That probably has a lot to do with heavy-handed focus on the negative aspects of the main characters from the beginning of the show. When you get all the bad parts of people shoved in your face, it makes it really hard to like them. And the characters that were likable were usually B cast members who never really got more than a few minutes of screentime per episode. Hell, in terms of the female characters, this chart (from 4chan!) sums it all up pretty well:It's interesting you mention the characters. SGA and SG-1 have many character appreciation and ship threads and are still active years after the shows were cancelled. SGU has next to nothing on the Syfy forums. Also on GW they are not as active or as many either. So it makes you think. The ironic part of all this, is SGU was supposed to be a character focused/driven series.

The fact that this chart even exists says a lot about the writing on SGU.

Has anyone else noticed that the popularity of the female characters on SGU is almost inversely proportionate to the amount of screen time they have had?
Well, Amanda Perry didnt have that much airtime and I believe I used these exact words to describe her: "The actress that plays Amanda Perry is the hottest babe I have ever seen on ANY Stargate show." Im glad the chart maker agrees with me! Personality-9, Hotness-9 Funny how they gave Chloe a 5 in hotness
I cannot stand when people call the SG-1 and SGA characters cookie-cutters or 2D. The SGA and SG-1 had more dynamics and depth than anyone on SGU.
BTW, the Chloe one is hilarious, lol. Useless.
Someone PLEASE send this chart to Joe Mallozzi!

Interesting observation! :beckettu:Has anyone else noticed that the popularity of the female characters on SGU is almost inversely proportionate to the amount of screen time they have had?
Interesting to see how some show can stay alive after their end and others like sgu not.I agree it's totally related to the connection created between likeable characters characterization of the actors and audience. How the audience care about the characters.I don't care of sgu ones. It's interesting you mention the characters. Interesting too the comparison between sgu season1 and SGA season 5.That shows how successful SGA is.BTW check out these Sales ranks on Amazon.com

Young and Rush make SGU for me. Greer's also pretty awesome and, for me at least, they've proved more interesting than Teyla or Ronan ever did.
How to say this and stay within the CCPG....
Well, Rush is even less psychopathic than Koyla or Anubis, he is much less macho than Ronan or Sheppard or Jack or Tealc...he is Baltar from BSG. A man like him would never be hired by the Air Force or a government because he is a one-man show. His presence in SGU is to be "the Baltar knockoff". IMO. His character may be interesting to you, but WHY is he part of Homeworld Command and why is he on Destiny? Greer....the 20-something Master Sergeant? To a non-military casual watcher, this goes unnoticed. But there is NO WAY Greer could become a Master Sergrant at that age. Teyla was the leader of her people, Ronon was a fugitive from the Wraith. Their alien backstory (although never fully explored) was far more interesting than any of the character portrayals in SGU, hence the large following of those characters (Teyla and Ronon) as opposed to ANY character in SGU (who seem to be almost universally loathed).
Perhaps you could have simply said how much you loved Rush and Greer rather than adding in that they were more interesting tha Teyla or Ronon. Given the fate and history of SGU, any comparison to any other Stargate show (except Infinity) seems rather comical.
I actually thought Greer was interesting until he started paying homage to Young, and pointing loaded weapons at unarmed civilians (and cocking the trigger). Would you find him interesting if it was real life? I would find him...threatening and unstable.
