Old SGU ratings press releases from Syfy

Those were dark times. I remember watching the first few episodes and thinking, "They canceled SGA for this? It's BSG without cylons!" I thought it was so bad that it'd be canceled after the season finished. Then I read some of those press releases and thought my time as a sifi viewer had passed if this is what people wanted to see. Now I can't wait for the "Sifi cancels SGU" press release.

Bahahahaha! Its so funny to read those after only a season and a half.

LMAO! Its so funny to read all that spin after seeing this show sink faster than a lead filled balloon! Yes, I have noticed that not only are there no press releases, but also no kinosodes for season 2, no real promotion or mention of season 2.5, and no buzz about anything having to do with a season 3 or renewal. Indeed, there is more buzz coming from the actors like Carlyle who says that Rush has "a limited lifespan", and from Mallozzi who says that this alleged 5-year arc is possible to "pay off in a single season".

It is funny!
One thought that came to my mind when I read the first one: the spin was off the charts, and it might have seemed like Syfy landed an instant success when SGU first airs. However, when one compares the ratings for the pilot with the ratings for the pilot e.g. from Atlantis, and when one considers the fact that SGU was supposed to at least double the viewership of SGA bringing in all those new fans, it becomes obvious that the execs MUST have known at that exact moment that SGU was in trouble. Of course, the uptick for Air III might have given them hope that viewership was going to steadily increase after that, but when it leveled off and started its drop, it was already clear to Syfy, MGM and the producers that SGU was failing its objectives. And not by a small margin...
