So..Europeans, let us know if the movie's good or not in a non-spoilerish way, then spoiler the rest. Also, I hate Voyager so much.

OHHHH, In that case.................... Spock ****'s a **** while ****ing Kirk, then they find out that ********* is really ******* because of the *******-line. Sulu is really a ****** as well !!. If that's not bad enough, Dr ********* is secretly ****** ****** but because of ******** it get put back to a minor plot point. The dude from Sherlock is actually ************ but not in the way you might think because the ************ did ***** to the ********* so it's all a bit messed up.

:D :D :D

Seriously however, I have not seen it, but every report I have heard or read gives it pretty glowing reviews.

I'll schedule the parade and prepare your press release.

Don't you think that's overkill? I mean, hell, the most I was gonna do was shave my vagina. :apthy:

Ok so I saw the movie and its time for my reaction (without spoilers!)

Just like the first one it was good as an action adventure style, keeping with the 'skin' of Star Trek.

While not as stupid plot wise as the first, it did the moments where I went;

"Hmm foreshadowing?"
"Oh I totally called that"
"Oh thats convenient"
"Oh thats convenient again!"
"Oh dear lord I can't believe they went with that...seriously that was just embarrassing."

As a movie it is fine, serviceable, but as Star Trek oh it is certainly not I'm sorry. And for the love of Christ on a pogo stick stop with that lens flare!

See it in 3D? Should I spend the money to see this in the theater, or wait until a couple of weeks when a good copy is "available"? The bolded was completely expected. This is never gonna be "our" Trek. This is a newer, simpler, dumber Trek for the newbies. Too bad they had to use our characters and aliens, but this is definitely not a Trekker's trek coming from Abrams, Orci, et al.

No I did not see it in 3D, I've yet to actually see a movie in the latest 3D but I kind of like my money sooo. Also I swear there was an Alien in there that looked like that Admiral Ackbar. I know JJ Abrams is directing the next Star Wars movie, but seriously stop using Star Trek as a test platform >.<

It is Trek-in name only-made for DEFIANCE and SGU fans! Of course I am guessing on that-but with a fair amount of certitude.

There I said it! :icon10: :welcoming: :anim_35:

This is playing at 12:01 tonight at AMC Rolling Hills (I reviewed Prometheus from this same theater). I think Im gonna do this :) I don't want to hate it before I see it on the big screen.

LMAO...I just called them to find out the ticket situation, (and this is the first night they are showing it), and they have sold only 15 tickets for the 2D version and 7 for the 3D version. :anim_59:. In contrast, the midnight premiere showing of Harry Potter and the HBP sold out by 8PM. The 3D ticket is $20.00! So, if you could choose and the money was not the issue, which would you go for...the 2D or 3D? I think it might be cool to see the Enterprise GT crash in 3D. :)

Yes, but the midnight showing pre-Friday premiere is quiet and usually only adults. :) Nothing worse than chattering kids and/or teens who refuse to shut their cellphones off. Normally, I would buy the ticket from Fandango and it would cost a bit more but would be ready when I got there. This time I was told "not to worry" by the ticket agent. :happy0007:

Take your pick OM.

As of this point the Rotten Tomatoes on it is 89% Fresh which is pretty high. IMDB is 8.4/10. Of course both are just aggregations of opinions.

TrekMovie.com has a pretty detailed and mostly non-spoilerish review that gives it high marks. They especially liked the performances and the story both having real character development and social commentary. So we'll see in a day I guess.

Should I go tonight?

Not going. :) Ill wait until tomorrow afternoon...before the kiddies can get off, like Backstep recommended. The prices are significantly lower, but the biggest advantage is the daylight left. Right now, it would be getting home after 1:30am.

If I can catch it next week I'll do it for a matinee. That's the way to go. School is still in session so there will be no annoying kids, plus the ticket price is cheaper. Win/win. ;)
