Popularity of SGU characters vs. SG1/SGA characters

There has been a steady drop in the number of people viewing the entire SGU folder. Now that the cancellation thread has been pulled for cleansing, there are even fewer people there. Less than the Atlantis and SG1 folders, which has been happening more and more frequently lately. I predict the level of people interested in discussing SGU will get so low in the next few months (with a brief surge when the last eps air), that they won't even need a separate folder anymore. They should just movie SGU to "Off-Topic." 
And I agree, the characters of SGU are completely non-interesting, it's a huge reason why the show was a failure. Who wants to thunk/whump/slash/ship/WOW any of them!?

That screenshot is so pathetic. The SGU fans seem to be retreating back into the dark shadowy corners they were in before Stargate Universe coaxed them from their hovels and basements.

Nope, what's pathetic is that GW maintained roughly the same ratio's of posters in that catagory for the entire live run of SGU

It makes you wonder just what type of person identifies with a character like Chloe or Scott or (God forbid) Rush or Young. How many blue collar guys raised by a Catholic priest meet a rich young girl who is a senator's daughter and gets to bang her within the first day of meeting her? AND she moves into his quarters with (evidently) the full permission of the US Air Force, the IOA and Chloe herself...OMG, what were her parents supposed to be like? We met her mom, but still, why was Chloe such a slut? And TJ started out so cool, but later became clingy, slightly delusional and almost a fatal attraction for Young? Then Lt McBoobs...with a body like that, she chooses to bang Scott in a broom closet AND cry because Chloe skanked him from her?

Exactly. It just confirms that one of the biggest reasons why SGU failed was because hardly anyone liked the characters, and as you say that's not good for a supposedly character based show.
But yet the squeedrones refuse to accept this as being the reason. They won't even acknowledge that the show had any problems. They are sticking with the wrong day, wrong time slot, syfy, the easter bunny etc. Over in the cancellation thread in GW (which has been pulled) many posters tried to point out valid reasons why SGU failed, but the SGU fanboys continually refute them and accuse these posters of bashing. I've seen some try and compare the characters on SGU to the SGA/SG1 characters and that Young was a flawed hero just like O'Neill, and Rush I guess deserves a medal of honor.

that is from the end of Midway (SGA season 4, ep 17). Poor shep is trapped in a shuttle with mckay, Kavanaugh, and Bill lee, Ronon is coming back from earth (after he and teal'c foiled the wraith invasion) on the daedulus and they rescue the shuttle. John had locked himself in the pilot room with headphones so he could ignore the three scientists.

The characters in SGU are almost impossible to relate to / look up to / get inspired by / identify with / admire etc.
In my opinion this is the major reason viewers don't get attached to the show and thus lose interest.

The sga and sga character threads really hum along because the male characters/actors are good looking. Look at all the posts for O'Neill, Jackson, Sheppard, and Ronon. I've read posts from female viewers who openly claim to have tuned in just to watch the pretty. The threads worshiping Young and Rush are dead by comparison, lol.

Having been a parent of a young girl this is what we had to constantly preach about to our daughter because sad to say but this is the norm even in good families. Sex is just a past time and it is only sex so crossing any boundary ie: a marriage, a ongoing relationship is okay. It is also okay to live with your boyfriend for years, understate your earnings so you don't pay all your taxes because then you can't afford your suba diving trips to the islands. Get pregnant have your baby free because you aren't married even though you have money in the bank, sign up for the WIC program even though you have a job and can afford colouring your hair, pedicures and manicures and to dress to the nines then apply for and receive state assistance for daycare. You can also go back to college for free just because you dominioed and illegitate child. I kid you not, and you can turn these people in all day long to the state but they will do nothing.

Just a quick note here to follow up on my old comment here. Go into the C&R folders and see how many hits the respective character threads get. It is quite telling for a small amount of effort. (i.e., look it up and draw your own conclusions )
