Ratings II

I do, and it is very sad all the excuses. I am not happy that SGU has been cancelled or doing bad in the ratings, I am more pissed at people not comprehending the ratings system, or making silly excuses.
While I respect anyone that watches and likes SGU and still can criticise the show and pinpoint the show's weaknesses, I find it a nuisance, with people who blindly follows and make excuses for the show's inherent poor style and structure. Where's the dignity, where is the self-respect, to critique and demand perfection?

I'm being weird again, aren't I? LOL. Tropic needs a holiday.

Could you tell us if this rates is the lowest rates of sgu or of the entire SG franchise or not?

Pretty sure its the lowest rating of the atleast the live action franchise series. Can't find any ratings info on Stargate Infinity. I would imagine SGU performed better than that show. I wonder by how much? :icon_lol:

Edited to make it clear that SGU probably did better than SGI in ratings. Don't think it was clear in my original wording.

Anyone know what the reruns of SGA/SG-1 get? Just for the sake of comparison.

Just compared it to, Pathegon which, I believe had the lowest rating for any stargate franchise. The 12th episode of universe is the lowest on record

Trial and error was the lowest at 0.967 it was ep 26 (next one after cloverdale, what a shock that it took a hit) IIRC though, T&E wasn't that bad (hey, at least they blew the Destiny up)

Did you also like SG-1 and SGA?

loved them.ive been watching stargate since sg1 back on showtime but thought sga's best seasons were 1 and 5. 2,3,4 got soft andthe episodes seemed very cookie cutter. the wraith became jokes way to soon and the genii were annoying there were some great episodes in 2,3,4 especialy mid season finals and premieres.i wish they would have done more episodes like travelers .larrin was hot

what show is perfect? in all hoesty im glad sgu uses the shaky cam . if sga used it then it would have been epic. there are many characters on sgu i dont like but i love the story arc and love the mission. i just wish it had a little more tech. Personally i grew tired of SGA because there was no point to the show imo. they "mckay " just kept killing every enemy. also i thought Lorne was under used. I really like his character

That's cool, you were able to ID an element of SGU you feel could be improved upon - the tech. I agree. The shakey cam, not so much. Jamie Oliver used such cam work before on his earlier cooking shows, made me feel sick, plus adapting to his liberal use of the word, "puck'a".

My bad :O. Oh well...I was right about Twin Destines having the lowest ratings though!

We all know,no show is perfect. But,SGU flaws were very obvious! I could spot them, even when Blindfolded. How is it that a ship can with stand the temperature of the sun but gets crippled by some alien weapon? I was laughing my ass off when I saw that.

Maybe after season 4, SGA did drop in quality, but SGA actually felt like an adventure/sci-fi show even till the very end. But that's the fault of TPTB,for the drop in quality. I suspect SGU had something to do with it.
I respect your opinion but, I feel,SGU still to this day has a pointless narrative.

I think a thing I would've liked to see improved upon in SGU was the storylines. They said that they were going to be a serialized show with no quick fixes, but yet they seem to resolve something as important as Chloe's change, which has been an important story covering half season, in the blink of an eye with no serious repercussions. Frankly, it's annoying and makes the show less enjoyable for me.

At least with SGA, Weir was never returned to her normal self, and she is now floating in space frozen. I find that more dark and dramatic than Chloe's situation. Heck, SGA was awesome up until the last half of Season 5, when we got eps like Inquisition, Brainstorm, Identity, and well not the best eps for the last eps of a series. Heck, S4 would of been better off being the last, but Season 5 had some amazing eps as well.

Speaking of SGA, got some numbers for you folks, these are all Live+SD numbers and the Season 5 overall averages...

Season 5 of SGA 9pm - 1,610,000 total viewers (1.2 HH rating)
Season 5 of SGA 8pm - 810,000 total viewers (0.7 HH rating)
Season 5 of SGA 11pm - 843,000 total viewers (0.7 HH rating)

SGU has been averaging a 0.8 HH rating for new eps.

thats the difference i feel in the shows sgu isnt a run and gun techy adventure show. To me its a character drama where the characters are on an adventure.I have watched sg1 aand sga atleast 3 times each and sg1 very rarely fails me but too much of sg1 was carried over to atlantis. alot of the episodes felt like rehashes and the characters besides lorne, shep, mckay were useless. the one character on the show i missed most during its 5 season run was Grodin. To me SGU's biggest downfall was that the story lines were drawn out too long but i understand why it was done and love that the show is 1 big constant story. chloe's story took way too long and now that it has come to a somewhat conclusion it was a waste.

SGA needed more episodes like The Daedalus Variations and travelers

I think these shockingly low ratings reflect more the quality of the last episode as well as the cancellation of the series (didn't I tell you, MediaSavant?) than Twin Destinies itself.

So I will only lament or celebrate these numbers after I've had a chance to watch the episode :)

Hey Brian, is HH more important than total viewers? My understanding was C3 was the BIG number, but we don't see that, so the next best thing to look at was the demo, but I don't know where HH vs total viewers fits into the picture.

We poor peons will never see C3, knowing C3 is like knowing the profit margins a store makes on its stock, and dude, that ain't ever going to be released for public consumption :D
