Dude, I was biting my tongue on the other thread when I wanted to have Yoshi for lunch!

Oh not looking to slag Yoshi here, was just curious if he's changed his mind about SGU is all. It's just a bit confusing.

It will probably be a better question to ask at the end of the 10 episodes when we know more of how things will be left hanging.

I am learning tolerance here, because I have to retype many of my messages because they violate the CCPG. :) I have to follow it too. :icon_redface:

I think he knows its all pretty clear that more SGU will probably be a no-go. But since none of us really knows, he is living in the hope. I can understand that. I feel that way about the possibility of Firefly coming back on the air (rumors). Right now, I am absolutely CONVINCED that there is a 100% no way SGU will happen, because the other elements are not in place. Much like before your car starts, fuel must flow through the lines, the system lights on the dash run through their diagnostics, and THEN the car starts. We will see the fuel running through the lines before any SGU can happen...get my logic? I know where to check now. :)

Yeah, the tolerance thing isn't so bad really. I like the tone here now. Makes it easier to discuss things without getting a huge thread drift.

I like your "follow the production/money" method of figuring out what's going down with shows. It sounds pretty foolproof for getting us the answers ahead of time. The only thing we might not be able to detect (unless given a heads-up by JM) is if they try to tweak the current footage in the studio via editing. At this point I can't imagine how that could possibly work to make a finale for the show but admittedly I don't know what the final ten episodes have in store. Still, based on JM's notes it sounds like many things are left up in the air.

Yep, but if they are doing that, money still has to be sent to SGU somehow. Brad and Rob Cooper also have ACME they can use to channel money. The Stargate Universe II production company still exists as well, But SOMEBODY at MGM will know if money is given to them.

What's ACME? And it's just Brad trying to continue SGU, right? I thought Rob was long gone.

ACME Shark is Robert Cooper's and Brad Wright's private production company.

Acme Shark is the production company owned by Brad Wright and Robert Cooper privately. It co-produces Stargate and has done so since SGA

http://www.imdb.com/company/co0184596/

:) My crawlers find EVERYTHING.

Rob is gone, but he and Brad are still the owners of the Acme Shark production company. Stargate Universe II has been cut off by MGM financially (as far as I know). All money going that direction from MGM will be to pay workers to strike the sets. So, that leaves his "alternatives", one of which would be Acme.

Thanks, OM1! That clears some things up, but raises one more question: If Rob is gone, why would he want to money into SGU? I think he bears much of the responsibility for the creation of the SGU, but he did get out quick.

BINGO...I just mentioned it because it is a way to get money to SGU without using MGM (ie, private investors). In any case, he would need Rob to enter Acme Shark into any contract, even if he is "out of the picture" with Transporter. :)

I'd donate money, but I have all my cash tied up in prodicing a Flash Gordan mini-series. lol

Btw I don't see how acme could invest money in such non profitable series. Sgu is not successful and don't have enough audience to get return in investment.it wii be bad business. So why would he want to produce it except cos his ego?
Really I don't get his logic or reasonement.

The could only do it using OPM - "other people's money". I doubt very much that either BW or RC would pony up their own cash to invest in SGU. It might be their baby but they aren't willing to fall on the sword financially to save it.

Hopefully no one is stupid enough to invest in this ridiculous venture to "finish" SGU. It would be a money pit pure and simple.

Im gonna donate my money to SGU Rehab (when it is created after all the SGU fans go into withdrawal). :)

Acme is probably not a wealthy company. But it acts as a conduit for money and also protects assets. I understand the need for it to exist, but I also know that the financial dealings with that entity can EASILY be kept secret. It can receive money and spend money as a company, but is essentially a TOOL. :icon_e_wink:

EXACTLY. Business owners know how this works. Im certain that Brad looked into leveraging Acme's credit. I think that when Rob and Brad formed Acme Shark, it was intended to become a movie production company doing things other than Stargate as well as Stargate related stuff. In the San Diego Con video, he mentioned that he and Rob pitched SEVERAL (non Stargate) movie ideas to MGM and they were all overlooked. :bradcry:

How can you sell a show like this to investors? You would have to make sure they were dead drunk, had never seen the show, and did not have internet...EVER. Perhaps a rich, deaf, dumb and blind armless man might give it a shot.

