Since I love to torture myself I am just about to do another update from apple ...8.03 or something like that . Let's see what fun this will bring ...Half my pictures will not show in my pic library since the last update . Just a blank square . You click on it and the pic appears but then quickly disappears lol ... Phone also lost it's ability to connect to a usb on a computer but is now working for some reason . It is beyond fricken super slow now to connect to wi-fi or surf the web and battery life is horrible . It can't get threw a whole day without having to be charged . By 11:30 am it's way below half with out me using it .It only has the wi-fi on and auto screen brightness running plus my phone service . Screen level location locks in one position until I turn the phone over , then back again to be level ... what a pain as I always hold my phone a certain way but now I have to use it like a flip phone by turning the phone upside down to see the screen right side up ...
For some odd reason the letter t while typing or texting will not always work . I have to use another finger or thumb to get it to register .

A buddy of mine has an iPhone that will slow down yet also burn through the battery charge incredibly fast sometimes. Every tme it happens he has to have the IT person at his job do an update on it and then it fixes the problem. I don't know if Android users ever have this problem but it sure seems like a pain to experience.

The words "Android" and "problem" are mutually exclusive.
At our company, the Android phones are usually seen only once to set up company email, then they are good to go. The iPhone users have so many problems with their phones, there is a company policy telling them not to bring the iPhones to IT for troubleshooting. It lists the phone numbers to Apple and a map showing the Apple stores within 20 miles.
There hasnt been an iPhone created to even slightly pique my interest.

- Phone won't make calls? Solution: get an update
- Phone locks up often? Solution: get an update
- Batter drain? Solution: get an update
- Becomes slow and laggy after 2 hours of use? Solution: get an update
- Signal becomes flaky after a couple hours? Solution: get an update
- Phone won't unlock? Solution: you're shit out of luck cuz you need to unlock to update, go see an Apple Associate

BTW, I wasted a chunk of time catching the DEFECATION season premiere the other day. It was kind of interesting to see the winter setting for the show as Tripler was posting those shots from the set areas back in winter.
As for the show itself, I didn't watch hardly any of last season because it's a lame show. But that didn't stop me from figuring out what's going on in this new season. It didn't look horrible but it also didn't look great. The problem I'm having with the show is the egregious amount of humanoid aliens species that populate the show with no explanation to their existence. How did they end up as humanoid? Why the hell are they all here on Earth?
Even the new aliens they introduced were just human actors with the occasional bout of CGI thrown in. Their reason for existing, at least to me, is still unexplained. This show really, really needed to lay a better foundation for this world at the very beginning.

Well, Defiance is back.
I'll say one thing...they sure know how to reduce the number of storylines. Just slaughter characters on a wholesale basis. Combined with last seasons finale they now have everything narrowed down to a small set of plots:
- The Votanis Collective wants to conquer Defiance and their general is a total scumbag
- Predatory aliens have arrived (think Wraith)
- Survival of the town
Like last season the pacing is much improved and there was a noticeable absence of soap. That said, we still lack any backstory for what already is in place. The Earth Republic came and went with no real exposition on who they were and/or where they came from. Now we have the Votanis Collective - same lack of explanation. At least the new aliens - the Omec - were explained. It seems they used to rule the Votan and used them for food before the whole series of events bringing the Votan to earth. Seeing as they view all other life as food they are effectively Wraith.
Like I said earlier if they would ever explain the backstory in at least a functional manner they could have a nifty little show here. Until then you still wind up mystified at character motives and lacking any understanding of the show universe.

Now THAT's funny! We almost cross posted and our posts say almost the same thing! We're both having the same issue - total lack of backstory exposition.
The backstory has already been told, believe it or not.
The problem is that they never followed up on that nor did they care about any sort of continuity with regard to it's premise.- A fleet of ships arrive from a dying solar system, and the ships send out automated drones to terraform the planet not realizing that the planet was inhabited.
- The terraformers changed the surface of the planet and destroyed earth's cities.
- There was a war between the species which arrived and earth's native inhabitants.
- At Defiance, the aliens have formed a cordial community with humans and members of the other species which came with them.
But it is "new" to the millenials who never saw a western.

Yes, and it's this lack of backstory that's making it hard for me to connect to the story and characters.
Also, your comparison to the new enemy being basically the Wraith is correct. The similarity is beyond shocking.
