Point well taken. However, if somebody tried to make an Atlantis knockoff like this using cheesy effects and replacing all of the actors with a single actor, whilst using the footage from the show and interposing cheesy effects, I would feel just as I do about this one.

I really do not understand why some people are SO AFRAID to be honest and vocal about things. In a football game, we have our team, and we have "the other". We loudly cheer and jump when our team scores, and we boo and thumbs down when the other team scores. The Gong Show did not just quietly sit back on a terrible performance and then only clapped for the good ones. They freakin clapped that gong loud and clear to let the performer know they SUCKED.
Having said that, I feel absolutely no guilt whatsoever saying I find this pathetic Stargate: Distant Hope thing cheesy and amateurish. Sitting back and being polite about it is rather dishonest IMO. Unless, of course, we LIKE the thing.

One viewing of the "interviews" of the people making this thing immediately tells you that these people are NOT Stargate fans. They have no clue about what they are producing. They did not even start hearing about Stargate until SGU. This comes from their own lips. I owe them no fan loyalty at all.

You are half-right -- let me explain. Yes, generally it is best to ignore something that you don't like so as not to promote it. Obvious equation that everyone knows, but in this instance that really is a moot point as this fan fic production is sooooooooooo laughably bad that it can't possibly succeed no matter how much attention it gets. In fact, the public derision this thing gets now should be enough to quell any future plans these people have for producing more of this crap. So promoting it so that others mock it is sort of a good thing in a way.
At any rate, I hear you about not promoting lame stuff but like I said in this instance it really can't hurt, in fact in a way it can only help from my perspective. Besides, this is some funny shit! Tell me you didn't laugh at the idiocy of this stuff? It's hilarious, more so because they're so sincere about producing it.

BINGO. If they put it out there, then they are going to be judged by SOMEONE. Its the same with every show we discuss on these forums. It should not make a difference if "fans" are producing it or not. If it is good, then we say so. Star Trek Phase II is GOOD. Some of the episodes have some shredded cheese sprinkled on top, but usually it is for comedic effect. Look at your stuff, for instance. You put it out there, but because it is top notch, nobody can really say anything bad about it. These morons put out this thing and they are nowhere near the production values of SGU. The fact that they are using SO MUCH footage, so much of the original show like the music and the premise, they invite scorn even from SGU fans and they are going to get it.
I somehow doubt that. The fans were specific about what they liked about SGU. Eli, Chloe and Scott, Dr Rush and the Destiny. Others liked TJ or Col Young or Greer. This fan thingie they are doing eliminates ALL of that, and puts this Liam dude in their place, and changes the premise to him being alone and telling of his lone struggle. They did not even bother to write anything plausible. They have him on Icarus with the original crew, and then they dump the crew and have him alone walking around alone on Planet Vancouver or Edgewood or wherever they are. That is NOT Stargate Universe and I fail to see any squeeworthy elements in this show other than it is something new for SGU. That will wear off within minutes into this thing, if that trailer was any indication:surprise:

I mean, did you notice in the clip that Liam has a peach fuzz moustache? I got mine when I was about 15 years old. This guy looks to be about 17 or 18 years old. But he is a MAJOR in the Air Force? Impossible and laughable. I already had issues with Scott being a Major. Right from the gate, I would have trouble suspending belief. Scott looks like an old man compared to Liam, and he was too young to be a Major. And then there are the AWFUL effects and the borrowed music. The best parts of the trailer are the splices from the real show, and the title work at the beginning. I will try to keep an open mind, but I think this thing is going to spawn a hilariously raucous thread here when it comes out next month!

and yes personally i do indeed see the humor in it im just afraind these retarded squeedrones will make this huge deal about it cling to it and claim its the bees knees like they did with the real show and knowing these aquee drones i think thats a safe bet as they completly lack any kind of functioning brain patterns.

Dude, I think you need to watch that clip again! This time, try to imagine yourself as an SGU fan (I know, close to impossible).
All I used to hear from them was how cool Dr Rush was, or how they loved Chloe and Scott being a couple, or especially Eli. None of that is in this thing. What will they like? For them, it will be as awful as SGU was for us SG-1 and Atlantis fans. I seriously think they will not like it. But they will be nice to the producers of the thing. Im gonna be laughing. 
Well, just search for their comments and they will say what they like about the show. None of those things will be in this thing they are making. They dont even have anyone playing the real crew. They will be all "Where is Eli?", and "Who is playing Dr Rush?". Trust me on this.
Frankly, I think they will feel INSULTED by this thing. I was ready to diss Star trek Phase II until I actually saw it, and it is really the best and most professionally made fan series out there.
