Mallozzi's Mailbag & More II

He's doing it as part of his lookback at stargate, sure the script sounds like junk, but can't fault him for wanting togive the SGA fans something, more than Bard gave them at least :P
The new show is the Transporter.

I can fault him....he is desperate for attention...they have meds for that you know...;) as for brad...he is getting what he deserves I am sure!

Seriously Rac80, is there nothing that cannot be solved with the right meds? you sure your not a pharmacological dealer?? :P

And desperate for attention Joe may be sure, but like I said, people are getting more from him than anyone else, we have heard nothing from Brad or Rob about stargate of any stripe since the anouncement that it was all dead have we?

Sure
Still, some people want to hear what the Atlantis movie could have been like, (even though it's getting slammed by SGA fans and SGU fans alike)

Honestly , yeah I'm cynical, do you believe a word that comes out of his mouth (or on his blog)? I don't think the movie was EVER going to be made...it's all baloney! :P

I agree with Rac, I think the movie was NEVER going to be made. I think that the Stargate Extinction script he wrote was nothing more than a "please can we do this" script and I know for a fact that it was never given any greenlight by MGM or Brad Wright. So, it was NEVER going to get made. Now that we know what he had planned, I am grateful for EATG!

You two are misunderstanding me, my bad.
All I am trying to convey is that of any of the PTB/W, he is the only one still "putting stuff out there", I won't enter into weather Extinction ever would or wouldn't have been made (probably not), or the veracity of the guys claims, just that he still is doing something stargate related. Is he doing it just for the traffic? who knows, and really, who cares?
Make more sense now?

I understand what you're saying but I would point out that even though he's the only one doing anything Stargate related what he has put out there is damaging to his credibility as a writer. In this case I think it would have been better to let sleeping dogs lie than to toss out some tired, hackneyed story idea. Or, if he was going to offer up a "what could have been" scenario for either SGA or SGU he could have made it very exciting. How the hell would we know if it was true or not? Plus, he's a writer and he's had significant down-time since SGU fizzled. I can't believe that a professional writer couldn't come up with some better story ideas than the crap that he did. All signs point to him being burnt out on Stargate and listing towards being a hack.

Hey, if he chooses to do something to *potentially* harm himself, thats his bag, like I said, everywhere I look the script for Extinction is met with scorn and ridicule. I'm not saying it's a good idea, but it is nice in a way for those who do value his ideas (in fandom) to get to hear them, certainly better than the hand washing that Brad and Robert have done. :P

I don't think we're arguing here. I have nothing against JM reaching out to fans and giving them a treat of sorts, rather, I just take issue with that treat being dog crap served up as caviar. Ya dig my man?

And the upside to all of this is that we get to talk about JM and make fun of him still, so I guess in a way he has given us a treat. :D

My opinion? YES! It's very fascinating that JM is pulling out this maybe-written script everytime when it looks like his mailbag is getting smaller. Sorry for being this cynical but as someone with two blogs running over the last couple of years I know who the traffic is manipulable. It's always about the time. The last couple of years JM began to spoiler the new season in the middle of the summer, now he comes with that script. Come on, boy, he is so predictable! *rolls eyes*

JM is trash, pure and simple. You know the man seethes with jealousy and resentment every time Warehouse 13 or Eureka or Sanctuary comes on. He probably tried like hell to get on the writing staff of all of those shows and they laughed him away. It says something when you go from writing/producing Stargate material to not even being able to get a job from Amanda Tapping whom you've worked with for umpteen years. What a loser!

I want to see him get on his knees before The Flan and beg forgiveness for being dissed by JM. :) Im glad that JM is dissing Brad Wright (as is Robert Cooper and Paul Mullie) by aligning with Cooper and essentially "firing" Brad by not including him in any of the writing for Transporter, but including everyone else. Alas, what Im hearing about Transporter is sounding more like the standard fare "looks are everything" type of show with pretty people (which means some soap) and probably the requisite shaky cam and perhaps some snappy music. Yawn.

But back to the topic, JM really should have just kept that awful script idea a secret. It sounds like a WTF-fest and Im certain I would have been facepalming. :)

Production starts on Transporter.

The series features an all-star Canadian production team that will take the helm in Toronto, including Executive Producers Fred Fuchs (Camelot), Robert Cooper (Stargate), Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie (Stargate) and directors Stephen Williams (Lost), Bruce McDonald (Trigger) and Andy Mikita (Stargate), alongside international partners, including Executive Producers Alexander Ruemelin (The Volcano) and Luc Besson.

It will be interesting to see how this show goes now he has been forced to write a bible and stick to it and these eps have supposedly be re-written and gone over so many times. JM has had some great ideas in his time, perhaps with a firmer hand some good may come from it. Still, not holding my breath however..... :P

Thats my take as well. I have a strong feeling that he more than "ended up with" the Executive Producer position for Atlantis because Brad and Cooper wanted to EP Stargate Universe. I also think that Mallozzi feels more comfortable being on a team than being the boss of one. Im like that too. :). With regard to your comment about being forced to stick to the show bible, that is KEY to his success. He has great creative ideas. Brad Wright was a lowlier worm than Mallozzi.

stone you didnt know? and besson doesnt have any part in the production besides his name as he made "transporter" so dont get your hopes up.

and personally i dont think this will be good at all and most likly it will feel as a cheap knock off like sg1 did in the begining, and seeing as the majority of the people working on it previously worked on SG id say thats a high probability..

and fun fact what with these SG people? RIPOFF artists imo and theyve never had an original idea... they just make what someone else has thought up and sort of make it work for tv... then take all the credit  LOSERS!

Still, I have much respect for Luc Besson. I usually enjoy his movies.
