Which show had the best looking Stargate?

I voted for SG-1 although I think the gate in the original stargate movie looked better.

I thought the Atlantis gate looked kind of cheap with the lite-blue christmas lights that made the symbols on the gate....if they had done that better then the Atlantis gate would be my favorite.

There are some good things about the SGU gate and some bad things. I like how the chevrons light up...I think that is well done. I just don't like how its black...I think they should of gone with more of a metallic color.

SG-1 hands down!

Milky Way gate all the way for me. Now that is a quality stargate. The Pegasus gate looks cool, but it kinda reminds me of modern electrical goods that sacrifice ruggedness, robustness and functionality in favour of looks and break way too easy. The Milky Way gate also has the added feature of being able to be manually dialled. The SGU gate....well....it isn't really a stargate, it's more a glorified landing device. And it looks like a daisy or something.

I think the texturing of the movie gate looks better...feels more real and stone like as if it really is thousands of years old...the sg-1 gate not as much...the movie gate also moves alot faster when it is dialing.

What I could never figure out is what the steam was all about in the SG-1 Gate. SGA gate was good, but I like the original. And Sam's tight black T shirts. :icon_eek:

The MW gates reminded me of one of these old rotary telephones with the dial, a very nostalgic look for me.
But the Pegasus gate looks more modern and sophisticated.

I'm torn- I love them both equally !!

I believe the steam has to do with the SGC's dialing computer or interface, not the Stargate itself.

Anyway, I'd have to say the Pegasus gates. Between the blue colour scheme, lighted symbols, and different sounds, it justs seems more high-tech to me. The Milky Way gates fit the tone of early SG-1 better, I'll admit that. The SGU gates aren't even in the running. Ugly as hell, you can't tell how many chevrons have been engaged without looking really hard, and it's a piece of shit to boot.

I didn't know that...I've actually been thinking about it for some time now. Today is my day off and I actually have time to be on here.

What did the Gateworld people think? I'm guessing they were nicer to the SGU gate.
If the SGU gate wasn't so dark and rusty I might like it.

Actually most liked the MW gates and some the Pegasus and Destiny style gates. Some even hated the Destiny gates despite being SGU supporters lol

I liked the huge gate that the Ori dudes built to sneak there ships threw . Now that's a gate ! Friggin HUGE !!!

I have a hard time choosing between the SG-1 gate and the Atlantis one. There both great for slightly different reasons. Like already mentioned, the SG-1 (or SGC) gate is fantastic because of all the "MacGyvering". I love the huge clamps and the electric cables and the steam. And the ramp! It's a blend of alien and human ingenuity.
The Atlantis gate is, well, aquatic. I love the colours and the lighting up chevrons, and it fits the whole feel of too-advanced-for-us Ancient tech really well.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say that visually, when it's not spinning, the SGU gate is aesthetically almost as pleasing to me as the earlier gates. Almost. Granted, it's messed up and impossible, but I don't think it's ugly. As long as it's not spinning.

Maybe I'll vote later when I can make up my mind between SGC and Atlantis.

Just watched my favourite gate scene. Ghost in the Machine where Shep wacks the orbiting gate and it stabilizes itself. They used to do really neat things on the show. Didn't know there was a gate on SGpoo.

All the gates look pretty awesome. Would be nice to see them all used in the same show (somehow).

I am partial to the blue of the Atlantis gate though.

LOL those are some biased pictures A4L hehe . I like these pictures. When they have a dark BG and make the gate stand out.

I like Atlantis the most. Though I'll say SGU is not that bad. Perhaps thats because in the darkness it looks beautiful. . SG1 I like the least, but perhaps that's because of lighting as well.

No contest for me. Atlantis had the best gate by far . Love the blue chevrons and how the symbols lit up. Beautiful gate and such a beautiful place to Atlantis.Wish i could go there lol.
