I really think you guys are over estimating the mckay effect...many sga fans I know won't watch it out of fear of what they will do to mckay.

You could be right, amongst the "fans" (those who post on internet sites) there will be some watching and some not just because it's !McKay or !DavidH, but for the audience of casual viewers, who really make or break the ratings, the only ones who probably even know he's going to be on are the ones who watched last weeks episode and saw the promos.

I think there will be a slight uptick (although,as MediaSavant said at GW, it's the NCAA Finals that night which could affect the ratings), but not a huge one.

I like McKay, but won't watch SGU for him. When SGA returns (in my dreams) then I'll tune in!

I felt that way too....until the promo came out.

I actually felt that way myself. But that was before they came out with the promo for this episode. What I see in that clip is OUR McKay (evidently). He isnt Pod McKay or Rod from the Atlantis AU. He doesnt APPEAR to be horribly modified like Pod Jack and Pod Daniel. Same with Woolsey...they appear to be done true to the character...this time. What Im afraid of is that they will do something horrible with him IN THE STORY, not to his character. Somehow, I think that his appearance late in the season was setting him up for future appearances in SGU's season 3 which they never got to make. If that is true, then they might leave a copy of him in the database of Destiny and then have him be a "vision" on a regular basis. I really cant guess. But for me that would be horrible. :facepalm:

So, I picked 1 million because that seems to be all that SGU has been able to muster on a consistent basis, and also because many SG-1/SGA fans like myself cannot resist the compulsion to have a chance to see Rodney McKay again, even in a Stargate soap opera. :)
