Joker: Folie à Deux - Why?

Well after seeing this film I asked myself the question above. Why? Why even make it?

A few years back Joker was an excellent movie, a well acted and written character story about Arthur Fleck and his descent into insanity. I never really considered him a true "Joker" but as a look at mental health and its issues this was a good film. It was also a one off and should have stayed that way because....

Joker: Folie à Deux is a mess. The acting is uneven from everyone, the pacing is incredibly sluggish and the worst part is the story. It is idiocy and destroys the character of Arthur Fleck in the process. In fact it actively undoes the character development in the last film. Also the character of Harley Quinn is so oddly written she is not Harley Quinn at all.

The movie is underperforming at the boxoffice and hopefully is just buried and forgotten.

I was going to see this movie on Saturday, but my friends who saw it on Friday told me to save my money. I looked for reviews and watched at least 5 of them and came away with the idea that this new Joker film was "out of place" and regressed Arthur Fleck's character. Also, it was a jukebox musical of sorts too? WHY is a great question! I will see it eventually, but I'm not going to pay for it!

Indeed. There was zero reason to make a sequel. Joker was a one off and should have been left like that.
