Good points.
MOST of us here do, man! But we are the science fiction audience and our numbers are no laughing matter.
Exactly. This show has borrowed stuff from many shows, but they forgot to puree it and make those parts more subtle. They left it in chunks and we can still see all the identifiable parts, right down to the characters...knockoffs of more popular actors, except Carlyle. I dont know what they were trying to do and I dont think they knew either :icon_e_wink:.
As a middle-aged fucker, I want to say that I resemble that remark.

SGU has borrowed some of the superficial elements of recent successful genre and non-genre shows. However, this borrowing makes SGU appear to be derivative. When one sees dark lighting, one immediately thinks of the re-imagined BSG, not SGU. When one sees two characters mindlessly having sex, one thinks of 90210, not SGU. When one sees characters in a spacecraft that is very far from earth, one thinks of ST: Voyager, not SGU. When one sees the ancient spacesuits on SGU, one thinks of the evil Asgard on SGA, not the dearly departed Alterans on SGU.
None of these elements have been exploited to a degree such that they have become associated, not with the original show, but with SGU.
