. That was missed too. In TNG, more than a few fans knew the difference between a medical tricorder and a standard one.

Having said that, why would the Starfleet ship builders design swoopy curved lighted "sport lines" on the Enterprise, and have curved nacelle pylons? I will be glad to see it go. It was like seeing spoilers on an aircraft carrier to me.
