When SGU is axed, what do you want/think the next series to be?

I kinda like a prequel; showing the 4 great races (the Asgard, Nox, Furlings and the Ancients) history, how they came to be and it's demise.

I doubt it'll be picked up though...anyway, what do you think?

That would be an awesome idea, I think it was discussed on a "What next?" thread a while back.

well, what id ideally like to see is sgu getting erased from the canon and make another series(with knew TBTP)
based on the ninth chevron and it goes to a ship maybe? but a stationary ship make a few inside jokes with the cast

the cast a mix of SG1/SGA and some new,

and the technology? the tech is experimental Ancient technology and there's a reason it stayed Experimental (adds some drama but not overly so and some tech) the rest creativity would do wonders.

I assume you mean within the SG franchise?

I think they might try a reboot of Atlantis - perhaps in some modified form (a couple of new players?).
Either that or a long hiatus. Bringing in a completely new "Stargate show" soon is too risky at this point for the investors.

Rebooting Atlantis would be a good idea, but unlikely. Why not go to the source: The Ancients!

This whole Stargate thing revolves around a singular piece of technology: The STARGATE. That device is and always has been the center of this story and the franchise, and with the exception of SGU, the premise has always been unraveling the mystery of its purpose, where it goes, how it works, who uses them and how/why they were built. So, why not take the story right to the source? That means finding Ancients or their last homeworld. Why not send an SG team through the gate and have them find a whole PLANET full of Ancients (preferably unascended)? They could even be stranded there. On that planet, we could see entire cities, factories where the stargates and Ancient ships were made. We could have ascended Ancients in the show, and unascended ones. We could re-introduce a new Atlantis from that point, or launch a whole new set of things from such a planet.

Whatever the new show was, it would have to be action/adventure with good drama. They could even make it dark and gritty, but forget about the character driven (soap) aspect. And NO BORROWING FROM OTHER SHOWS. Frankly, I kinda didnt like it when the earth people started building starships like the Daedalus and the Hammond which were loaded with beam weapons and transporters and shields (which were ALL borrowed from Trek). They should ONLY have the stargate, and then all technology added would have to be discovered on other planets. This means starting from where the movie left off, not where SG-1 or Atlantis left off.

I don't really want a new series any time soon. I would like a mini series for both SGA and SG1 to resolve the remaining storylines and then call off the series for awhile. Maybe in about 10-15 years, a complete reboot of the franchise. I definately don't want a prequel series about the ancients or something. Part of why I like Stargate is that the show takes place in modern times which makes the characters and situations much more relatable as opposed being set long ago in a galaxy far, far away.

I doubt I'd watch anything new from this particular group of PTB. I'd tune in for an SGA movie and possibly for a SG1 movie, but that's about it at this point. They've pretty much burned their "Bridges" with me.

I dunno which I'd rather go for- a full reboot more in line with the old Bill McCay novels (at least to start with) or a continuation of the current continuity minus SGU (although I think the Rush character is good enough to be reused). If they do a reboot, they need to wait a few years and get more military support so they can get all sorts of hardware that we should've seen in SG-1, like tanks, artillery, that sort of thing. If they continue the current continuity, they could do a soft reboot by having someone finally get some brains and use that solar flare time travel thing to fix all the crap that happened as a result of the SGC getting the idiot ball to further the plot, then bring back the Aschen as bad guys manipulating things behind the scenes through the Lucian Alliance or something.

I've always said that a mini-series to check fan approval and ratings is the best path. But now I'd also say kick the current bums out, all of them. It should be linked to a new SG movie if the originators ever get around to it.

That's what fraked them royally - SyFy signed on for 2 full years of this crap without ever considering the fans might disapprove. But did they listen? Stargate 200 was so prophetic.

I don't know whether it's that unlikely. There have been rumors of JF pushing for a return of SGA. I think producers and Syfy would be more prone to invest in a "guaranteed" success instead of trying something new again right after they lost a lot of money on the latest new series.

Sure, I could go with that!

Sure, if that could happen I would go with it. But Im afraid that Brad and Mozz might try to get some of that action and I would hope that MGM wouldnt allow that to happen. They need to be GONE and not allowed to touch anything after SGU.

We totally agree on that!

Why not look at the SG universe from a completely different perspective...

Stargate: Wraith!

Have the series be from the point of view of Todd, with the humans in the background a bit. It could have a healthy dose of adventure, and Todd could serve as a good antihero...

That would be bold and original. Why not!
