Which episode would you like to see a "Director's Cut" version of?

After re-watching the new SG1 Children of the Gods, I started wondering whether there are any SGA episodes which would likewise benefit from such a revision, say for a special edition Blu-Ray. Of course that's never going to be done, but just for the sake of argument.

I couldn't recall any episodes which I thought were shot in a sloppy manner and would benefit from simple reediting except for the notorious one:

Enemy at the Gate - I wonder if there's enough material to make a really extended version of it (90 min) with normal pace, more suspense moments and filling in of some blanks. Then, they could call in the actors during a season break to shoot some scenes or add dialogue at their convenience. Perhaps even a little more at the end, since we now know that's the last we'll see of them...

The other ones that come to mind are Lost Tribe and Search and Rescue. However, these require IMO some major changes in the story line and additional material. But nothing really 'impossible':

Lost Tribe - In Contrast First Contact was perfect IMO. On the second part they should extend the battle at the end. Or even better, have a more plausible explanation as to why the patched up traveler space junk was so easily able to defeat the all-powerful Asgard who had walked in and out of Atlantis like a picnic. Maybe the appearance of a HUGE wraith armada, or the complete disabling of Asgard defenses using technology from the Milky-Way Asgard would solve the problem.

Search and Rescue - It's not that I didn't like the episode, but after the excellent Last Man and all of the potential, nothing major happened, nothing got really solved. The Michael story line was also weak IMO in that episode. And to think of all that Shep went through just to end up empty-handed...

Have to think about that one. In DVD commentary they often say there was enough story that many could have run longer and were cut into the 44 minute format. Even 2 parters like the Atlantis Siege could have been three.

I know what I don't want to see — a 228 minute clip show.

While I'd love to have extended editions of all of them, just to get more material, especially character moments, the episode that's the most in need of an extended edition is "Enemy at the Gate". Oh, and perhaps MENTION the wormhole drive theory in an earlier episode? And ( I don't remember, so please correct me if I'm wrong ) didn't they feed a ZPM to a hive so that it grew into a super-hive somehow? Did we have any indication whatsoever that this was possible before? It feels like several things ( including the Ronon/Amelia "ship" ) came out of the blue in this episode, and it would have benefitted from not only getting an extended edition, but also having some elements hinted at in earlier episodes. While many people love the episode Vegas ( which was a valid stilistic experiment, but not as the second to last episode ) and some ( very few! ) like "Brain Storm", these two episodes were totally unrelated ( except for the AU Wraith's cross-dimensional message ) to the main arc that needed to be finished. Those 80 minutes could have been used for better things.

For Brainstorm you are right. Vegas, okay, is another question. I cannot put any finger on it but I truly think that this episode could be the beginning of a new chapter in the Atlantis-storyarc. Maybe daydream because I love Vegas  .

Your questions about Enemy at the Gate are right. There was never a single word about a wormhole drive, but TPTB was in need of it because of SGU. With the ZPM ... mh, I cannot remember about something like that was told in EatG. There's a small little voice inside my head who tries to tell me that Lantean and Wraith technology weren't compatible and that this was mentioned before - but here I could make a mistake because of all the fanfics I have read and written all over the years. About the Ronon/Amelia shipping ... well, TPTB used this sledgehammer before with their massive McKeller-operation.

Okay, to come back to topic.
A Director's cut of which episode ... mh, let me think ... I would prefer Rising because there were lost scenes, The Storm & The Eye and Coup d'Etat. Okay, seems I have a little Genii-problem

Robert Davey = excellant villan who had his nuts chopped off in the irre-whatever ep. huge chance, HUGE for something great. mckays torturer, johns arch enemy and what do we get a mexican stand off, WTF what a waste of a truly great actor.

id take a recut of both "irre" eps maybe cut down to the into and credits?

Directors cuts, hard question that. id love all the extra emotional/action bits that were cut due to time to be put back in but these guys at the end
