I love how respectful these cats are toward one another. This is something I have noticed in my own "family unit". Cats share. They don't have a mentality of me me me. Initially, you see the cat who managed to get the treats to fall to the bottom gets to eat the first treat. Then the other one carefully yet confidently reaches over and takes one treat. That cat was at ease that he wouldn't be attacked by the other one for stealing their loot. Then the first cat takes a treat again, and another, because hey I was the one who got these out, but leaves the last treat for the other cat. That seems like the most fair way to share those 5 treats, almost completely equal, but what couldn't be equally split went to the cat who managed to get them out. Another way the social behavior of cats is demonstrated in this video is that they take turns trying to get to the treats in the first place. First, the left cat does something to the puzzle, but doesn't get any treats out of it. Then the other cat gets a go and manages to fish out a treat from the top. Then the left cat gets a turn to paw at the puzzle again, while the other one patiently waits its turn. Then the right cat tries to get another treat from the top but gives up after a little while, and the left cat gets another go. I think this is fantastic. Imagine these were two humans, would they be as civilized and considerate toward each other? Perhaps they would, but perhaps not.

(No, I don't just watch cat videos, this is just a coincidence)

Another great example of social behavior among cats. Adult cat is confronted with a new strange kitten in his own home. Tolerates the kittens intrusions, up to a certain point (well beyond the point one would tolerate some random stranger's nuisance), then gently lets the kitten now they crossed a line. Clearly, the adult cat knows that they are dealing with a kid who just wants to play and doesn't know anything about the big bad world they are in. If that had been another adult cat suddenly showing up in their domain, they would have displayed a completely different behavior. I love cats.

the academic rot is real; anti Science, anti intellectualism is being taught. I went to a Religious School from 8th to 12th grade and was hard science-- evolution, gravity, round earth and sex ed in 11th grade-- all the way

this? sad

It is a bit different for big cats. I do watch animal and wildlife documentaries all the time and just saw one about this. In the wild, the female lioness must do all the hunting and taking care of the cubs. They bring home the fresh kill and call in the cubs and try to eat as fast as they can since once the male lions come over they push them all off the food... hence the phrase " the lion's share ". There is a reason to it though, if the male Lions are not at their absolute best they won't be able to tight off the outsider males lions. If this happens the male outsiders will kill off the male lions then all the cubs and then force the females to bare them new cubs of their own. The female lioness all know this so they kill as much as possible to keep the male lions strong in their pride and feed their own cubs and not starve to death themselves.

It is a different ball of wax in our house, and most others, for our beloved pets where they must realize how good they have it and so all are happy to share.

Also funny how the site is predicting what my wife will be posting tomorrow evening. That's some pretty advanced AI at work there.

Wow, that's a neat trick! So, it looks like a timestamp thing. How many hours difference?
Well, that post was actually made by @Quetesh on April 26th, and earlier today, that being on the 4th of May, it was telling me it was posted tomorrow, which would be on the 5th of May. That would appear to be a difference of exactly 9 days. I should note that I was looking at it on my phone, which I rarely use to visit Gatefans, and it might have had something to do with a latent timestamp stored in the cache from a previous visit or something. Might not actually be anything wrong with the site. But I found it interesting.

Really odd since my pc is set to US time since I watch US streaming platforms on it and wanted the vpn timestamp to align.

Your laptop has nothing to do with how the site looks on my phone.
