I guess I should of made my icon a little bit bigger so every one can read it.
.. World Premiere - Season 3 - 2014 - 03 - 16 ..
GlobalTV, the owners of Showcase, just finished broadcasting Episode 1 over on the National site. In case you haven't seen it. Alec being the omnipresent financier from the Future creates a 'branch plant' operation in another city.
I am loving where they took this season. Although in reality I do not believe time travel is possible, they explore temporal possibilities in this show like no other. And they start out the season with a cliffhanger!
I guess we have to be cryptic for the next few weeks. All that released video we saw wasn't as bad as I thought. Kiera might have to retire that green trench coat of hers.
After watching the premiere episode two or three times I am still slightly discumboobulated. Brawls and gun fights; poor Alec drooling over his long lost love; as well as Kiera having to trim Catherine's tree, or was that a bush.
Anyways we are off to a rip-roaring start, and as usual no one is safe.

I LOVED IT. I am not sure why they have thrown this new cabal into the mix (don't we already have Liber8?) Why are they now making use of temporal paradox people doubles in the timelines? This reminds me of the multiple Capt Braxtons in Voyager's "Relativity" episode. But it is being handled well. Kiera shoots Kiera in the head? AWESOME!
Bingo...I didnt want to diss him in case you thought he was cute. He looks like some sort of emo with a 'tude. I had to make this to communicate how I see him.
That can't kill him because he is in prison in the future and was considered the main figure head to the rebellion . But he does give you the creeps . I think everyone wants to take aim an shoot him . Funny how Kiera shoots herself without a second glance but gets all confused and teary eyed over shooting him . That bustard Carlos talked her out of it in season 2

I don't think Kiera killed herself. I can't see herself shooting 'older Kiera' in the face. This episode was a little quieter than last week's premiere.
By the looks of it we are starting to see the 'pruning' of the older time-line to what the ordained historical record will probably eventually look like.
If you are big at solving murder cases then this episode is right up your alley. Last year I thought we would see some major warrage between Kiera and Emily at seasons end. Just don't know about it this time, as I was fooled once last year. Fool me twice and it will be a shame on the writers this time.

Being a West Coaster I have the priviledge of seeing the show over and over if I wanted too. This time the show was not a brain drainer like it was last week.
On this day in the past the Freelancers broke into Jason's loft and created havoc, while on this day in recorded history no such thing happened.
Actually, I am thinking that the new owners of "Continuum" might of suggested that the production staff do some retro-fitting. Thus they are busy cleaning up the "buyers-remorse", wiping out some of the characters and making due with a course correction or two.

Last season, it appeared that they were going to permanently seal off Kiera's future and have her stop whining about getting back to her son and family. I took that as a good thing. But this chasing of criminals (and now doubles) through time changes the show significantly. It is moving towards Quantum Leap. Im downloading the second episode.
Being an old sci-fi viewer from years past I was thinking I could see some Quantum Leap. My guess though is that we are slowly moving away from the police procedural to more like a 'Thin Man' show with a whole lot of sci-fi thrown in.
Thunderbird bought out, or amalgamated with Reunion Pictures( the financier of "Continuum"). One of their next projects is a mini-series called "Ascension" for SyFy, coming in November/ December.

I guess Shawmedia was giving seed money to Simon Barry, the creator of 'Continuum" by-way of Reunion Pictures.
Shawmedia is a huge cable operation in western Canada. They must own Showcase, a minor cable TV station. As well they bought up Global TV at what could of been a 'distressed' price. From my memory, as bad as it is, I am thinking Global TV was connected with the 'Andromeda' and 'Mutant X' series. When the station became financially in trouble they jettisoned these series to save money.
And where were we? Reunion Pictures was big in the 'mini-series' world producing shows like 'Tin Man' and 'Alice', as well as from what I have read the TV series "Flash Gordon". From years back when I was looking up "Continuum" I remember reading that they filmed the 'X-File' pilot, so in that regard I am not going to hold the average looking 'Flash Gordon' against them.
If I remember correctly some of the Thunderbird fat-cats are associated with Lions Gate( named after a local bridge probably) Films. It would be interesting to check out and see how many new executives/ producers were brought in, and see how many other employees were either dropped, or were asked to move on? If they threw a substantial amount of extra money at Barry, I hope it went into the end product?
Somewhere in their portfolio they mentioned "Blade Runner 2". Maybe all the experience they garner making "Continuum" can be placed towards any new movies they make.
Just like EvilSpaceAlien says:'Simon Barry is still the showrunner so there hasn't been any major change in the creative staff from what I know.'
I thought this was hilarious, so I will throw this in: Spoilers are involved so beware if you have not seen these episodes.
TV Guide: I wanted to ask you this last week. The time travel sphere was buried by Alec and the GPS coordinates were shown on his cell phone. Did anyone go to the location after the episode aired and dig for it? Was it there?
Simon Barry speaking: We actually buried a time ball in that location, which is where we shot the scene. We buried the time ball with a note, and somebody came and collected it. Now, the note had said for the person to get in contact with us, take a selfie and send it to us and we would have some other goodies for them, but they have never contacted us. We have two theories: either a real-life Jason found it and is now trying to figure it out, or a wild animal dug it up and took it away. It’s a complete mystery.
For those who missed this part. A person claimed that the co-ordinates that we see Alec taking note of were not the GPS bearings for 'Crab Park'. So they must of buried something at the different location and no one has come forward. Now, if I had uncovered the real version of the 'Terry's chocolate apple' do you honestly think I would come forward with it?
COUNCIL EDIT: I have enclosed your spoilers in the spoiler tags. - Overmind One
I love the direction they are taking in this show! They seem to have changed the focus back closer to the original premise, but the time travel ball has become more important than it used to be. I love the way they have created the new dynamic with Escher, Jason and Alex (no spoilers here). And that Emily...she looks disturbingly like Jewel Staite. I bet Jewel would have had this part if she had been younger. They look like different aged versions of each other.
