Castle is one of my favorite non sci-fi shows, and this episode was great. Regarding Kate Creaver mask at the end, that wasn't cruel, that was just totally in character for her, in her relationship with Castle.
On a related note.
Back in the 80's, there was another ABC romantic comedy called "Moonlighting", starring Bruce Willis & Cybil Shepard. It ran for 5 years, but it had it's problems; writers' strikes, star injuries, etc. This resulted in a very large number of repeats as they couldn't produce new content, which drove ratings into the tank.
In a desperation move, once production resumed, the writers eventually got Maddie & David to "do the deed". This took the sexual tension out of the show, and since that was the main attraction, sealed its fate. The show floundered a while after that, but eventually was cancelled.
This season, Castle has seen Kate & Castle tie the knot. Does anyone else see the same thing happening here? With the "will they or won't they" component removed, to me, the show seems to have lost something.
Will it go the way of Moonlighting?
