Ive been looking for a new book to read and saw a couple of SG-1 and Atlantis books and was just wondering if anyone read any and knows if they are good or not.

Im at a little bit of a loss with what to read next, even though I have a few shelves full of books I havn't read yet

I've read them all apart from "the lost" (it's just been released) There are some good and some not so good. I would say I've enjoyed them all and even more so since SGA has been off the air. Which ones have you considered buying? I liked "hunt & run" a Ronan centric one and the one with the air ships and scary assed wraiths which I've drawn a mind blank on I think that's called Halycon.

I've actually read a few and in my opinion, the best one is Stargate SG1: Roswell. It has everything; humor, action, adventure, and the best thing is that that the author was good at capturing the character voices. You should really give it a read. ;)

One of our members has written a review for "The Lost" somewhere on this site :)

Hmm, will definitely check out Roswell, will have to get them off the internet tho
The one I saw in the book was an SG1 one called Valhalla. Read the first couple pages and it was kind of weird, where they find this giant viking thats about to attack them, plus it seemed like the writer was over-writing the characters, where Jack was over sarcastic and Carter was over analyzing everything.
Thanks for the suggestions

I have eight of the sg1 books-
#3- a matter of honor and #5 - the cost of honor - a two parter written by the same writer. Follows the story after Sg1's season 2, ep 16 A matter of time interesting follow up with good characterizations/
#4 City of the Gods- ok
#8 -Alliances - well written
#9- Roswell- LOVED IT!!!! well done!
#10- relativity -interesting twist in it. well done
#12 - Do no harm- ok
#13 Hydra - interesting twists and turns. a good read.

Snookie has several of the sga books- i'll make a list of them later.

I wanted to throw "Hunt and Run" across the room by the time I finished it, which is sad because I'd really been looking forward to a Ronon-centric book. But the author really made me wonder if he'd even watched Atlantis when he couldn't even get the location of Ronon's tracking implant correct. That's kind of been an issue with several of the books in general--continuity. A person could watch only "Runner" and "Sateda" and get a basic grasp of Ronon which is why "Hunt and Run" was disappointing to me.

"Reliquary" wasn't bad (even if the plot is a bit too close to a certain season two episode though I have no idea which came first) except that Martha Wells made a kitten cry every time she referred to Lantea as "Atlantica". *shudder* I do wish Fandemonium would take some pains with basic continuity. I think it was in "Mirror, Mirror" where Rodney is dreaming of eating lemon merengue pie.

Reliquary was written and took place during season one so the name Lantea was established in Stargate canon yet. I'm pretty sure that the name first came up sometime in season 3...

Except I seem to remember items being referred to as 'Lantean' in that book. But, either way, except for Ford's suggestion of "Atlantica", the planet was never called that *ever* in the series.

If you have a craving for something different in the SG storyline, take a look at Aragon101's Stargate: Universal Sin and Stargate: Dark Frontier.
