What about profitability?

So that would mean that SGU, based on the 1 million more statement by BW/JM, would cost 2.5 - 3 million US per episode. Since they aren't putting that extra million into special FX then where is it going? Sure, the cast might be larger on SGU verses SGA, but are the salaries of LDP and Robert Carlyle that high? No matter though as a production budget that high verses ratings numbers as low as they are just don't work together.

And I still maintain that the numbers tossed out by BW are hyperbole. Sure they might have put money into the initial pilot and a couple episodes at first but I just don't see 3 million on the screen these days. I don't know where that imaginary 3 million is going but if it's being used to pay the actors then TPTB are fools with their money. No matter as it's sinking fast and I'm more than happy with that.
Well it's safe to say the $3m isn't spent on lighting bills.

IMO, it is spent on actors, who is the most famous out of the bunch of them? ... Robert Carlyle... hmm...

In that case they're laughing all the way to the bank -- and I applaud them for helping kill off this horrible turd of a show.

A little research on some TV shows per episode costs

Fringe: 4-5 million per

ER: Topped out at a whopping 13 million per

The Wire: 2 million per

Deadwood: 5 million per

TNG back in the day: over 1 million per

Spartacus: 2-2.5 million per

And that certainly wasn't for props or special effects! :icon_lol:

No 2011 Turkey

One really wonders where the money came from. Most shows are given an initial 13 weeks but SGoo was ordered out to 20 and filmed. With so-so ratings they were renewed another season of 20 episodes which just finished filming in spite of terrible ratings.

The question is, "Why does this abomination still have legs?" If failed miserably at the Gemini's (1 of 9 nominations) and their "fixes" are having the opposite effect of driving viewers away. Some shows are cancelled episode 1.

Just what does it take to Cancel This Turkey?

lets not forget its failure to make it onto the People's choice awards. epic fail when there is not enough fans to get the show even mentioned.

this turkey is still riding the high of the previous shows, but that has to end at some point. it can never undo the below million ratings its had. it will always be the worst performing stargate show of the 3, no-one can change that.
