Does it move faster? is it not as bloody...cause there were parts of the books that just gagged me. :( supposedly the final book is to be released soon... I know they have been saying that for years...I personally think the writer is stuck and can't figure out how to finish the series:P... anyway I am not sure if I'll buy it or not. Illiterati- look for a used bookstore...you might be able to find copies there.

Arya was my fave character with Tyrion (sp?) coming in a close second. I guess I might have to breakdown and buy HBO to see these, unless HBO does a free weekend soon. Then they'll be available on demand. :P

I know they will be releasing the next book in the series soon, but I don't know for sure if it's going to be the last book just because there was so much to wrap up. I thought I read that there would at least 3 more books to , but I could be wrong. Honestly it's been so long between books I didn't think he'd ever finish it.

I just watch all the eps over the weekend and Arya is my favorite character. The series seems pretty true to the books so far. I can't think of anything that's being left out, but perhaps someone who's read them more recently can correct me if I'm wrong. I'll definately be watchng each week.

Did anybody SEE last week's ep? :icon_eek: It had one of the most gratuitous sex scenes on cable I have ever seen. And I think I have a pretty high constitution for it. :PThe character is said to be particulary seedy and sadistic but that was more than I thought the scene callled for and it went on and on and on. I am a lttle surprised what they showed. Cable must be getting a little more.............carefree to say the least. :icon_e_wink:

Yeah, it was very gratuitous like most of the nudity I've seen on HBO and totally unnecessary. But they have to feed the fanboys I guess. It was just meant to serve as a monologue, it reminded me of the 'BJ monologues' from Torchwood. Ridiculous.

I never saw Torchwood, or Spartucus, So maybe that is why it shocked me. I think if it was a male and female they would not have taken it so far. But because it was the two females they allowed much more. Tudors never went that far, and Borgias does not either. I am far from a prude, but that was pushing it for me.

Is that how every HBO show is? There does seem to be more sex in the series than I remember in the books, but as said ealier, it's been a while since I read the book.

Ah, well basically the thing from Torchwood was that one of the main characters played by Ian McShane would be getting a bj and he would just talk the entire time with uh...noises in the background. Bit much. You'd think with the strong writers of HBO shows they would be able to write around it instead of have this 'information dump' in midst of graphic sex. Good writing I've read from lots of places says you 'show, never tell'. I guess they take it, they'll do the telling while showing gratuitous sex.

Not to that extent, in my opinion. It also felt more out of place like some of the other sex scenes in this show and in the others. For a blip it would have made sense but for the entire scene to be about him having these two women do this and that, felt very gratuitous to me.

Think it might be a male dominated viewing audience and most fantasies uh well favour lesbian stuff being sort of male dominated and they try to pass it off as open-mindedness or some bs. If it was about open-mindedness, then they should equally write in a gay scene, but they don't, lol.

I don't know. I would say anything is possible these days. Whatever the scene, it should not detract away from the storyline, it should add to it. The ep's whole flow kinda stopped for awhile there before they got back to what I thought was a very good episode.

Eh, don't let that stop you from watching though, you might like all the twists they have coming up, I didn't too much in the novels. At this point, I'm more interested in the battle scenes, wanna see how they handle it because some of them get very grand I guess. lol oh no, I'm in it for the pew pew now, lol or whatever the equivalent for pew pew is for fantasy.

The only other HBO show I watch is True Blood and they have a lot of sex scenes in that show as well. I'm sure they try to push the boundries just to see what they can get away with because people like us will talk about it and then more people will tune in to see what we're talking about.

I forgot about that, that show does seem to make the scenes be more "Revelant" to the flow of the story though. :icon_e_wink:

For me a lot of the sex on True Blood seems like they needed something to fill up the hour. I'm thinking specifically about the scenes with Sookie's brother (Can't remember his name). It seems like he's with someone different every week for no apparent reason.

He has a hollywood disease? Oops, I mean a real psychological disorder. Just joking, never watched the show.

Yes and he's often naked. I mean, they really push the scenes where they can get his clothes off as if it's soooooooooooo riske' and titillating.

Sex and nudity are fine but when it's over done to the point of being glaringly gratuitous it just gets tiresome.

I agree with Sookie's brother Jason, other than the werewof chick, I think his character has been wasted. But the vampire sex scenes seem to fit what it is that makes them up and that is what the whole show is about.
