I'm sick of all the car commercials that feature a SW theme for no reason at all. Seriously, what does driving a car have to do with a fantasy movie?

Now, my much older nephew is a teen and he wants me to take him to see this. . I am not sure I can make it through the whole movie, it was that bad. Also, I am now starting to hear a rising chorus against this movie from real Star Wars fans. Most of them are NOT ok with the changes and stuff seen in The Last Jedi.

This movie, like Into Darkness and Beyond, managed to retroactively worsen the movies which came before them. Star Trek 2009 was okay, until Into Darkness and Beyond came out and now I find the 2009 movie un-rewatchable. The Last Jedi ruined whatever was built in The Force Awakens which had it's own serious flaws, in my opinion.
So, Abrams is the root of ruin for Star Trek AND Star Wars. Yeah, Rian Johnson did this one, but it is still doing Abrams' Star Wars. Justin Lin did Beyond, but he did it in the dented universe that Abrams created with Kurtzman, and that paved the way for Discovery which I think totally sucks.

hey, its just the guy's opinion.
i still think that some of the reasons ppl give for 'hating' the movie are based on their misunderstanding of some things.
any how..just a movie. no reason to boil the hackles
btw- it is my least favorite SW's movie..for me R1 is the best movie and REBELS is the best SW's story.
both have no Skywalkers (except for vader and leia at the very end of R1) and are mostly outside of the same old tiring 'boy from desert planet saves girl and becomes a wandering hermit' thing

Agree on R1 being the best new SW movie, by far. It's more than it just being new characters, it was written in a different style, and the pacing was much different. It felt more Star Wars than the original trilogy even! Perhaps that was just because of the exceptional visuals and how they were identical in appearance to the OT. I like Rebels a lot, but I enjoyed TCW better.

It's like the creative well has run dry in the blockbuster department. Star Wars might suffer the ultimate fail, which would be to be considered uncool. Star Trek has already fallen to that.
Have you seen TLJ yet? The things they did in it are not fixable.

No I'm waiting for it to hit a streaming service. I've given up on seeing first-run films in the theater. But every fan review I've seen of TLJ has been negative and even incredulous at what they did to the franchise.
