Just out of interest do the sunday cable ratings get released at the same time as the monday ones? I'm interested to see how Law and Order: CI did.
Law & Order: Criminal Intent (USA)
- 3.834 million viewers
- 2.5/4 HH
- 1.1/3 A18-49

(a sizable uptick from last week)

While technically speaking this is an uptick from last week's low, it certainly isn't the kind of numbers fans were looking for a show that was pulling in 1.4 million viewers live before the move to Monday and for a strong episode with Tesla (check our episode review). :(

No, but it was finale night for the network series and a smidgeon more than last week. :D

Here's hoping that an end to the big competition and a good episode under their belts that Sanctuary will fare even better next week.

I do believe that Terran77 was the closest prediction with 820,000 (blast! I was a bit over with 840,000; oh well there's always next week :D)

Oh thanks for that :). Really into this show at the moment.

Shame I didn't win the Sanctuary ratings game. Next week I shall play again.

EDIT: Can't green you at the moment, I'll give you some when i can.

Yes, it was running against the finale of Castle and Hawaii 5-0 this week, both of which had a slight increase in viewership as expected. That might have worked against a ratings spike most people were hoping to see for Sanctuary. So perhaps these were good ratings after all...

I agree the quality of "Awakening" will only be reflected in next week's ratings, and I'm also sure the episode will have astounding DVR (Live+7) numbers like the ones we've been seeing since the move to Monday. :)

Change to Mondays can't explain the loss of 600-700 k viewers, that many wrestling fan watch on Fridays? The number of lost viewers is around the same number of SGU die hard squees.

I highly doubt the squeedrone boycott of the syfy channel has any thing to do with the Sanctuary sudden drop off after week 2. It was just fun to say:P

from what I understand sanctuary is holding steady when you add in the live + 7 ratings...more people are dvr-ing it! ;)

The weird part is that the lost Sanctuary viewers did not move to the show SyFy put in that Friday timeslot. Urban Legends is struggling to stay over 1 million, so basically SyFy threw around 400,000 viewers away in this ill advised move. As to why they haven't followed Sanctuaty yet (although the uptick is encouraging) several reasons are plausible. Among them is SyFy doing a long midseason break, destroying continuity and also that 20 episodes may be just too long a season for Sanctuary, as that length requires filler episodes.

I think the +7 seven ratings for Sanctuary are going to be big! Unfortunately we'll only know in weeks.

Another thing to consider is that this week's episode brought in a 0.3 key demo (A18-49), an amazing jump from last week's 0.1 IIRC. I believe what that means is that there were a lot of new viewers this week that weren't there last week (since the total viewers didn't rise by the same proportion) and many viewers from last week watched something else. The best-case scenario is that the viewers outside of the A18-49 demo went to watch the season finale of either Castle or Hawaii 5-0 and DVR'd Sanctuary, and they will be back next week when the competition is gone. The worst-case scenario is that a lot of people gave up from last week, but ironically those weren't the viewers execs are looking for anyway.

So while the total number of live viewers for a show is something the fans like to see, because it reflects the popularity of their show, the key demo is what really counts towards renewal and cancellation (even though Sanctuary already has its 4th season greenlit). And the recovery from last week in that area was impressive.

Does anyone know what the broadcast networks will air in the Castle and Hawaii Five O time slots? Will it be reruns of those shows, summer premieres or special programming?
