Illusive Deity of Fanfic
I don't really focus on teh writers in specific much in my research, but Martin Gero would definitely be on my top list as he wrote some of the best (and sadly teh worst) SGA Eps.Hey Everybody!
I think it'd be fun to see what people would have wished for if SGA had gotten a 6th season.
So,
1. If you have to choose ONLY from writers that actually wrote for the show during it's 5 year run - who would your writing team be? (Maximum of 4 writers as the main writing team)
2. What would you like to have seen added more/back to the overall storyline?
3. What would you have done away with in the overall storyline?
4. Which characters would you have wanted to see used/developed more, and which would you have liked to see used less?
Okay, I'll go first.
1. Rob Cooper, Martin Gero, Damian Kindler, Ken Cuperus = Main team (But MG would be banned from writing McKeller ever again... ). And this would only be if they were motivated to write for the show.
CB & AM would get to write a couple of eps per season, but they wouldn't be the main writers, no offense to any of the other writers that weren't chosen. They wrote some good eps over the course of the seasons too like The Siege Pt2, Remnants, and Rising...
2. More Team episodes!!! When I think of my favorite episodes of SGA, they are inevitably mostly team eps. Write for all of the characters, not just a few. Remember past events and write the characters like they remember them as well. I'd also bring Carson back as a main character, preferably CMO with Keller as recurring.
3. I'm done with the Replicator arc, so I wouldn't bring that back, but it was (mostly) cool while it lasted. I would definitely get rid of McKeller heavy stories.
4. Pretty much everyone that is not McKeller needs more attention. No explanation necessary.
Damien Kindler for sure as well, He's got that lighthearted style that fits in very well as a contrast to the dark themes. Keeps it level headed and not melodramatic.
2.) Consequences. I wanted to see the characters develop due to what happens to them rather than just go on about episodic. I wanted to see Sheppard dealing with some serious psychological issues after Common Ground for instance.
3.) Hmm good question. I'll have to get back on this one.
4.) Everyone but McKeller It's so true.
I write my own Virtual Series to suit my and my fans tastes, but really i think you write something aiming at a specific crowd. Were i to actually write TV, i'd write lightly serialized character based action/adventure with dips into drama. A little more than SG-1 i'd say, and for fucks sake keep things consistent.
Humor. That is one thing i cannot do without. Various style depending on the character so some will be goofy, others snarky, some witty, and still others deadpan