You couldnt use lines like "you had to see it to get it", because as soon as they watched it all the other stupid stuff would get in the way. Like in "Space" where Chloe walked up to the hole cut into Destiny. I can see it now:

Brad: We made this ultra cool effect of a laser cutting through the hull of the ship! Very exciting!

Investor: But that girl, why did she walk up to the hole if there were aliens on the other side of it?

Brad
: Oh, thats not really important. Look at the cool hole we made! It took special lights just to....

Investor
: (interrupts Brad) Uh, I think its important to know why that girl walked up to the hole, because those aliens were hostile.

Brad: Youre a hater! Pay attention to the cool music and the effect we used to make the hole.

Investor: I am? I thought I was an investor. Why should I invest in this show? It seems boring. What are the ratings like?

Brad: Ratings dont really matter, its all about the quality!

Investor: Is that in another episode? I dont see any quality in this one. Is this one of the worse ones?

Brad: Not really. It did okay

Investor
: What, like say...Stargate Atlantis?

Brad: Well, not really.

Investor: Better than Stargate Atlantis? If those ratings even EQUAL Atlantis Im in!

Brad
: Well, ratings are currently below Atlantis 5th season average...but....

Investor: WORSE? And it costs HOW MUCH more to make? Ya know Brad, I just forgot I have a lunch date I have to be at. Gotta go....

Brad: Who with? Can I come?

Investor: I havent decided yet. I just know I will be busy with...something. Ill give you a call...

I still want an ending but as you said there's still 10 episodes to go. Im at the point where I figure there's 10 episodes still to go and the news (if any comes at all) will come before the end of the show. Beyond outlining the chances, which has been done, there's not much more to speculate on. So I might as well watch the last 10 and let whatever happens, happen.

EDIT: By the way, I just wanted to say I appreciate the tolerance you guys are showing. I know we have extremely polarizing views on certain issues and that leads to a lot of frustrating moments, but I too have found conversation much more enjoyable.

LMAO! Is that a sneak peak at "SGU: The Musical"? If so you forgot my favorite part of every SGU ep, "Fade to Black".

Yes, this site is definitely a better change in tone and atmosphere compared to its past. I think SGU.S was born out of a resentment towards one entity and that's why it was such a rough place at times. It's great that we've changed into something that is more welcoming. For me, personally, I'm really liking the new feel of things. Plus I'm finding I'm not that interested in "mixing it up" as much these days, even my FLAME HELL forays have been limited. There just is less to be polarized about what with SGU ending.

I do like that there's also a "Mallozzi's Mailbag" in FLAME HELL in case one needs to go off on some of the more ridiculous things he opines on. Sometimes one needs a suitable place for le mot juste. ;)

In something that was not a success.I thought that sort of compagny makes movie to earn more profit than money invested in.and that case they are absolutely not sure about this especially after the rates.Investors know this.So I don't see this liveable

Its the CCPG we have ALL committed to. Cordiality on the public forums is the RULE here. Im glad you are noticing the difference. :)

Arctic Goddess writes: “Joe, if the sets are still standing for SGU, why were set visits for the Creation Stargate convention in April cancelled?”
Answer: I believe I mentioned in a previous mailbag that the issue stemmed from lighting the sets which would have proved too costly.

David J. writes: “just wondering if in case brad and co are given the green light for the movies will you return to help write them? or will you be to busy with the new project? maybe possibly a consultant at least?”
Answer: Given my new commitments, it’s highly unlikely I’ll be involved in any capacity should the story continue.

Lloyd67 writes: ““People at SyFy and elsewhere have hinted that if SGU could meet or exceed its launch ratings, they might reconsider the cancellation. Which means that the show could be saved, if somehow its ratings were higher.” true ?
Answer: I wouldn’t hold my breath.
